    This is my honest review as a sound designer of the Bose QC 35 ii noise cancelling headphones. And spoiler... they are absolutely fabulous. Perfect for travelers - but also soundguys! Still in 2019 that is!
    The video includes a thorough product review, my experience with owning the QC35 for over a year, ANC test and a bineural audio test (audio demo), so you can actually hear the sound quality yourself! (remember headphones though)
    Visit your local store for the real experience of the sound quality :-)
    Hope you enjoy this review - leave a like if you did!

    Great review, thanks. 👍 I am glad you pointed out the “linear” qualities of the Bose headphones. Over the years I have owned dozens of headphones from all the great manufacturers. However, there is something very special about the sound stage of Bose. Even on my Bose TV sound bar you can hear the difference. I wasn’t sure exactly why this was. However, you helped clarify what I was hearing and didn’t understand. I am not sure I am getting my point across clearly, but you helped me understand a little bit more about my headphones. Thanks. 👍 p.s. Like and subscribed.

    Managed to get a pair of these for £40 on an ebay auction, the headphones were described as "For parts or not working" and the images provided looked awful and I guess I was the only one willing to risk £40 to see if they are in decent condition, I even asked the seller and they didn't know if they worked or not. The headphones came working but in such a disgusting state where the earpads and the headband were covered in filth. I extensively cleaned the headband along with the rest of the shell and bought the cheapest replacement earpads on amazon (theyre all basically the same until you go £20

    Nice , very useful review. I just bought mine and agree with your insights. I’m a singer/songwriter and love the linearity, no hyped bass, in my studio I usually work with my Sony 7506’s. These Bose QC 35 are real close in quality.

      Hey. I have those headphones aswell and I'm a beginner at producing music, but whenever I turn off the ANC while using 3,5mm to 2,5mm jacks it gets much quieter and feels like cuts off the high frequencies. Do you get that too or is it maybe right way to produce (with anc off)? Cause for example in my car I can hear that the high freqs might need a little boost but at the same time they sound too harsh on other audio systems. I dunno I'm just asking should I turn off the ANC while making stuff or doesn't matter?

    I recently went into a local electronic store wanting to buy some "cheap" bluetooth headphones for my Galaxy S20 which has no headphone jack, and after testing almost everything from low to high values the Bose just amazed me! I heard details in a song that I haven't heard with my other headphones like he said :D And they are sooo comfortable even with my glasses!
    So I went from getting some 50-100€ headphones to getting the QC 35's for ~230€ but that was totally worth it 😊

    Best music related purchase I’ve ever made, hands down. I feel like it’s one of those headphones that will still be good in 30 or 40 years. Good headphones stays good for years and years and years and I don’t think I’ll ever change them for anything, they’re my go to for proper music listening, pair them with the AirPods Pro for everyday chores and you’ve got yourself a heavenly setup

    Great review. The QC35ii's are 'industry standard', they seem to have the 'x' factor too. Who cares if they have 'old skool' buttons, they work well, the Sony's (Sony is a brand liked in our house), can, by all accounts, be problematic when using the swipe/touch feature. I've a friend who uses QC35's with an aviation mic and loves them - light aeroplane use is a tough gig - when he's not flying, he uses them as ordinary headphones (although they're far from ordinary).

  • @Kymikol
    @Kymikol ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I got my second pair rn! I found the first ones ( QC 35) left at a gas station where I worked, we almost threw them out! I took them and they served me well for 5 years! And they are still working, don't get me wrong, but the headband got wet and started to look really bad, so I decided to buy new ones, and don't regret it at all!
    The first ones were manufactured in 2016 and till this day they work flawlessly! The battery usage time is still the same, sound is still perfect, and I use them for hours every day! Only thing, take care of them, u can replace the earmuffs, but the not the headband ( for original one) and mine got really not good looking 😅.
    So if you are considering buying them, do it! Even not new ones, as I got my second ( QC 35 II) ones. U won't regret it.

      I'm not an audiophile (at least not yet), so I really like the frequency response you get from the QC35. It's not 100% linear at all, but the most linear I've tried in the consumer headphone world - which makes them quite interesting to do sound designs on!

    I agree with you. These headphones allowed my ears to hear things I couldn't before. I think it's mainly because of the ANC. But the quality of the sound blows my mind everytime I listen to them. They've definitely turned me into a "music snob" in a sense lol I don't really wanna listen to music if it doesn't sound as good as it does in my headphones.

Would appreciate if you can help me understand if we can pair 2 mobile phones to it at same time and switch in between them swiftly while on calls. How efficient & practically easy is the switchover. I think QC35ii is better than ath-50mx, 50mx is a good headphone but it is just overhyped. I have both and QC35ii is my go to headphone, comfortability, bluetooth support for 2 devices at the same time, the size is not so bulky as 50mx and Sony Xm3, sound is linear which you can use in recording and audio editing.

    • @RozilioMusic
      @RozilioMusic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry for the late reply! Yes it does change. The bass gets a bit more "soft" and indeterminable. And in general the low frequencies are not as powerful. And of course your ears also get a sense of space and reverb, because you can hear more of the room you're in. A little hard to explain, but I hope that helps!

But on the other hand the Bose has a more detailed sound (you can separate what's going on more easily), which I prefer more :)

      I have both XM2 and QC35II. Even on the XM2 the Sonys are better on ANC and sound quality. Bose though for comfort. so On the go i pick up the Bose, but for higher quality listening i pick up the Sony, set my android to LDAC and rock FLacs. Soundguys have a review on these and the Sony's came out on top for quality. but yeah, comfort and on the go package goes to QC35II. review here th-cam.com/video/vC6m4iVy_Vc/w-d-xo.html

      Tiago Jesus, hey! Well, in terms of audio quality I must admit I like the Bose better! But if you’re into more bass, which punk rock music often sounds awesome with imo 🤘🏽 then the H900n is quite good. They are substantially cheaper than the Bose as well - at least in my country.
      The noise canceling is not as good as the Bose though - or the Sony 1000xm3. But it’s better than on the h900n’s competition in the price bracket.

      @@armaga144 These QC35ii have something that improves the frequency response when you turn on the ANC. Sorry, I don't really remember the terms, and I don't know if it is like an integrated software. But it is when the ANC is ON (and the headphones are wired) that you get the flat frequency response. If you turn off the ANC, they sound wrong, the FR gets very messy. So you better keep it on. I think this was explained in the review of the youtuber DMS.
      And, by the way, although they can be powered by a phone, a good amp improves the sound a lot, I honestly wasn't expecting it because I was told that if headphones have good volume, then you don't need the amp, but it turns out that more power allows the bass to rumble as intended, and the highs to sound better, even the soundstage gets bigger.
      I'm still impressed by the QC35ii 3 years later.

      XM4 or XM3 if you prioritize ANC and more functions over comfort, less sweaty ears in hot weather, and user friendly (with physical buttons). On the other hand, if you want higher comfort, less ear fatigue, easier control buttons (physical buttons are better than tough in my opinion), go for QC 35 ii. It depends on what you prioritize. :)

      @@zirak93-2 hi I just got mine a couple days ago and wanted to know that if you put your ANC to high and don't play any music can you also clearly hear the voices of people around you because I can and wanted to know if it's normal

    • @zirak93-2
      @zirak93-2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joshuacooray7786 It's normal, but they should be diminished. With my bose, they get much lower. Also, the background noises become much lower. But once you play music, even calm classical music, the background voices should disappear. Unfortunately, with Bose QC 35 ii technology, they are not able to cancel out high-frequency noises like a train coming towards you, like the Sony Xm4 which are much better than the Bose.
      But from my experience, Bose gives you more comfort and you can wear them longer without any ear fatigue. Also, they don't make your ears so sweaty in warm weather.
      Nevertheless, they need to work on their ANC because Sony is superior at this part. Also, with their headphones, the volume needs to almost be at max to have an enjoyable volume. That comes from a person that hates music with very high volume. What's normal volume level with other headphones, including Xm4, must be at almost max with the Boses. I just hope these issues will be fixed when they release their Bose QC 45.

This really helps me out specially since u seem to know what your talking about thanks 😁 yes I agree I also need to put my volume to a rather high level to have an enjoyable time , but also I wanted to know more if the headphones sound louder at max volume when their used through Blutooth when compared to using them wired ? Cuz when I use my Bose QC 35ii wired it doesn't get as loud as if I were using it switched on and through Blutooth , especially for TH-cam videos using wired is less loud than if I were using Blutooth

    • @zirak93-2
      @zirak93-2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joshuacooray7786 Yeah, I tried the wire once just to check the volume issue. The volume level was similar to how my wired Apple headphones worked. The volume was enjoyable at 40-50 %, but once I switched to Bluetooth I had to go up to 70-80 % to get the same volume. Looks like is something Bose has deliberately done and I think the reason is to avoid their customer to listen to music at high volume for a prolonged time since it can damage your ears. At least, that's my speculation. You'll not find this problem on Sony's XM4.
      I think this is something the company decides to do or not. I also have a pair of wireless Jay headphones with the same issue. Looks like bot Bose and Jay does this to make their customer avoid listening to music at a high volume for a longer time. What's really the con with this is that if you have a track with lower volume, you won't be able to hear this on a satisfactory volume, unfortunately.

      Hi Anthony, thanks for you comment, I would say yes! The Sony 1000XM3 is still the main competitor in my opinion, but I prefer the Bose over those. The new model is Bose 700, but I think the QC35 holds up really well to this day.
      If you're interested in in-ears as well, the new AirPods Pro is a really good option. It's crazy how good the noise cancelling is in those, considering the size. But yeah, if you're looking for over-ear headphones I would say the QC35 is definitely still a buy in 2020 :)

If you’re looking for headphones dedicated to music production, sound design or other professional audio work, something like the M40X, M50X, Beyerdynamic 880 or AKG K701 would be great options. I personally like the characteristics of the Bose - but also have a lot of monitors and other headphones that I work on professionally. The Bose has become the headphone I know the sound of the best and it’s therefore my go-to for both casual listening and audio work at the moment (but that’s my personal headphone philosophy). It’s also very common to have one headphone for either one :)
