Went from the auto M140i to a 10 Year old 320d Estate and a manual E92 M3 and other than the straight line speed the 140i doesn’t feel anywhere near as special or as engaging as the M3. I don’t disagree. I had to modify my M240i to get the handling feel I wanted but that’s no bad thing as it has really come alive. Wider tracks and M3 control arms have given way to amazing steering feel and a rear diff combined with progressive springs and superior tires has tidied up the rear. Not everyone is into modifying however so I respect the move to the M3 all the same.

Funny reading some of these comments reference the handling. Think most of the comments are from people that don't even own one🤣 I've had mine nearly two years now and they are great little cars that do a bit of everything. It's a great daily drive that you can have some fun in when you want. Maybe not a great TRACK weapon in STOCK form but great car for all other things. You have to drive it like a complete cock wobble to get it out of sorts on normal UK roads. I've had plenty of spirited drives in mine and never had it out of sorts. If you have then your driving like a dick and should be saving that kind of driving for the track and not on normal roads.
I don't want to sound like a complete anorak, but here goes. The M140 and 135 are completely different cars, so referring to the 140 as the new 135 is incorrect. The 140 has the monster B58 engine which dynos at about 350-370 bhp standard whereas the 135 has the N55 engine which has much less bhp and torque. They are chalk and cheese. I've owned both. Also, speak to any BMW mechanic and they'll tell you the 140 is effectively an M1, but BMW didn't refer to it as that since that title is reserved for the original M1 supercar. Good videos. Keep up the good work.
‘Much less power and torque’ get over yourself mate the 140i has 340hp and the 135i has 320hp. It’s only a 20bhp difference 😂 plus the Stock 135i sounds way better than the 140i

They ruined the new one series 🤮
In 202q
Noooo, both models look sexy. Maybe not the entry level new shape, has to be a 135i or sport kit!
Front looks disgusting
Can you do some POV drives in this please
Haha from the thumbnail this looked almost Misano Blue. I must say I was a bit disappointed to see the stock Estoril Blue instead. I've gotta say these somehow don't sound as good as the M135i, I'd probably go for a manual LCI M135i over this I think. I like the video style, although a couple 'under load' flyby shots would have been nice I think.
Someone changed the entire dashboard obviously:
Put the new LCI2 (07/2017 and later) dashboard into this ‘old” LCI1 (before 07/2017) model
It’s a 67 plate so don’t know how you thought that...
@@Sambobwhat is the meaning of „67 plate“ ?
Built in 07/2017 ?
@@vollcare4076 67 Plate - Registered After 1st Sept 2017, but before 1st March 2018.
@@chazteb thanks
Bit strange systematic to put in 6 fort 9th month of the year (September)
@@vollcare4076 the 6 is the decade, so a 58 Plate is registered After 1st September 2008. Now it is 2021 the plates are now 70, so in September there will be 71 Plates. Another example, 65 plate- September 2015. If a car is registered on 1st March, its a 21 plate. Very very confusing I know.
Well, I m trying to buy a m135/140, so I m watching every video Is there.
Just One thing:
You told "if you are coming from a F20/21 diesel, prepare yourself, because It s night and day"
Well, actually you re right at 99%...
That remaining 1% has a name:
125D.
Don t laugh 😉
Of course I m speaking about 125D middle staged, at least 2... In the neighborhood of 270 hp, and 550 Nm, you know, vs stock 140i
Of course the 3.0 6L Is going to be quicker anyway..
But in 90% of roads, believe me, they re going to be on the same level.
I know It sound silly...bit s because nearly everybody think 125D Is like every other turbodiesel, Just with more power:
Nearly immediately sbamm!💥
But then It die.
Nope!
Instead the delivery (and the torque...) looks a lot like an atmospheric 5000 cc :
Smooth and predictable from 1000 to 5400/'
It s incredibly Quick...
And I know I LL miss It 🙄
But the 135/140 Is a must, I think. ❤️
It’s only a 20bhp difference 😂 plus the Stock 135i sounds way better than the 140i
@@MrCharlan1 haha haha
I was a BMW mechanic for a few years and never heard anyone call it a "M1". Its like saying the 340i is an M3, 540i is an M5.
This generation of bmw is way too intrusive to your driving experience, they feel like they drive themselves due to the electric steering.
After selling mine for a rs3
Thing i find mad about these is an M140i can look the same as a 118i M sport 🤯
They also are actually around 350-360bhp from factory i believe.
That'll be why BMW sell so many 116d and 118d's. They all look the same.
335bhp from factory
@@ProMilkshake Makes sense because not everyone wants a 3.0 turbocharged i6 performance engine!
they are desiving they just look like a 118i msport unttill you look at the back and there 2 exhaust tips I own one I love it props the best performance car I have owned have had res delete done m140i
@@craigwensley1249 340bhp on paper, but if you dyno one they actually put out 350-360bhp !!!!!
Why BMW didn't give it an e diff like on the Cupras from factory is stupid?
They do have an e diff just not a mechanical LSD.
E diffs are pretty useless to be honest
A Cupra haha
Neil whats funny?

Great engine in a very lacklustre chassis. They can look nice with a few subtle mods but this one looks very plain and ordinary.

Says the bmw fanboy...

Great vid again.ive got an auto m135i sound motor
I never really felt this car was what you’d call a drivers car, fantastic engine and straight line speed but that can get boring after a while. The car just felt a little dull to me but for the cheap finance that BMW were throwing around, they were good for the money.
360bhp. RWD. Not a driver's car?🤔
@@neil5242 No not really.
Spot on 👍
Manual , m performance LSD , remap, wont get much better for the money, pity they look like a Garden shed
Weld the diff... 🤔..... I'll go now 😂
Like alot!!!
So is this engine a tuned version of the 120i ?
No, the M140i is a 3.0 litre twin turbocharged engine not a 2.0 litre.
@@TheBakerBoy twin scroll turbo, but yeah unreal engine
🙈 it's the B58 engine - now found in many BMW's and other manufacturers too, inc the Toyota Supra
Its the b58. One of the best engines of recent years.
£24k-+ now 🤣
Buy one and then fit an LSD. Proper weapon.
Please learn how to say performance, otherwise an adequate video
I think you mean preformance 🤣

RWD means it will be far less grippy than all other hot hatch rivals.
Sorry, but that’s just not the case. Obviously not as much grip as 4x4 but off the line it’ll blow front driven cars into the weeds!
