Preparing for natural burial

- In this video Tracy talks us through the process of preparing a body for natural burial here in Queensland, Australia. While this form of burial is gradually becoming more popular, it is still not common practice - Tracy has only prepared a handful of these burials this year. Cremation remains the most popular, and is not surprisingly, still the most affordable.
This video points to an earlier visit we had to a cemetery offering natural burial and once again, we thank our friend Tim from Eco Memorial Park from showing us around.
Rules and regulations regarding natural burial vary across the world so if this is something that interests you, please check for options available with your local authority.

Hey ladies. My life's taken a big turn this week. My dad has been caring for mum the last 18 months with terminal lung cancer. Now my dad has gotten really sick with recently diagnosed pancreatic cancer (the most unforgiving of cancer) so I've moved back to my folks to care for mum till dad comes home next week. I'm now a full time carer for both of my terminal parents. They wish to die in the home they built. I'm gonna see it thru and make it happen. I'm so hounered to be looking after my folks in there end of life journey. Luv wot you do ladies always enjoy your vids 😊

I live in the USA and yes natural burial is an option to us along with many other green burial options. It is a beautiful way for your loved ones to go on.

Thank you for covering this topic. Here in BFE Montana I have already pre purchased my plot in a natural burial cemetery. The only exclusion is if you have had radiation treatment for cancer you CAN NOT be buried there. There are no markers allowed, but if you wish to donate a bench to be placed on the pathway that is acceptable. I will pre order the muslin shroud and have it ready. By law I HAVE to be planted within 3 days but since I have no family, my executor/lawyer/friend will be there when I get planted. I have seriously considered having him going up before I get schlepped to the site and dropping all my silver coins in the hole and throwing a little dirt on them to cover them up so if in 20 or 30 thousand years someone decides to do some archaelogical digging they may wonder what this is (let them puzzle on THAT for a while). I can have a native shrubbery planed on top of me and the rest will be carefully replaced and in a year or two, no one will know the difference. The really cool thing is my dog can also be interred there (if she outlives me) or if she dies first, they will just bury her a little off to the side. I wish more people would consider this. 🐶🪙🪙🪙

I have exactly the same planned. I have a space for my two boys to at the side of me and my other dogs ashes are going in my arms. Makes me happy to know we all be together. 😊

Natural burials are quite common here now (UK). I’m going in a moss lined coffin made from mushrooms ( degrades in 45 days) & in a natural burial ground in the hills. Coffins are made in the Netherlands.

As I've said, probably, I currently work in a care home, and behind the building is a railway track and across t'other side is a green burial park. More than one of the previous residents have had their services there. Also, on a lighter note, I always think it odd that cemeteries are near either hospitals or care homes. Tempting fate? ;) But seriously..... Enjoy your weekend x

I really liked you reply? I was trying to think of the scariest cemetery for my burial. Ask Alex guest to bring shovels and wear their comfy digging cloths. I’d like to be buried at midnight with some tiki torches for light. A funeral they’ll never forget. Like mafia burial.
I've already signed up to donate my body to the local medical school, but if for some reason that can't happen I want to go into the ground, in a sheet, plant a tree, and be done with it. Family can still view you beforehand, and your last act isn't to poison the soil.

With natural burial, what happens when they have a pace maker, or any other metal or mechanics inside them?
Hi, pacemaker, defibrillators, cochlear implants, and other battery operated device like these will be removed before natural burial. Unfortunately we can not remove any metal or implants such as hip replacement because that would involve surgery and we are not surgeons. Thank you for your question take care 🤗💚💚

Will the bones break down/be absorbed by the tree/soil? I know the skin and organs will but not sure about the bones.

If the deceased has false teeth and has a natural burial do the teeth get removed prior to burial?

My friend wasn't embalmed and her funeral wasn't till a week later. How did they control the smell?

A friend's mother wasn't embalmed either, but she had an 'open viewing' for family. They told us to try not to touch her if putting something in the casket. I put a Rosary near her left arm, and kissed it, before laying it on her. I believe in life everlasting. That Jesus Christ will come again and judge the Living and the End. I'm Roman Catholic, but no matter, I do love your video's. Great going on the 50k that you both ran. 🏃♀️🏃♂️

Personality I’m being cremated, if I lived out in the country or an area where a green burial is permitted, I’d do that. 👍🏼
Where im from if you have loved ones buried on your property you cant sell it.

@Areyoudyingtoknow my cousins have my uncle buried behind his house and now they can't sell because of it, and moving him is s a no go because they didn't realize he's buried in swampland and his wooden casket disintegrated. Very sad.. edit: I'll clarify he was buried in winter so the swamp factor wasn't a factor , the ground was frozen and his grave was dug by an excavator.
