- This video took a VERY long time to make, and I hope y'all enjoy it. Once again, shoutouts to Shane for helping me out with the video, and for having some phenomenal gameplay on Shy Guy Beach. I'm sure there was something I did or said that was wrong in the video, so feel free to correct me in the comments if you know a lot about ultra-shortcuts, or if you just want to have something to talk about. Also, you want to know something funny? I didn't realize until after I had completed, finalized, and spoke the script that NONE of the world records for the glitches "dance" before a wall clip. For some reason I thought they did, so if you're confused why I mentioned dancing so much, that's why. As always, stay safe, stay cute, stay loyal, cause I already know you are, and goodbye. Judging from my exploits, I’d have to say the gap jump is the most brudal of all skips
The fact that the concept of an ultra shortcut is such an obvious bug with the "three checkpoints loaded at once" approach, and how the developers clearly made it difficult (but possible on some tracks) to get behind the last key checkpoint, makes me think that some troll employee did this all on purpose. Or, Nintendo was just kind of interested in people finding glitches. I mean didn't they keep glitch times on the leaderboards? The concept wouldn't be that weird for the time, since many games included difficult to find easter eggs and cheat codes. The flaw in the checkpoint system would just be too obvious to any decent coder, right?

Nintendo have never deleted glitch times as far as I know, they only patch the glitch online if they can.
@@ShyGuy. this is untrue - if memory serves, in June 2008, Nintendo did initially delete a few Grumble Volcano WR holders
to think that a couple obvious oversights in programming kind of made mkwii the best game in the series

As someone who hasn't performed these, I had no idea the Grumble Volcano ultra shortcut. I would have thought it was one of the hardest.
Of all the MK Wii content channels, you have stuck out to me. I especially like your choice of epic music used from Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros and Xenoblade Chronicles. That combination of games to take music from is sublime. The presentation skills kept me hooked. Thank you so much for this effort!

One little thing: there is a slightly easier method for the DKJP glitch, where you clip off one of the signs pointing you around the first turn instead of clipping off the tree. It's probably not enough to change its position in the ranking, but still.

Honestly would’ve finished helping with the docs. But was quite stressed out with school and it’s finally over. Happy that this is uploaded though. Wished I could’ve gave more info. As I do know a bit about glitches here. Funny how dkjp is so low. And peach beach is higher. The sherbet land glitch is also quite overrated if I would say so myself. It’s just clipping a sub pixel pole. It’s not too bad to do once. Shane did a great job explaining most of this. And how difficult these are. Not that I agree with some. But among the top 4 they are all extremely difficult and correct. Amazing video.
For the maple treeway glitch 2nd phase, if you start leaning back in midair right before you go through the cliff thing (after you go through the ground by the plant thing), it makes the 2nd phase of this glitch the easiest. Use your second mushroom right as you start leaning back.

My first thoughts when I turned on the video
Amazing video, I didn't know all the insught about the difficulty of certain glitches 👏
Unpopular opinion: the WGM ultra is easier than the GV ultra. Here me out: landing on the rock from the ramp shroomless is kinda tricky for a beginner, you have to get enough distance with the correct alignment and manage your air movements correctly; on the other hand, for the WGM ultra you don't need to time a spin hop, you can just shroom and wheelie, the difficulty here for a beginner is mainly to avoid trigger the last CP when leaving the road; the thing is, you don't even need to land on the pipe for the ultra to work, there's a region to the right of it where if you just die there it still works as normal. Tbh, if I have to do one of them first try rn, provided that I can take my time to allign, I'd have a much higher chance of landing the WGM ultra (and tbh I spent more time improving my GV one, even though with the fast entry). But that's my personal opinion, I can see others having a different. That said, I only pulled off the first 5 ultras on the list (I did land the MC ultra a couple of times), so idk that much about the difficulty of other ultras, but honestly I was expecting MT to be much lower on the list, since it doesn't include any wallclip it looked to me not too hard compared to the others; on the other hand, I thought GV2 was much harder, the collision of the blocks at the start has always looked to me pretty junky when attempting it for fun (with no success whatsoever 😂).
Also, a couple of notes: the difficulty for the RR ultra is also in the fact that you need to get very much air on the spin drift in order to land back inside the KCP0 before leaving the road: there have been few attempts before the successful one that landed to the other side, but the lap didn't count because of this.
Also for the KC ultra, if you don't know, the horizontal wall you hit is the top block at the bottom of the finish line pole: that wall isn't small, the thing is that the part of the wall that sticks out of the invisible wall is insanely tiny.
Last note: one day, every track will have a glitch... besides MC3, that dumb track has no low invisible walls, no horizontal walls, nothing... our only hope is an insanely game warping glitch that let's us drive through walls with super weird conditions or something along those lines... which would still most likely be TAS only... or maybe not 🙂
For the GV ultra, you can just drive around the track normally and use a mushroom there at the end of lap 1 instead, which is easier than the SSMT

All this time I thought the fast way of going the volcano short cut was the only way. Ever since I was a kid.
for warios gold mine, theres shroomless ulta shortcuts that you can do twice after using shrooms. they're considerably harder cause you have to angle yourself dam near straight up on the halfpipe, trick, drift right, wheelie right off the cliff before the goalpost "landing" to the right of the green pipe

I'll rank all the ultra shortcuts I know of in 8 Deluxe. And I won't be including ones like Waluigi Stadium because it's not possible. Number 6 Mario Circuit. You just use a mushroom on the grass near the beginning to hop onto the bridge. Number 5 is Piranha Plant Slide. Near the end you jump over the fence. Number 4 is Piranha Plant Cove. At the 2nd lap before you go into the water drift off the ledge and mushroom through the out of bounds area. Number 3 Choco Mountain. After the glider section go left and hit a rock the will for some reason give you a lot of height then you clip through the fence above skipping the boulder section. Number 2 Big Blue. Charge an ultra mini turbo on the top route in the second lap then hop twice keep holding down and go right to cross the gap. Number 1 Wii Rainbow Road. This is the only real ultra shortcut in the game. The other ones save barely any time and don't seem like ultra shortcuts. At the start turn around back up and use a mushroom after hitting the boost panel to make it across then finish the lap.
Is the Wii rainbow road ultra shortcut real? Also what about GBA Snow land?
None of these are ultra shortcuts. They don’t skip the key checkpoints. Two of them aren’t even real. You’ve somehow confused the rainbow road one with the ultra shortcut in wii, and the choco mountain one doesn’t let you reach the finish line because lakitu always picks you up

I’m using this as a kind of guide for which shortcuts to learn first and had a question about mushroom gorge. All of the stuff I’ve seen say hold the joystick to the right when on the wall after gaining height, but you said left. Is this something that was found to be more consistent in the last few years or was it a mistake?
I’m pretty sure ur supposed to hold bottom right, not sure why I said left in the video. Just do a bunch of times and you’ll get a feel for it

You don't have to bounce back on waluigi stadium. The lap will still count if you just land over there instead of bouncing back and it still skips a key checkpoint making it much easier and in my opinion, about as hard as peach beach.
Grumble volcano respawn is definitely the most difficult

peach beach is much easier if you stop and align, and you still save a lot of time. i'm not even great at glitches but i made a 2/3 run which was like top 50 and that took about the same amount of time as getting sherbet land once. way easier than dkjp too
and honestly i find gv2 way harder than maple treeway (1/3 flame runner) maybe harder than peach beach for actually getting a faster 3 lap time because it saves such a small amount of time and you need to set up so fast. i still dont have a 3 lap time with it

Why is Ghost valley considered an ultra shortcut? By your explanation I would expect it to be just a regular glitch because it does not boost you right in front of the starting line and to the last keycheckpoint (which is also why toads factory isnt included). Or are there only 2 keycheckpoints on this track and you therefor do in fact clip to the last keycheckpoint of the track?
You still skip a key checkpoint on gv2, so it’s an ultra. Also the toads factory glitch doesn’t skip any key checkpoints.

I remember when I was in a party of a friend then they decided to play Mario Mario kart and always the loser needed to pass the control to another person, and guess what I always won 1st Place because of the gliches at first they didn't notice but after winning 10 times in a row they started asking "WTF ARE YOU DOING THERE?" and then they realized I was doing some sort of cheats and I started to LAUGH NON-STOP 😂 the volcan baru was so funny the race started like 1 minute ago and I already ended at the minute 2 eveyone was telling me WTF xD

i havent even heard that the n64 hat gotten it's own ultra shortcut so it must still be fresh. becuz when summon salt did his video of the ultra shortcuts then rainbow road wasnt possible by that time for any of us, only a tas was capable of doing so at that moment and it was only a matter of time until shit broke loose. Oh btw did you heard? Super Mario 64 is reaching it's speed running end soon. The first perfect run was performed without flaws and it's just some months back(march 2023 to be exact)
