Denzel really transforms himself into Malcolm X in this movie. He should’ve gotten the Oscar. A great performance of a real life figure like this comes along so rarely especially one who means so much to so many people. Easily one of my top 20 favorite movies

@@DamanKingBear might just be his artistic touch. When he's being raided with Malcolm's head in the toilet, Spike looks at the camera and says directly that it's over. Another thing he does a lot. Also the moving without walking thing he does to Malcolm in the end, that's another Spike Lee signature
he does that in he got game too. When Denzel hits this dude's throat, its a two shot. just a spike lee signature like those awesome treadmill shots.
Humanity needs someone like Malcolm X every now and then.
I think those kind of people are always around but we fail to see until we are so close to the edge, sometimes a bit further even then we realise we should've listened to what was being preached!

The Autobiography of Malcom X needs to become required reading in high school. I'm white, almost 30 and reading it now, but I should have known about him when I was a teenager.

Denzel is great in whatever he does period. I don't care what the role is he embodies that character. One of my personal favorites of his many films is the mighty Quinn.

This is one of imho spike lee's greatest achievements and one of his greatest films! Never gets the attention it deserves. I read the autobiography of malcom x, and he was spot on about his views on race, liberal democrats, politicians, great film.
A true test of an actress/actor is that you forget it's them playing a role. In this movie and this scene he is Malcolm.

Spike Lee did an excellent job. He made an epic. Imagine Spike directed that James Brown movie? It would’ve been just like Malcolm X. Well acted and detailed. Denzel Washington nailed Malcolm’s passion, presence etc. great job.

Yeah, but that was a great movie as well. It really depends on who you are talking to about which film is better - different peoples connect with different things. I personally prefer this over that film, but it's not like that wasn't a great film also.
