Knowing tsunul every male pairing with Sinclair is gonna be s tier
Kinda fair point about fausang being basic but, man the abno logs for Doomsday Clock and Ardor Blossom Moth do such a good job of showing their dynamic. They're both smart characters but Yi is the curious, passionate, experimental one, the guy who's willing to subject himself to the mindbreaking of the calendar, or the flames of the moth, even at the cost of his own condition, such that the Sinners have a better understanding of the Abnormalities. While Faust is the more careful, analytical one, not willing to stake her life, but understanding of Yi Sang's actions, either providing aftercare (Doomsday clock) or justification (ABM). A hot and cold pair, tho definitely in a more subtle way. There's also great Ao3 fanfic series that flesh out these abno logs, and they're very cute.
Oh, and ofc all the shit in Yis chapter of Faust recruting Yi first is just cute to me lmao.

Finally finished the VOD, I agree the most with Emi's tier list. MeurIsh is a dark-horse ship I like because Moroder had some good art and Meursault needs to be with the other sun-associated sinner.

I started thinking abt meurcliff after the chicken event , wit heath slamming the dubious food in meur's face (followed by his iconic rap section) but they ended up being chill bc meur got impressed by his potato peeling skills. Meursault is generally a passive character, and even if its improved in later times (like that time he off-handedly mentioned that his mom used to scold him like outis scolded don) hes still quiet yet observant for the most part (like noticing aeng-du sneaking behind the couch but not pointing it out immediately). Heathcliff on the other hand is very , brash, for a lack of better term; he gets himself in trouble multiple times, is generally impulsive, and is belittled for his questions. However, he has good knowledge and skills in certain areas, like the backstreets and hacks when resources are low; this shows p well in the 7 Assoc. Heath identity, since hes actually good at deducing clues from bodies but just doesn't like wording them out on paper.
I think the dynamic doesn't start off instantly, its mostly kicking off from that one interaction during the chicken event; meur gets surprised that one of the 'duller' members of the team actually has some skills, which can lead him to be more actively perceptive of when heath shows some smarts. On heath's side someone on the bus commends him for once (also he has an inferiority complex, to have praise coming from the brick wall of the group is . yknow. ik other bus members praised him in the recent yield thy flesh event, but meur was the first and prob the least conceited abt it), and there's someone with an objective stance to ground him (meur doesnt react to provocation and while his demeanor can make him irritate heath or not even bother to interrupt him at all, his logic tends to be sound, and he doesnt give heath any anger to bounce off of. Heathcliff's knowledge is situational due to his background, but is noted to be simple-minded and can be dealt with easier with this in mind; Meur's unemotional and unbiased tact would theoretically work well with him, since hes already known as a sinner with little to no moral stance (nd by extension, bias ig?? his IDs have some, but base meur is kinda blank, only facts). Meur's general stoicism aside, he would already have experience with a similar personality in the past in the form of Raymond, but unlike Raymond- heath isnt as bad as him (or anywhere near the level of his Wuthering Heights canon, iirc . he has his own form of care and emotional awareness as shown in canto v), so he probably knows how to diffuse anger, but is also faced with the sheer difference between the two men. So with the knowledge that heath's motivations/thinking are mostly simple (with his own specific competencies) + he's like a more moral version of his old friend, Meur has at least some reason to not think that trying to get his help is a waste of time. Imagining them having a casual convo is kinda tuff, since at first Heath would probably expect Meur to bounce off him only to be faced with two-word responses (plus meur is from a nest while heath is from the backstreets) but it wouldnt be unlikely for them to end up talking about a niche topic in length (proper interest in meur's answer makes him talk longer + they both have straightforward ways of dealing with things, also he keeps dropping bombshells about stuff he's done like CLUBBING, so who knows how much they actually have in common). Meur is one of the few people in the bus who don't show contempt or underhandedness, so heath has some comfort in knowing that at least one person will always be fr wit him with little strings attached.
They strike me as a pair that silently shifted their perspective on the other, and then gradually grow closer through situations that make them team up specifically (or make one of them stand out idfk). Wasted opportunity on projmoon to not make rodya point out meur as a possible mentor for manners smh (but tbf, she was bored and wanted to mess with heath more than actually help). There's also um . marie and cathy, the latter being heath's mad crush for the whole game up until this point; and marie is one of the few people to bring out Emotion and incentive out of meur in his book (kind of a Thing in the way of the ship). While heath is on a path of vengeance , meur merely sinks; heath is actively working to disprove the people who looked down on him, while meur buries it and doesn't even like being reminded of it at all. It is only in the last sections of The Stranger where meur feels some need to stand up for himself (and even resent someone, the man who tried to convert him) and affirms himself while spiting the audience (to be clear he didnt not affirm himself before, but he was fully honest in the times where a simple lie could have saved him). He got pulled away the last minute in Limbus, so I don't know how his canto is going to go, but heath (who already has an Instance of confronting a sinner about how they handle their past) who has strong convictions about being treated would probably get on his arse about it; or maybe not, who knows- its probably going to be dante or just meur himself when facing a critical moment.
I kinda went on a tangent and points got lost but erm tldr; guy who sees other guy just as they are with no contempt, said other guy realizing first guy won't drag him for his background, both of them bonding over practicality, being outcasted, and distant exes (I may have gotten some things wrong also I have not finished wuthering heights BUT ive finished the stranger)
EDIT: also in the kim event meur points out how taking down the head will bring down the rest of the body (pointing stuff out unprompted seems to be smth he does more often good for him) and heathcliff is like "you . you're speaking my language rn"

Ok, so hear me out about Yi Sang and Dong Rang. Sure Yi Sang may have hated him towards the beginning of Canto VI, but towards the end of it, you can tell that he becomes a lot more sympathetic towards him. After seeing Dong Rang's perspective on the past and right before Dong Rang distorts, Yi Sang says "Taking a backward glance at our trials...all of us have been suffering great losses". While he held some contempt towards Dong Rang in the beginning, Yi Sang comes to understand Dong Rang's suffering and even starts to pity him. This sentiment then develops further in Fly, My Wings, described by the lyrics "Teary Eyed, Once-gentle Soul, I watched as you rotted away" and "You're doing what you love, Isn't that that enough? Isn't that that enough? A genius, perfect job, Isn't that that enough? Isn't that that enough?". Yi Sang expresses his distraught at the way his friend has changed, and he begs Dong Rang to abandon his drive to create something great and just be content with what he already has. In other words, Yi Sang wants Dong Rang to return to the way he used to be, for him to re-ignite the side of himself that saved a baby calf and who wanted to invent things to help others.
Essentially, Yi Sang and Dong Rang's story is that of two childhood friends who reunite after being separated by life, but by the time one of them learns to appreciate the other again, that person has unfortunately changed too much for the relationship to be salvaged. However, what if it doesn't have to be that way, what if Yi Sang can successfully fix their broken relationship and bring back the old Dong Rang. They could both change each other for the better and instead of just one of them being able to fly, they could fly together.
If you have read through all of this, thank you for coming to my TED talk, and hopefully, I have successfully changed your mind about Yi Sang X Dong Rang. If not then oh well, at least I tried.

Time Killing Time has definitely boosted Rodion/Don Quixote for me. The ID story for their T Corp Collector IDs paints a picture of Rodya and Donnie being a wonderful team beating up the rich while also fighting against getting too jaded about a lack of significant change. It is such a good dynamic.

Rodya X Faust is EGO they'd both make each other better, they've got a dynamic of introvert and extrovert, they both get each other and could help each other with their internal struggles, playing interestingly with Rodya's feeling of "Since that day… Nothing I held truly felt like it was mine."
Plus they're both very sassy, and they'd make a pretty good team of brains and brawn
I have never felt so validated by the verdante portion of the stream.
But now, with all the shipping wars out the way, i'm sure we can all agree Xiao and Lowell is still the best EGO ship. (Somewhat literally).

Aight so like I think based solely on the fact that Sinclair can know about the N corp mirror world where Faust actually brainwashed Sinclair into murdering someone and he had actual tears in his eyes he did not want to be there, base Sinclair would absolutely have a lot of pent up resentment towards Faust for the idea of her being capable of going down that path which is why Faust x Sinclair is no tier imo
On an unrelated note (or not idk) I love the dynamic between Vergilius and Charon, kinda like a parental-child relationship as Vergil always checks on her (asks her if she's okay with Gregor hanging the gas mask memento from Canto 1) and let's her keep stuff (bongy plushie)

As a fairly new player who just finished Canto 5, my reaction to this went as follows:
Skip to Ishmael/Healthcliff section, see it at top of EGO, feel satisfied.
Skip to end, see Ishmael/Heathcliff two spots removed from top of EGO, commence malding(though I suppose Ishmael/Queequeg and Damien/Sinclair are at least two of the ships I’m a *tad* more accepting of being that high).
I then proceeded to watch the entire stream to find out just what kind of people would dare do such a terrible thing. Turns out you’re all just crazy with…varied…tastes in shipping. Given the questionable sanity of those involved, I’ll let things slide this time.
