    HI, from Texas pretty ladies. The worst funeral i have went to, was a friend that drowned and was in the water for 3 days. He was so swelled, the casket was bulging.The smell was really bad and people were covering there faces. Thank goodness it was only a grave side service.

      That’s a situation I would think the family needed to buy a bigger casket and the body wrapped in plastic and only having a closed casket service

    My 1st husband passed from 3rd degree burns from a house fire. After the fire he survived 5 days in the burn unit. When the funeral home picked him up we were told immediately that there was no way he could have an open casket, no problem. But the day of his funeral they delivered him in a bodybag inside his casket because his body was "weeping" the embalming fluid and his tissue was still weeping from the burns.. It was so very important to me that he was buried in his 9/11 tshirt (his childhood best friend passed in tower #1.) Thankfully the funeral home placed his tshirt in his casket with him and allowed our 2 sons and i to write him a final letter and they placed them in his casket while we were there.. Its bothered me over the years without him that he was in the bodybag.. I understand why it had to be that way, i just wanted what i know he would want.. ❤

      I'm so sorry that you and your two sons have had to endure losing him not just once, but at least thrice, and I'm sorry that he, you and your sons were robbed of so much, as individuals and as a family. I obviously know nothing about your first husband's personality, but isn't it likely that he would be much more content with knowing that the memories the four of you made with him were protected from the pain that viewing the body he had departed from would've caused over being buried with his body wearing the tshirt honouring his late childhood friend (instead of being buried with it)? Despite your whole world having shattered and a grieving family, you still made sure to honour his wish while also protecting yourself and your sons, and isn't that the thing that counts? I hope that you, your sons and your loved ones are doing well. ❤️‍🩹

      There's nothing selfish about how people care for their loved ones after death.
      Funerary practices are for the living, not the dead, and whatever has to be done to ease someone's mourning should be done so long as the money is there.
      Maybe you shouldn't worry so much about what others do if it has nothing to do with you.

    A interesting point to possibly address is the difference between Traditional European Death rights / Burial / Cremation.
    And the USA Embalming / visitation / Service either in the Funeral Chapel, or Graveside, How the USA predominantly used to Embalm everything, which was lying still long enough, to Today's movement of a more Visitation after the Remains are made presentable. Then Cremation, WITHOUT Embalming, also " Green Burial" request s from the arranging family per request by the Decedent. Note* I am NOT in the industry, yet i have a Dear friend who has taught at Worsham in Chicago.

    My father-in-law was murdered in 2011. They only discovered his body around 16 days later and advanced decomposition had already set in. He was given a full autopsy, but there was apparently not much of a body left to properly lay out (the term they use at most of our mortuaries as embalming is 'something fancy' and only really available on special request and it costs a lot of money). He was bagged and put inside a coffin for the funeral and cremation. The cremation took place another 2 weeks later at a separate location. It was all a horrendous experience.

      Yes you can still embalm a body in advance decomposition, this won't change the look of the body it will only aid in slowing the breakdown of the body long enough to have a service and take away the smell.
      Please take good care of yourself ❤️❤️

    Thank you, ladies! Very interesting. I'd like to know how long a body can be kept in a hospital morgue and still have it embalmed and an open casket funeral. This is a real case; my friend's mom died a week ago and they plan to have her embalmed in the next couple of weeks and then have an open casket funeral. I think they are pushing their luck and will not be pleased with the way mom looks after that long a time. What do you say? What is their time limit?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow

      Once you are embalmed you are preserved. You won't decompose for years if its done correctly. So months or even a few years after would be fine although the body does dry out and start to mummify after time.

    I knew someone who decided to.check out and did not want family (who lived in another state and were older/frail) to have to deal with claiming the.body, having (and paying for) a funeral, and going through/disposing of all the stuff. The family was old school, conservative Catholic, so really they would not be able to have a funeral for a suicide anyway. So this individual planted gasoline cans all around the house, loaded up the semiautomatic, fired gunshots into gas cans and (quickly) self, and blew the whole.place to kingdom come. The explosions and intense heat meant it took awhile before firedighters could get close to it. By the time they got the fire out and the.scene cooled enough to go in there, there was absolutely nothing to be recovered, it was all just ash. So they bulldozed the site, notified the family, the social security administration, the persons workplace, and that was the end of it. Honestly, not such a bad idea.

      Hi, an embalm can take anywhere from about 2-3 hours on a basic none complicated case up to around 6-7 hours on very difficult cases. Thank you for your question take care 😊💚

    Just curious if anyones been buried with their pet other than a cremated one.....
    If so, does the pet need to be embalmed since they probably decompose faster?

      Not sure where you are in the world and what the rules are around viewing 😞
      Remember your mom for who she was and celebrate her life your own personal way at your own cost not a funeral home. Sit with a photo you love the most about your mom, and chat to her, it will make a difference to you, it helps me cope too as the funeral home who cared for my mom would not let me see her either 😞 (this was before I started in the industry) you take good care of yourself and always be kind to yourself. It's a difficult journey but you can and will travel it in your own way. 🥰❤️❤️

    what happens when someone dies in surgery ?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If this was to happen. It would be a coronial investigation (not sure if this is the same world wide, but that's what happens here in Queensland Australia) the coroner will look over the medical history of the deceased and sometimes will order a autopsy by the pathologist if needed. This will not happen to every case of death in surgery.

    How long does a embalmed body last ,,after buriel?

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on lots of factors. Such is the ground the body is buried dry, wet and temperature. What kind of embalming has took place is just mild preservation to last only a few months or is it stronger, the list goes on so it's difficult to give a definitive answer. 🤗💚💚

    Hey ladys a question for you if a woman passes away while on her period does she still bleed after death and would it cause her decompose faster.

    • @Areyoudyingtoknow
      @Areyoudyingtoknow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kathline,
      No, a woman does not continue to bleed after death, even if she dies while on her period. After death, blood circulation stops, and the body's functions, including menstruation, cease. Therefore, there won't be any ongoing bleeding.
      As for decomposition, the presence of menstrual blood itself does not speed up the decomposition process. Decomposition after death is a natural process that begins soon after the heart stops beating. It is influenced by various factors such as temperature, humidity, microorganisms, and the body's own enzymes. Menstrual blood, in this context, does not significantly accelerate decomposition.
      Thank you for your question take care 😊💚

    Good day beautiful ladies. Ok I am confused here. You say not many are embalmed in AUS. So does that mean they cannot do a public viewing or funeral. I know the law here in USA There cannot be a public viewing unless the body is embalmed. On that note have a wonderful week.

    Forgive this stupid American's ignorance. I couldn't find a previous video answering this.
    Sorry.
