- Rebuilding engine Part 1; oil seals, crank, secondary shaft, output shaft, kickstart and sealing the two crankcases back together.
Back in the mid to late 80’s, I was the proud owner of a Vespa P200E which I rattle-can resprayed in a typically 80’s brash colour scheme. For over 30 years, it’s been stuck in a shed, gathering dust and rust.
Can a clueless, inexperienced mechanic bring this beauty back to life?
Many books read, countless videos watched and numerous forums trawled through. There will be mistakes, there will be cock-ups, there will be scraped knuckles, there will be tears BUT there will some serious fun along the way.
This is NOT an instructional video, quite the opposite 😁
Kudos, Dave! I know myself well enough to know I couldn't for the life of me do what you're doing. I can watch you, I understand, and I find it satisfying and enjoyable. But my hands just ain't built that way! Now, on to Rebuilding Engine Pt. 2 in the continuing saga of Vespa P200E restoration...Part 9!
Cheers.
I have a 1995 T5 Classic which I shall be putting back on the road next year.
Thanks for the videos.
I have a number of 1980's original new old stock items, including three driver screens and a 1984 PX Yankee seat
Nicely done, are those new engine cases because they are super clean?
They're the original case. I cleaned as best I could but then gave then a thin coat of high temperature engine paint. Not sure how tough it will be.... we shall see. looks good for now though 🤞
Did you put in the plastic oil guide that sits above Cush drive
There wasn't one fitted when I opened it up so I did some research and found that the early Mk1 PEs didn't have one fitted, it was part of the casing.
