While I was learning and considering carnivore, I longingly read so many comments like these, and now, after 8 months on carnivore I have the experiential cred to add my voice. I am 68, and was sure I would have to replace two knees and a hip in the coming decade. Now, I have not a twinge of joint pain. I had diverticulitis 3 times, terrible IBS, and a hiatel hernia. My gut was always hurting, along with bloating. No pain whatsoever now, after 15 years of suffering. I had no energy, and depression. My moods are now positive, and I have been so busy clearing out stuff from my house, and can go all day with more than enough energy. Plus the little matter of a 45 lb weight loss!! 😊

So awesome!!! I was reading your reply to my husband to encourage him about one of his knees hurting him.. he’s also 68 years old and I’m 66. So that was very encouraging to us so thank you very much for sharing all of this! We appreciate you!!! And he’s been on carnivore almost 8 weeks and I’ve been on carnivore about 94 days so we’re looking forward to even more good health reports and improvements!!!

I’m so happy to hear your testimonial 🙌🏼. I am 5 weeks in with starting Keto and now carnivore. Just had labs and my a1c said I’m pre diabetic and I was concerned. My cholesterol has been high my whole life so I’m not worried bout that cause Dr. Chaffee clarified that myth for me. So how does the A1C go down and how long does it take?

    • @jeffgammons431

@@laurengianna9944 it took 4 months for mine to get to a steady level. Intermittent fasting coupled with carnivore was the powerhouse duo. It will absolutely do the same for you as long as you stay with it and stay consistent. I don’t have “cheat” days. I don’t give myself “reward”. My reward is my victory over sickness. My contentment is my peace of mind knowing I’m finally winning. I see in the mirror my progress. I feel it in the baggieness of my clothes. Food is fuel. Nothing more. I eat what is needed and get back to my life. It’s so liberating not having or wanting to worry about my next “epically” awesome meal. I promise this works. It doesn’t happen overnight. But it will happen. Baby steps. Stay focused. 100% get educated. Watching tons of carnivore and intermittent fasting videos have made a huge impact on my outlook. You’re going to do great.

@@laurengianna9944 I was also pre-diabetic in my late 40's. By the time I hit 60, everything spiraled. I had terrible foot pain (hot, prickling, and painful heels; could hardly get my shoes on). My eyesight was getting worse, and had anxiety attacks 15" after eating. Migraines, Fibromyalgia, heart palpitations and fatigue were the order of the day. I have no idea why the Dr never ordered another blood test during that decade, so I have to assume my numbers only went up. I had Gestational Diabetes when I was pregnant with my 4th child in my early 40's, and that doctor warned me that I had a 75% chance of becoming diabetic 20 years down the road. So I can only guess he was correct.
Anyway, to answer your question I'm guessing it's not a quick fix but it will come down. My A1C dropped into the normal range (5.4-5.6) and has stayed there for the past two years. I was doing keto/ketovore for at least 9 months before that blood test. It may have already gone down months before that, but the dr didn't do the test until then. All the symptoms I had disappeared one-by-one as each month passed. I decided to go Carnivore two years ago and I will never return to the SAD diet. I'm a totally different person and feel better now than I did in my 20's!
So hang in there and give your body the time it needs to heal. It will reward you for not poisoning it with junk.

It takes a solid 6 months to adjust to any new extreme diet. Not sure how long the woman in the first question has been on carnivore, but our hormones don’t balance out overnight (I wish!) healing our gut and bodies takes time. I wouldn’t give up on it before at least 6 months strict carnivore. Patience is hard for me too, so I get it. This is a long game, but it’s worth it 💖

    • @Macfromwales

The time it takes to adjust is directly proportional to the amount of time you have not been in ketosis and have been eating incorrectly.

Then a few days of being cold cos my body couldn't get warm at first with a slight runny nose as it switched over but nothing near a cold or flu. Then one day I woke up and BLAM! No more aching after the gym for example or I felt massively positive all the time or my body fat shot down completely effortlessly to 7.6% and stayed there with zero effort (the same as Brad Pitt in fight club it's great beyond words and takes zero work)or..actually ill be here all day the list of benefits is endless. I added eating some fat from hamburger but that was too much for me if I ate fat of ribeye..Then I tried browning the fat from my ribeyes and eating most of that and that works better for me and I get too loose of stool’s if I eat too much of it!

Back when I started in august, I've had a period where my mood plummeted and my mood was rather sorrowful. It seems to me being in connection with shugar withdrawal, and with lack of fat. So if one day you find yourself unmotivated to get up from bed, it might be just that: sugar depletion. Therefore, my advice: if you are transitioning to carnivore from a diet that had some shugar in it, and you are crashing down in withdrawal, keep just a tiny bit of shugar for start. Like, 1 teaspoon for a cup of tea in the morning, if you still drink tea.

My hair fell out after the first 4-9 months of eating carnivore and losing ,at that point, over 50 lbs. Just as it stopped she'd ding and started to grow back, I had a total knee replacement and 3 months later my hair began to fall out again. So I’ve concluded that shock to the system can cause hair to go into that resting, non-growth phase which normally lasts an average of 3 months before shedding then new hair growth cycle happens. It sucks but really does get better.

Here's what I suggest : check out the entire digestion system and diet. Check what comes out of the process - urine, faeces . Check out organs that support digestion. If this doesn't supply answers THEN look for other causes to explain symptoms. I.e the opposite of what doctors do today. Like a car - check the fuel tank, the fuel , the fuel line before you take the motor apart.

I thought I was the only one who was “scared” to stretch at night lol. I would stretch while asleep and wake up to unbearable pain. It felt like the muscle was going to rip off the bone. Then a Charlie horse for the next few days. Water (hydration), magnesium, and salt greatly helped. I just had to be careful when I would sweat a lot, like on a hike in the summer, that I would intake more water and electrolytes.

He is worried about his kidneys, for 2 reasons:
    - because his urine is quite foamy, which is apparently due to an excess of proteins
    - he has dark circles under his eyes, which is apparently due to dysfunctional kidneys

Just to comment on the first question answered, I noticed the same thing upon starting.
After a short while I noticed 'WHAT' type of meat I ate made a very BIG difference in how satisfied (happy/good) I felt afterwards. I started with steak and hamburger... those two types of meat did not nearly give me the same fine feeling of satisfaction 'cozy full' as when I switched to flat iron steak and chuck roast (hopefully, I have translated these correctly. In dutch they are called Sukade and Riblap)
After making this, add a good amout of butter on top. This meal will leave you feeling very satisfied! (emotionally as well!)

I had kidney pain as well, when I first switched to keto about 3 months ago (I’m prolly 99% carnivore now). It happened only at night and when I would lay on my back. There was about a 2 week span of time where my kidneys just *ached* at night. I’d wake up from the discomfort and have to roll onto my side. My husband looked into it for me and apparently some ppl (I think it’s rare) do experience some kidney pain when going keto. I’m not sure why? But it sure did happen to ME. I’ve had a lot of UTIs over my life so I’m acutely aware of where my kidneys are located, and the pain was very distinct. But I just kept on, the pain never got any worse, eventually it got less and less and went away entirely. Keep drinking water and having electrolytes. Well, specifically salt. That’s what I did. ♥️

Mold & Carnivore: I found out I was sensitive to mold years ago and took the VCS test, got on Cholestiramine and healed sort of, because at that time Shoemaker was not recommending Carnivore. (The rest of my family just get allergies to mold, I get CIRS) We recently had a roof leak and I tested positive and had symptoms of CIRS again. I found Nutrition with Judy (Carnivore) This time I have gone Carnivore and even with the Cholestiramine, I have gotten better faster, and even wonder if I stay on Carnivore, if I can avoid the worst and catch mold issues sooner. The Cholsetiramine or Welchol (lowers cholseterol) is pretty easy to get if your LDL is highish since most Dr.s want you to lower cholsterol and eating plenty of fat makes it much easier, and it is only for a few months...although the Dr. will want you on it forever...you still get to decide to get a refill or not.

.?? I'm a type 1 diabetic going carnivore a week, was keto 8 yrs prior. On a pump and having a hard time staying on target. A lot of highs then lows from correcting. Having bolus issues? 3 meals per day

A week!? You've experienced a lot of highs and lows from slipping up and correcting in a week?? Come along now friend. You're not in ketosis, you're only lying to yourself. Try it, it's our biologically appropriate diet but you have to cold turkey off sugar treating it like the drug it is or there is literally no point because you just waste your money paying for a runny poop because your body will just dump the fat straight out as its on the sugar/glycogen paradigm
