Synopsis:In the years before the Civil War, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the South. Subjected to the cruelty of one malevolent owner (Michael Fassbender), he also finds unexpected kindness from another, as he struggles continually to survive and maintain some of his dignity. Then in the 12th year of the disheartening ordeal, a chance meeting with an abolitionist from Canada changes Solomon's life forever.

Every time I read/watch/hear a story about the horrors of slavery that humans have put other humans through, it feels like a punch in the gut just knowing this kind of unforgiveable history. I'll 'never' understand how the human race can do this to each other. But we never seem to learn from it.

, slavery is still a thriving industry in many parts of the world and unlike a lot of contemporaries when there was a transatlantic slave trade The slaves were not castrated as they were in other parts of the world at the time and those other parts of the world had been trafficking in African slaves for longer and still traffic in African slaves to this day but don't worry the traffic in all colors and Creeds of people
