Never been the biggest fan of the Golf R. I think it’s because they are everywhere but with this generation, I have to say, I really do love the look of it. The interior looks well nice too. Would definitely add the optional spoiler. Great vid as always Jamie ✌🏻

Its no Fakery coming through Speakers and it never has been its amplified trough the Windscreen like in a Porsche...i own a 7.5 Golf R and Engine and Exhaust Noise are pretty good without the Stereo switched on...

The best looking Mk8, that's for sure. However the price has taken a hike.... an S3 Sportback with standard leather interior is actually £2k cheaper. Expect the R to be a sharper drive though. Think VW want us to buy ID3's.....
It’s weird that the new S3 didn’t come with the drift mode like the R (with performance pack). It makes the R the more appealing drivers car now. The S3 was always just a Golf R with a better interior, now I’d never choose a S3 over a R.

The mk8 is total cost-cutting exercise for VW..theres no VW badge under the bonnet, and no hydraulic bonnet strut! Not to mention they've taken the engine sound synthesiser from the mk6 R which sounds like a hoover!

The "R" badge looks like a Volvo Polestar type thing. Looks like VW are almost catching up with the fun chassis of a 2016 Focus RS but likely in a more dailyable package, it even finally sounds. sporty too. A shame it looks so bland, mk7 looks much sharper.

The gti club sport looks more nicer less square shaped good power to an already great engine. Ul see 270hp + from a stage 1 I bet and it won't break like a Ford
The GolfR is much better than the GTi / Focus esp considering a) point to point acceleration and braking eg traffic lights, b) high speed stability and refinement on long stretches of autobahn and c) when you learn how to drive and corner both with the torque vectoring and without, in all weather conditions 🤔 The GTi feels slow by comparison and the wheel spin eg on a hill etc is annoying. The GolfR now with rear drive bias does complete the package 😘
This is a base model R, drift mode only available via R performance package. Volkswizard that most UK Rs are not built nor offered with this extra package immediately, there on a long wait.

I was super excited about the prospect of the mk8 R after its announcement a few years back and after seeing it become a reality I have tried to maintain my excitement, but- I cannot get excited about this new car unfortunately😓 it's an overpriced, over hyped, anticlimactic machine that doesn't know what it is. I hope I am wrong but I can't see this car being as popular as its predecessors.
They cost £39k! I can't ever imagine spending that on a car! If u took out finance on it it probably end up costing over £50k for a golf! Talk about selling your sole for a car 😬 Its much better to buy a car for 5k and own it outright for the start instead of paying this huge amount for a car

I bought a stock 7.5 GTI brand new just over a year ago in oryx white with loads of extras including 19” Santiago’s, Panoramic sunroof, Dynaudio and art velours upholstery. I got it for just under £32,500 with VWFS contribution and cleared it in full within a month thus I didn’t pay a penny of interest. So it can be done and if you want to keep it for a good few years or if you want to get rid of it quick buying in full is preferable to leasing.
Currently have a long term mk5 ed30 and mk7r dsg for the last 2 years too... I think I will be keeping my mk7r for a while.... the mk8 is too similar and is after all based on the same mk7 mqb chassis..... also a pathetic power hike over the mk7 just doesn't wash...comon vw... where is the golf rs we have been waiting over a decade for???????? ALSO.... THIS IS A BIGGIE.... THE R LOGO ON THE CAR LOOKS LIKE IT'S COME OFF A FRENCH CAR.... GET RID OF IT...OR MK8 OWNERS WILL DO THIS THEMSELVES.

Those are 18’s Jamie. 19’s are an inch wider also across the J, plus for the Nurburgring mode you need the performance pack.
Only the GTI Clubsport gets Nurburgring mode. I think you mean that you need the performance pack to get drift mode,
