    As a funeral director/ embalmer , i will always respect the different ways people would like to be either buried or cremated. Embalming is not for everyone and that’s ok. Some families still want the traditional funeral service with a viewing and a burial. Most now choose cremation but still want a viewing and some kind of service. In Connecticut I believe there is a society trying to buy a large piece of land to start a green burial cemetery. I hope they are able to do it. I did not get into this profession to get rich. I firmly believe in helping families choose what they want. My job is to help them get there.

    I'm already 100% decided on a green burial for myself. Let my body nourish the earth as it has nourished me. A bushland glade, a simple cotton shroud, and a hole in the ground. I take great pleasure in knowing that the years after my burial, trees will continue to grow strong around me, and the bush birds will make their homes above my heart.

    Mike Michaels, you have completely changed my view of typical funerals. When you stated and I quote "There is nothing natural about being pumped full of chemicals, put on display, and then sealed in an overpriced box." It really put things in perspective for me. Thanks! I'm going to be rethinking my last wishes and request as it pertains to my final resting place and method.

    • @MrTommyboy68
      @MrTommyboy68 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are options, you just have to check local and state laws, some places do not require a "vault" so a wooden box can just be lowered into the ground, some allow you to be planted just in a linen shroud, but a lot of opposition from funeral homes and people who are disgusted and mistakenly thinking you remain as pretty as when you are sealed for eternity. Let me go "back to earth" and don't grieve for me as I am out of this beshitted mess and don't have to worry about war or disease or stupidity or hatred,

    In the Scottish Borders we have the Hundy Mundy Wood Natural Burial Ground near Mellerstain House. The burial ground is set on a hill among mature trees and with wonderful views across the Border's countryside. There is also a large stone gothic folly, similar to the towers dotted around the Borders.Someone I knew at primary school lies here,with just a simple marker and I think others have no plaque at all. It's very peaceful,and the wind whispering through the grass and trees can give you a great sense of calm while you reflect on the life of a loved one or friend.

Its like saying "in america if someone is caught kissing in public he will be hanged and burned alive while being dragged around the streets for everyone to watch"
      logically if someone were to believe that kind of absurd bs litterly the moment he reads it (wich is what these braindead morons do when reading rumors about islam) then its safe to assume he's just blinded by his hatred for america (in this eg) and no american would even bother arguing with such a moron to dissprove it becaus only a totall *retard* would believe something like that and those type of ppl are not the kind to argue with but the kind to *ignore* .

    Wow - as a Muslim I didn't realize that "green burials" were not more common. This is the traditional Islamic burial. We don't use any chemicals and wrap the deceased in a simple white shroud. Beyond the environmental benefits, it's the most respectful to the deceased as there body is not desecrated and filled with chemicals. We are from the Earth and we will return to the Earth. There is no need to slow the inevitable and harm the environment in the process.

    I've opted for this. I have land near my cabin and a portion was set aside and surveyed as a cemetary. All I had to do was record it with the county. My will has instructions that if my wishes are not followed all of my assets go the various charities.

    I'd rather just have immediate cremation no service and dispose of my ashes, but have my obituary put in the newspaper. That's the way I'm going no expensive funeral and burial. I want my family to save the money for their selfs.

    Phyllis Stokes had done a Video on her page regarding Natural Burial. She and her husband had this plan for them. He died in July 2019. She described the process to the tee as this Video presents. I just assumed it was a Law the body has to be encased in a Casket because of bodily fluids leaking ?

    I’m curious and absolutely behind natural and green burials, but concerned with the liability behind viewing an unembalmed corpse. As someone in the funeral industry, I’m unsure how to proceed with my desire to offer natural burials to people without being sued for emotional distress.

    This is as things need to go back to , God's way , I buried my son Stevie 20 yrs ago now , the bill was 15, 000. Bad enough your mind is shout down your dying inside , can't even think of your own name , your heart has stopped beating , all you can think is why wasn't it me and not my child , funeral homes really really take advantage of you , sorry bout that , I still cry and it's been 20 yrs , I still can't feel my heart 💔 beat , I truly believe natural way is better , I know my Stevie would have liked it , 😘☮️😇💕

      I have been checking for my pre plan. $2800 PLUS milage to pick up my carcass, transport to the funeral home PLUS $800 for a shroud PLUS I have to pre pay a local contractor to dig the hole. NO embalming, NO service, NO prep, just wrap my ass up and drop in the ground. Cemetery is $100. plus $50 for "perpetual care". Just plant a rose bush and let me go already. BUT $2800 for basically NOTHING. Cheaper for cremation. Rip off assholes.

    I'm coming 'late to the game', but what about on privately owned, unincorporated land? I want a 'green funeral', and my son owns forty acres of land, out in the middle of nowhere, where I'd like to be placed. Who do I contact - the county, a funeral home - who?

  • @duskeyowl2507
    @duskeyowl2507 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really want to go green , but my concern is that it's not really green if your literally using up a small parcel of land for eternity. The video does not mention the spacing of bodies, which is considerably more than the embalming process.
