People weren't happy about Vader choke pun? Vader uses dark humor ALL the time! I'm too lazy to list all of them here but he's done that in all 3 originals.
*Krennic wants to gain favor from the Emperor and asks Vader where he stands, if he's still in command or not* *Vader chokes Krennic* *Krennic falls to the floor* *Vader turns with his fingers clenched* "Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director" *Vader walks away*
I am not native, but what is the point of the joke actually? I mean, ok, he refers to choking, but when I translate it into German, it doesn't sound like anything special to me.
I really dont know why a lot of people were upset with Vader saying "Do not choke on your arrogance" as he was force strangling Director Krennic, i thought it was cool, not cheesy and stupid, i also thought he was being serious.

+Corey Mckee If you search up pictures of sullust and mustafar and compare them to what you remember from the movie, you will see a clear resemblance to sullust. Pablo Hidalgo does not have the greatest knowledg of Star Wars, and if it was confirmed to be Mustafar, then there would have been a mistake or misconception between what was in the movie and what was instructed.
Everyone here is antisocial and you're not going to retrain them overnight. They're basically HUMAN SCUM the same type of behaviour as earth bacteria. They're not educated enough to actually speak back to you. You'll have much better friends with dogs than humans born after 1975. Humans born after 1975 are ALL ego maniacs and they were never taught how to communicate to the older generations of humans born before them.
I was too sad at that point to where I couldn't enjoy seeing vaders slaughter of rebels and seeing leia again. the saddest for me was jyn & cassian, chirrut and Baze, and K-2SO in that order. Baze taking one last look at chirrut before he dies :( and even after I was happy to see Red and Gold leader too...
It got me fucked up but it was probably trying to be realistic because of the absence of plot armor. And the ending was probably the most interesting imo because of the irony of krennic's death and it showed the loyalty of each rebel to where they'll still get their job done even if they know they're going to die and I liked that they showed that. Also the ending really did connect with the beginning of a new hope except for leia's excuse for being on the ship of it being on a diplomatic mission but it was on the run from the battle
besides r2 and c3po are always around leia. so it also shows leia was in the base at the same time as organa. so before they left organa was able to personally relay a message to leia to receive the plans and get the jedis help. they wouldnt risk a message liek that over a com in fear that it will get intercepted by the imperials. so again they were able do it in person tbh i think it was well placed
I don't get why people think the face recreaction for Leia and that other guy i forgot his name wasnt amazing..I actually thought it was them even tho it wasnt lol. 10/10 for me on this movie :) even tho no one cares about my rating of Rogue one xD
KingOfDiamonds I loved it. Tarkin's recreation was both stunning and sorta weird because Peter Cushing has been dead for over 20 years. Princess Leia's face was noticeably CGI, but it was done so well that it never took me out of the moment.
I watched yesterday and honestly it's wayyy better than Force Awakens, I loved this movie, when I walked from Force Awakens I was trying to lie to myself saying I loved but I thought it was disappointing BUT this....I walked out wanting to watch it again and again 9-10 from me
I honestly loved the force awakens, the perfect relaunch of this franchise but I did like this movie more. the best thing I can say about this movie is that I can never watch a new hope without rogue one now.
Me too FA I liked but now I see to many flaws in it. This one was weak in character development but damn the Scarith scene was awesome in every way. Damn Vader ending was epic they should of given us some more that was just flawless Vader he makes SW's no matter what scene you put him in its just that he is SW's.
Vader's phrase sounded like "I find your lack of faith disturbing," or "The Emperor is not as forgiving as I am." I don't think that it was a stupid joke.
It is Obi-Wan and the she he mentions is the messenger sent to get Obi, which is Leia, Bail is told to send a messenger he trusts, and he says he trusts her with his life, aka his adopted daughter
I can't believe how many people fail to make the distinction between the 2 different people they talk about. You'd almost think English isn't your first language.
its not that she people are getting confused with its the "she helped me a lot during the clone wars" thats making people think they are refering to ahsoka. on top of that organa and ahsoka have a huge history together especially considering hes the one that got her to help the alliance. even i am onthe fense of thinking he meant ahsoka at that point and i have to watch it again. tons of people heard she in that part and sadly i dont think we will be able to come to a conclusion until the novel comes out
C-3PO and R2-D2's cameo made sense since they were with Organa. The one that felt out of place to me was the two thugs from Mos Eisley, but it didn't take me out of the film.
N Slater Especially when you realize the city and the surrounding area, an area roughly the size of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana by what I estimate, was destroyed in a "mining accident.". They did have enough time to get off the planet, but it seemed unlikely.
@ Tom S. - They could've been heading to their ship right then and been gone before the shootout even took place. Saying they couldn't have gotten off the planet in time is assuming they were still there when the Death Star test took place.
Colorless Man I know. I am so sick of the criticism about lack of character development. I simply don't understand what people want. Did anyone really shed a tear when Obi Wan died? Did anyone even like Luke at first?
What did you think of the Bail organa part? Contrary to my fears as soon as I saw him did he really fit in, and I truly felt dread as soon as he left for alderaan
The end was amazing! the girl dies killed by the weapon her father created, is like if she was taking the blame. And all the troopers were obliterated by the weapon they helped to build. When the death star was on the horizon... wow... No one life was of value.
Did anyone have a problem ? That there was no opening crawl the movie seems like it's not a Starwars movie without an opening crawl especially the one they showed at celebration
I felt the same way at first, but the opening crawl usually dictates what's going on at the present time. Since this movie opened up years in the past, and then fast forwards to the present... having an opening crawl wouldn't have worked for Rogue One.
[SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!] [SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!] As for the CGI characters, i think this is something that only hardcore fan o very nitpicky eyes will catch. I watched it with my sister, and she didn't know that Peter Cushing died 20 years ago, she thought it was a real character until I told her halfway through the movie "it's a CGI character", she couldn't believe it! Of course Leia was more noticeable but I didn't mind because they were so incredibly good. I loved Red Leader and Gold Leader because they are a nice homage to the original trilogy, I didn't mind that, like the destruction of Red 5, very nice touch. The only thing that made me cringe a little were the two guys from the Mos Eisley cantina (I don't remember their names) on Jedha. I felt that they were out of place, and I agree with you when you say that it would have been cooler to see R2 and C3PO on the ship at the end rather than on Yavin 4. The movie was incredible, for me it was much more "rewarding" than The Force Awakens (which is still I think a better "movie" in regards of characters and pacing), because despite the first half a little choppy and with some character development problems, the crescendo towards the end is FANTASTIC. It was SO SO SO intense, just awesome. ps: rewatching the first trailers I think the reshoots changed the plot a little. In the trailer there are so many scenes that are not in the movie (like Jyn walking on top of the tower towards the TIE Fighter). I know this happens a lot, but the trailers make it very noticeable!
I saw that they were CGI. when we were in the restaurant I said "how they made Tarkin CGI is amazing! and my dad was like "oh, I thought they casted a really good actor"
Not if English is not his/her native language. I'm from Hungary, so spellcheck underlines every single word in this sentence, except for is (because it means "as well" in Hungarian). So don't need to be nitpicky with so. elses spelling.
I loved the film too, but I have to admit that I didn't see the ghost once and I missed the Hera reference. Maybe I saw chopper but I'm not quite sure. Can you tell me the scenes they were in?
Leon Rambach I want to say you can see the ghost in the scene before the different squadron commanders sound off. The Syndulla reference occurs right after the Rebels reject Jyns idea of attacking Scarif "General Syndulla, report to the briefing hall". I don't recall seeing chopper.
I heard the reference but I was wondering who they were calling out because the name was familiar. Only until this video, I understand this. But was it her or her father?
1993DJC I honestly don't understand how people don't realise it's cgi. Maybe it's different if watched in 3D, but otherwise it has uncanny valley written over it so clearly, it's unsettling. Don't people recognise a real human face anymore? Also I find this practice unethical. It just seems wrong to put an actor's name and face on a performance that isn't their's.
[SPOILER] I love how Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor hug each other tightly as the shockwave comes toward them. It wasn't anything romantic; just two humans wanting phycial contact in the last moments of their lives. Beautiful and kind of heartbreaking.
Noted on character development. Would it be wise to read Catalyst then prior to the movie so at least you get some background on Krennic, the Erso's and without dropping spoilers Grand Moff Tarkin given what he would pull in the movie.
I absolutely flipped out when hearing James Earl Jones' badass voice when Vader spoke. Also I geeked out when I saw the scene where Jyn was being transported in an A6 Juggernaut
Personally I say no. But it depends on what you're looking for. TFA was more fun and lighthearted and Rogue One was more serious and moody. Both were very good, but in different ways. I love Rogue One though!
They actually didn't take the scenes from A New Hope proper, Gareth found unused film footage of the battle of yavin and cut around it and cleaned it up.
For what is Ahsoka important for the movies? Many of the people, who watch Rogue One, have never heard the name, Ahsoka! Sorry, but what a stupid theory.
Omar Correa Force awakens characters were incredibly inconsistent and made no sense when you think about them a little deeper. I'm super satisfied with how these characters turned out, considering they only had one movie to pack all of this into. They all had their purposes and it was a very diverse cast. Some of the more interesting characters we've seen in star wars, and they only had one movie to do it. I was pleased with the consistency of the characters, as well. Definitely much more than that of force awakens.
Omar Correa They certainly didn't develop Rey's prodigy handling with the Force... Rey was also boring and a mystery, the only good ones for me were Finn and Poe.
Great movie. And I love your channel. Definitely best Star Wars Channel out there. No click bait rumor stuff, just pure facts and tons of knowledge. Great.
why was the new jedi order and the rebel base and the alliance base on Yavin 4. Didnt they know it was a sith world a long time ago? would the dark side be stronger there?
I hated krenic Death I wanted Vader to kill Him not the Death Star he should have escaped scariff and Vader would have said you failed me for the last time choked him to death
The significance of his death was poetic. His arogence and demand to take full credit for the Death Star bit him in the ass as his own creation became his demise.
In my mind Krennic's death (Jyn and Cassian's as well) was the most powerful part of the film. It shows the cruelty of Tarkin and the entire Empire. It shows them like who they are and what they'll do not for the good of the galaxy but for achieving their own good and PAWAH.
Not finished the video yet, but I feel like I should point out something. (And I know I'm like a year late to the party, so someone's probably said this before) Red Leader and Gold Leader's scenes were not recycled shots from A New Hope, they're actually clips and takes that were edited out or not used. During production, they were going through a bunch of archival film reels, and someone noticed a stack of reels off to the side, and asked what it was. The answer was "Oh, that's just a bunch of unused footage and stuff from the original Star wars. Did you wanna have a look at it?" Yes. All of the yes. Also, the actor who played Gold Leader is still alive, and did record his lines in the film, to dub over the video. As for Biggs, would have been cool to see, but technically, canonically, he was still aboard an Imperial cruiser at the time. It wasn't until after he talked to Luke at Tosche's Station that he mentioned his plan to jump ship and join the Rebellion, which was after the Devastator arrived over Tatooine. (I wonder if Biggs was stationed on the Devastator?) However, I've been told that wedge Antilles' voice can be heard over the intercom on Yavin Base. For R2-D2 and C3PO, it might have made more sense for them to be on board the Tantive IV, but it would have kinda killed the mood. Maybe if Captain Antilles had yelled at them to get back on the ship so they could take off..
To be fair, Vader was the pun master originally. "Apology accepted captain Needa", not to mention the non-stop puns and jokes (that are both terrifying and funny) in the new comics
in the spoiler part, you said you wanted a biggs callout, but you forget that he didn't actually join them until after the start of a new hope, but it was a deleted scene but I prefer to think that is canon.
Behind the scenes footage showed Biggs at Yavin, but they may have removed him for this exact reason. I do think that scene is considered canon. But I'd be willing to overlook it for more Biggs haha
Rogue One: Catalyst made the movie 10x better for me honestly. I already knew Galen, Jyn and Lyra well; so their deaths was emotional for me. The book also described Orson Krennic perfectly
*Warning spoilers!* the only thing I missed was seeing the death star jump out of light speed and just popping up in the middel of the battle field crushing some rebel ships in the progress
because its not in the movie, the death star appears over the horizon of the planet creating a spectacular wide shot, thats what happens in the movie anyway
+Brian Boardwell I stand corrected then... That's too bad. It really looked like the citadel and would have made a nice continuity nod (It was used as a prison for dark jedi/sith and then jedi during the clone war... would have made a nice symbol for Vader to litterally live in a prison
Rey, Finn and Poe are really charismatic and relatable characters (with amazing actors behind them). Most of the characters in RO are really jaded people, affected by war, there's also the fact that we didn't get to know them very well, wich affected a lot their characterization.
Tier100 But, contrary to TFA, these characters were underdevelope as hell. The only character we actually know something about is Jyn and, oddly enough, K-2S0. The others are just... nameless soldiers in a war.
weird isnt it? i can connect better to regular nameless people better than to "the best pilot in the universe poe" or "im super woman ray" or "hey im a brainwashed stormtrooper but all that doesnt matter within seconds when i turn against the empire"
Wouldn't Biggs still be on Tatooine at the time of the Battle of Scarif? I don't know if deleted scenes are canon or not (well in my opinion they sort of are), but remember the deleted scene from ANH where Luke meets Biggs at Tosche Station? So I don't think Biggs would've been at Yavin IV yet
TheDoctorFilms There's a scene where Shaak Ti is killed by Grevous in EP 3 that's deleted and not considered canon so I assume most deleted scenes are not canon
The most awesome thing for me was Blue Squadron! Apart from General Merrick, that subtle reference to the color McQuarrie wanted for X-wings was so perfect!
+TheMangakid1995 Tarkin looked mostly alright to me, but it's the movement that I didn't like quite as much. Animated facial expressions are hard to get right, especially with realistic features. He looked like a video game character during part of it. I had no issue with Leia.
Of all the reviews I have read and seen of this movie, yours is the first in which I agree with you on every point. You just earned yourself a subscriber.
I felt so emotional when each character died. I thought they were all cool and I was sad to see them go but it just made the importance of their mission and their struggle to what they fight against so much greater.
HEY!!! I have a question in rouge one when there about to go though the shield you can see a storm trooper outside in space, can all storm troopers do this he looked like we was stranding guard and protecting it which means that he had to be out in space for a while so can all troopers do this or is it a unique trooper kind sand troopers or snow troopers
This is my favorite Star Wars Movie. A couple questions though... 1. What was the original purpose of the Kyber Crystal Necklace? (aside from being an heirloom) 2. Why was Leia even on the Rebel Flagship? Bail said he was sending her to the store to pick up a Kenobi. 3. What happened between them landing on the planet where Jyn's dad was and he getting blasted off the landing platform? I took a restroom break at that time. 4. What ever happened to Sogarero's line " what will you do when they catch you? What will you do when they break you? What will you become?"
King Ross yes he did that AFTER the storm troopers cleared the path, and there's arguably even less rebel soldiers aboard the Tantive as well. Vader was literally an arms reach away from the plans you would think he'd be the first one to blast through the Tantive door. But i'm just being picky because i totally loved the movie
pretty much agree with your whole analysis, especially the part about saw gerrera. I just love how they've implemented all these references. Cornelius & Ponda Baba in particular.
i was hoping Jyn and Cassian was not going to get romantic before they died. it looked like they were gonna kiss but i was gonna rage at the movie if it happened.
I don't know if I remember this correctly but the scene from the trailer where Krennic tells Vader about the immeasurable power they are holding was not in the movie, was it?
***MINOR SPOILERS*** I suspect that the only reason for the quicker than light R2 and 3PO cameo/joke was to preserve the record of them being the only characters to appear in every Star Wars film to date. It's probably impossible to keep that streak going forever, but I can see why they wouldn't want to let it go. It's not a great gag. But it is basically the last moment of levity in the entire film, so what the hell.
This movie was true star wars. It had everything star wars content needs, great movie. There was a reason George Lucas liked this film more than TFA, everything was so meaningful.
The force is with me and im one with the force.
Ozzy "really I'm already blind" xD
I fear nothing!
All is as the force wields it.
Ozzy The force is with me and I'm one with the force be with you
chirrut and his friend :(((
"Are you kidding me? I'm aleady blind."
I died at that joke.
Probably my favorite line lol
James McTrollington me to!
I died
that wuz gr8
ikr
People weren't happy about Vader choke pun? Vader uses dark humor ALL the time! I'm too lazy to list all of them here but he's done that in all 3 originals.
Tom Barnes, I haven't watched it, please explain what the pun was
*Krennic wants to gain favor from the Emperor and asks Vader where he stands, if he's still in command or not*
*Vader chokes Krennic*
*Krennic falls to the floor*
*Vader turns with his fingers clenched*
"Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Director"
*Vader walks away*
I am not native, but what is the point of the joke actually? I mean, ok, he refers to choking, but when I translate it into German, it doesn't sound like anything special to me.
Markus Bopp he's using a pun. He's force choking him and calling it out as an ironic term.
Tom Barnes People seem to forget that time when he choked Captain Needa and right after says, "Apology accepted Captain Needa"
I really dont know why a lot of people were upset with Vader saying "Do not choke on your arrogance" as he was force strangling Director Krennic, i thought it was cool, not cheesy and stupid, i also thought he was being serious.
The Sloth of Wisdom aspirations not arrogance
Let's not forget that Vader made a sarcastic joke when he killed Captain Needa in Episode V.
12:28
i thought that Bodhi's death was great because not all main characters get memorable deaths. in a war any one of them could've died at any time
TohDoh agreed
i was thinking the exact same thing.
Exactly. It was so unexpected but realistic at the same time.
TohDoh Bodhi's death caught me off guard. I felt they teased it a little when he was caught in the crossfire, but when he made back to the ship I figured he was in the clear…until the grenade.
I know what you mean, and that might be to some people's tastes, but imo it didn't quite work as a story and as a film.
i saw chopper!!
WHERE?? I was looking the whole time on Yavin and I missed him.
When the comms private runs to Mon Mothma, on the left of the screen and you can hear it too.
Geekdom101 i heard hera syndulla's name during the movie, omg the movie was incredible
Thank you!
Someone really needs to hurry up and post a picture of it!
that vader scene IS my favorite star wars scene ever.
was the bacta tank on mustafar or was it sullust?
irishboy664 Mustafar.
cool thanks!
irishboy664 i think it is sullust. When you could see the landscape it was much more flat and did not have huge lava pools like mustafar did.
JohnnyFingerboards It was confirmed to be Mustafar.
see i thought it was sullust too but yeah it's confirmed to be mustafar from the art of rogue one book. bit annoying when EVERY PLANET has a subtitle except that one.
Vader does joke. He accepted an apology very sagely after force choking the now dead apologizer in a prior movie.
Yep. Captain Needa in Episode V.
“Apology accepted, Captain Needa.”
I hope the final Rebels Episodes will happen at the Battle of Scarif
Would be so amazinggg
AND ROGUE ONE is L O V E
sich a great movie ;-;
hell yes man!
One thing to note: The Ghost was at the Battle of Scariff. And the rebel fleet was massacred. So what happened to it?
Phaeron Some ships escaped but a few crashed into the star destroyer that came out of hyperspace. I assume the Ghost was one that escaped
Earl Dosdos Your not alone
Project "Darksaber" mentioned just before Project Stardust. Just a nod, or a sign of what's to happen to Sabine and Mandalore?
it was actually project "black saber", but yeah
In the Legends series, the Hutts get the plans to the Deathstar and build only the cannon and call it the Darksaber.
I almost teared up when red and gold leader came onto screen
Spider Man I'm sure you liked the Walking Thingies too😉
Otti-Wan Kenobler I did yes
Me too!
It was such seamless inclusion and surprise. I loved it.
Spider Man it was awsomeeeee!!!!

Vader: "Is that even a joke?"
Palpatine: "i don't know! why are you asking me?!"
AdmiralOctopus
The Vader scene was so good! And I can't really put in the list yet either. I want to see it a second time first
AdmiralOctopus ha! It's like Robot Chicken humor
You were saying about the thugs from A New Hope.
Do you think they are definitely the same (because I thought the scars on his face looked a little different to the guy in the cantina), or do you think it might just be a similar looking pair with similar dialogue that Edwards used to nod to ANH?

+Corey Mckee That actually was not Mustafar, I believe it was the planet Sullest. This is where many imperial vehicles are designed and produced.
JohnnyFingerboards if you'd gladly come up with proof of that then I'd gladly accept that answer.
JohnnyFingerboards check out Dash star's channel he posted a video on the subject. and Pablo Hidalgo confirmed it WAS mustafar on twitter.! and Disney just dident aknowledge that it was mustafar in the film cause it was a direct link to the prequels and episode 3! stupid arrogant Disney!

JohnnyFingerboards well. I believe it's mustafar so that's all that I care about
Why does everyone complain about the vader joke. Remember "apology accepted"
It's hard not to imagine Vader smiling behind his mask when he starts choking Motti. Or when Tarkin is shocked by Leia lying to him about Dantooine.
I liked it
when I got home from the movie me and my dad went straight to watching A new hope lol
Brackeen did the exact same!!
Wanted to, but it was already midnight and I was busy. :(
Brackeen I wish sleep and my need for watching every Easter egg video didn't exist so I could've done the same

BOOMER DETECTED
My heart ached when they all died
The Gaming Geek Agreed. I was genuinely moved as they died off. And I honestly did not anticipate that. I was emotionally invested for sure.
Ivan Lendl the one i was most sad for was Donny Yens character, jyn, and Kassian
Also the ending really did connect with the beginning of a new hope except for leia's excuse for being on the ship of it being on a diplomatic mission but it was on the run from the battle
that makes that scene better I thik. cause its an obvious lie now- and vader cutting it down makes more sense.
They put C3po and R2 in the movie to still have them in every single Star Wars movie. Just a guess ;)
Toffi Kai thats what i thought
Toffi Kai and they should do it until it's completely imossible!
Шура Шпилькин what about Han Solo Movie :O
Toffi Kai yea there the only characters in every single movie so they had to be in there I liked that scene.
besides r2 and c3po are always around leia. so it also shows leia was in the base at the same time as organa. so before they left organa was able to personally relay a message to leia to receive the plans and get the jedis help.
they wouldnt risk a message liek that over a com in fear that it will get intercepted by the imperials. so again they were able do it in person
tbh i think it was well placed
that hallway scene felt like a horror movie
Which was why it was perfect
I think Vader's joke was reminiscent of Anakin's personality in the Clone Wars. I think it was a fantastic Easter Egg.
Sven Servette Yep. didn't phase me one bit. Why do people mind this?
Vader could be really sarcastic even in the OT.
I lost my mind when I heard General Syndulla!!!
same
Me too! But I though it was Cham Syndulla.
Isn't he dead by that point?
Dylandorf I didn't hear her!!? When does she speak?
Dylandorf I was hoping I would see Cham. I guess hearing his name was good enough
I don't get why people think the face recreaction for Leia and that other guy i forgot his name wasnt amazing..I actually thought it was them even tho it wasnt lol. 10/10 for me on this movie :) even tho no one cares about my rating of Rogue one xD
KingOfDiamonds the guy who played Tarkin was the same guy who played him in ROTS
their faces were spot on
Well, it couldn't have been peter cushing because he has been dead for almost 20 years. so they had to do cgi
KingOfDiamonds I thought it was good
KingOfDiamonds I loved it. Tarkin's recreation was both stunning and sorta weird because Peter Cushing has been dead for over 20 years. Princess Leia's face was noticeably CGI, but it was done so well that it never took me out of the moment.
I watched yesterday and honestly it's wayyy better than Force Awakens, I loved this movie, when I walked from Force Awakens I was trying to lie to myself saying I loved but I thought it was disappointing BUT this....I walked out wanting to watch it again and again 9-10 from me
11/10 first impression
I honestly loved the force awakens, the perfect relaunch of this franchise but I did like this movie more. the best thing I can say about this movie is that I can never watch a new hope without rogue one now.
Yep. This is a good movie all on it's own. TFA, out of its context, is a really dumb movie.
I see what you mean about the characters not having enough time, but it's supposed to show that the good guys die. It's the price of war.
The ending was the most perfect thing I've seen in my life and I didn't even get to see it that well from all the tears in my eyes!
the saber in the dark was my favorite scene!
Me too. I wish they could have rewound it and shown it again. That was incredible.
William Jakespeare did you guys hear the call out tp the projects in the library thing? Pax aurora, dark saber, and others, was so awesome
+Pablo Leiva (Mr_Pv) yeah, caught those Easter eggs
That's a cool name lol "William Jakespeare" 😁👍
You missed the fact that bail goes to get a Jedi veteran from the clone wars (who I suspect is Either Kanan Jarrus or Ahsoka)
It's Obi-Wan.
Star Wars Explained I think in the movie Bail said "she" when referring to the Jedi.
You'd almost think English isn't your first language.
its not that she people are getting confused with its the "she helped me a lot during the clone wars" thats making people think they are refering to ahsoka. on top of that organa and ahsoka have a huge history together especially considering hes the one that got her to help the alliance.
even i am onthe fense of thinking he meant ahsoka at that point and i have to watch it again. tons of people heard she in that part and sadly i dont think we will be able to come to a conclusion until the novel comes out
To me ROGUE ONE is THE FILM I have been waiting for almost 30 years.
"FOR JEDHA"
"For the Empire!"
Nothing will stand in the way of the Empire!
For our home towns!
Saying they couldn't have gotten off the planet in time is assuming they were still there when the Death Star test took place.
it was a war movie, characteristics and such don't get built up o. look at saving private Ryan.
Colorless Man I know. I am so sick of the criticism about lack of character development. I simply don't understand what people want. Did anyone really shed a tear when Obi Wan died? Did anyone even like Luke at first?
Marley James true the movie was way better than force awaken
What did you think of the Bail organa part? Contrary to my fears as soon as I saw him did he really fit in, and I truly felt dread as soon as he left for alderaan
The end was amazing! the girl dies killed by the weapon her father created, is like if she was taking the blame. And all the troopers were obliterated by the weapon they helped to build. When the death star was on the horizon... wow... No one life was of value.
biggs was probably with luke on tattoine in that deleted scene
Did anyone have a problem ? That there was no opening crawl the movie seems like it's not a Starwars movie without an opening crawl especially the one they showed at celebration
I felt the same way at first, but the opening crawl usually dictates what's going on at the present time. Since this movie opened up years in the past, and then fast forwards to the present... having an opening crawl wouldn't have worked for Rogue One.
[SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!]
[SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!][SPOILERS!]
As for the CGI characters, i think this is something that only hardcore fan o very nitpicky eyes will catch.
DavoTGM my thoughts! :)
I saw that they were CGI. when we were in the restaurant I said "how they made Tarkin CGI is amazing! and my dad was like "oh, I thought they casted a really good actor"
DavoTGM I'm not a hardcore fan and I knew who he was lol
'cast' There is no 'Casted' your spell check should tell you that.
Leon Rambach I didn't see the ghost but I heard "captain sendulla..report to.."' on yavin. Sendulla being last name of Hera
Special Ed Center I'm aware that Heras last name is Syndulla I just didn't hear the line.
Leon Rambach I want to say you can see the ghost in the scene before the different squadron commanders sound off. The Syndulla reference occurs right after the Rebels reject Jyns idea of attacking Scarif "General Syndulla, report to the briefing hall". I don't recall seeing chopper.
Just before they all leave in the stolen cargo craft you can see the Ghost off to the far left in a hanger :)
I heard the reference but I was wondering who they were calling out because the name was familiar. Only until this video, I understand this. But was it her or her father?
I cried watching the end Alex😰
Gabriel Fernandez me too
Obvious CGI on Leia and Tarkin was obvious. Also loved the scene with Vader and the Rebel trooper squad
Ryan Olivier It wasn't obvious at all.
Ryan Olivier Leia was obvious, probably last minute job. I thought Tarkin was well done.
I agree. Tarkin bothered me in every scene.
1993DJC
I honestly don't understand how people don't realise it's cgi. Maybe it's different if watched in 3D, but otherwise it has uncanny valley written over it so clearly, it's unsettling. Don't people recognise a real human face anymore?
Also I find this practice unethical. It just seems wrong to put an actor's name and face on a performance that isn't their's.
***** probably because I'm a hardcore gamer who plays a lot of graphics intensive games so I have an eye for CGI characters
i saw the movie and it was really awesome
ikr
Lukas Thx that last scene...
Joe Kaput vader was incredible, how he easily sliced all the rebels... that was a scene the word epic was made for
Best scene of the year.
[SPOILER]
I love how Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor hug each other tightly as the shockwave comes toward them. It wasn't anything romantic; just two humans wanting phycial contact in the last moments of their lives. Beautiful and kind of heartbreaking.
That was mustifar I thought it was sullust
Graham Mandryk also thought it was sullust. There isn't enough lava to be mustafar. Well it could be a new planet however
That's what I thought mustifar had wat more lava Mabel it's a smaller point of lava
Pablo Hidlago confirmed that it is Mustafar, on Twitter.
TheGeekSteve but why didnt the movie show that? Everytime we go to a new planet we see its name down to the left
TheGeekSteve then perhaps it's on north of mustafar. There might be less lava there
generally syndulla please report to the briefing hall

King Matthew *General
i lol'd
Noted on character development. Would it be wise to read Catalyst then prior to the movie so at least you get some background on Krennic, the Erso's and without dropping spoilers Grand Moff Tarkin given what he would pull in the movie.
Yes, now having seen the film I would recommend you read Catalyst to get the full story.
I absolutely flipped out when hearing James Earl Jones' badass voice when Vader spoke.
Also I geeked out when I saw the scene where Jyn was being transported in an A6 Juggernaut
so... Rogue One > Force Awakens?
Pedro Reyes yes
in my eyes yes
Yes
As somebody mentioned here: With ep. 7 I felt I have to force myself loving it, with Rogue One, I don't.
Personally I say no. But it depends on what you're looking for. TFA was more fun and lighthearted and Rogue One was more serious and moody. Both were very good, but in different ways.
I love Rogue One though!
I prefer TFA
For Tarken's CGI I could tell he wasn't real but I was taken back a few times realizing he wasn't real but he looked so real.
It was weirdly cool imo.
"Don't choke on your aspirations." I think. I only saw it once so far. Going to see it 57 more times
Be careful not to choke on your aspirations.
They actually didn't take the scenes from A New Hope proper, Gareth found unused film footage of the battle of yavin and cut around it and cleaned it up.
Wait, when bail was talking with mon motha about a clone wars Jedi. Did he talk about Obi wan or Ahsoka
i heard him say"her"I
with her, I think he meant Leia, he trusts his life to get to Obi-Wan.
Realy? Of course, Kenobi!
io9.gizmodo.com/all-the-major-star-wars-cameos-and-connections-you-may-1790195147 - check under "Mon Mothma Asks Bail Organa to Get Obi-Wan"
For what is Ahsoka important for the movies? Many of the people, who watch Rogue One, have never heard the name, Ahsoka! Sorry, but what a stupid theory.
I like that Galen put the exhaust port there so that the rebels can destroy the Death Star.
Their deaths may not have seemed cinematic, but they died the ways soldiers do on the battlefield
Feel the exact way about the lack of character development. Force Awakens handled it better with it's new characters.
Omar Correa, With character development, comes character development hate
Lol I've never heard of that kind of hate but you could also say that about anything
Read Catalyst and everything will make much more sense.
Biggs was shown in it mate...
Can you remember where? I know he was there from behind the scenes stuff but I missed him in the actual movie.
Piloting his X Wing mate, right near the end...i nearly wee'd myself...lol
But, the Clone Turbo Tank really did it for me, all drab and Imperial looking...
Thanks, I'm sure I'll see it again this weekend so I'll keep an eye out.
No worries mate! Enjoy! 😉
I noticed that the vehicle where Jyn Erso was captured before she was rescued by K2SO was a clone turban tank from ROTS.
I thought it was amazing! It makes A New Hope a better movie! In my opinion it's better than The Force Awakens
Great movie. And I love your channel. Definitely best Star Wars Channel out there. No click bait rumor stuff, just pure facts and tons of knowledge. Great.
That last scene with Vader was incredible.
why was the new jedi order and the rebel base and the alliance base on Yavin 4. Didnt they know it was a sith world a long time ago? would the dark side be stronger there?
Was Vaders base on mustafar or sullust? 🤔
Pablo Hidalgo confirmed Mustafar on Twitter.
isn't sullust sunnier and more barren of rock then lava too?
Mr Wellington Of course he would make his home on mustafar, the pain gives his power
It looked like it was in Mordor, tho.
Does anyone know how they got the actor for leia at the end?bcoz its prob not carrie fisher bcoz shes to young leia in the film
Also the correct term is actress.
I hated krenic Death I wanted Vader to kill
Him not the Death Star he should have escaped scariff and Vader would have said you failed me for the last time choked him to death
The significance of his death was poetic. His arogence and demand to take full credit for the Death Star bit him in the ass as his own creation became his demise.
King Ross Vader isn't really involved him the creation of the death Star so it wouldn't really make sense
In my mind Krennic's death (Jyn and Cassian's as well) was the most powerful part of the film. It shows the cruelty of Tarkin and the entire Empire. It shows them like who they are and what they'll do not for the good of the galaxy but for achieving their own good and PAWAH.
KaloTube completely agree
NekoKingGodzilla
I must admit - I said "f**k nostalgia- Best Star Wars movie"
The saddest death was the robot. Even thought it's only a robot that died...
But I'd be willing to overlook it for more Biggs haha
there was a pilot in this movie that was the same pilot as the one that says "its away negative it didnt go in" in episode 4
Rogue One: Catalyst made the movie 10x better for me honestly. I already knew Galen, Jyn and Lyra well; so their deaths was emotional for me. The book also described Orson Krennic perfectly
Hammerhead Ramming!!! That was EPIC!!
Was the General Sandula a Hera easter egg or a Cham easter egg?
*Warning spoilers!*
the only thing I missed was seeing the death star jump out of light speed and just popping up in the middel of the battle field crushing some rebel ships in the progress
because its not in the movie, the death star appears over the horizon of the planet creating a spectacular wide shot, thats what happens in the movie anyway
Was the blaster that Jyn gave to K a Separatist blaster? I remember seeing it in battlefront as a sidearm for the B1 units, at least i think it was.
I'm glad they skipped on the romance
the bacta tank isn't on mustafar... correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's the citadel from the clone wars serie
Im thinking of sullust but Lola Sayu (the citadel location) can be correct either.
Confirmed to be Mustafar by Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter.
+Brian Boardwell I stand corrected then... That's too bad. It really looked like the citadel and would have made a nice continuity nod (It was used as a prison for dark jedi/sith and then jedi during the clone war... would have made a nice symbol for Vader to litterally live in a prison
Calimero Hœnir
Wasn't that prison on Mustafar?
definitely not as connected to these characters as i am TFA characters but i still liked it a lot.
Rey, Finn and Poe are really charismatic and relatable characters (with amazing actors behind them). Most of the characters in RO are really jaded people, affected by war, there's also the fact that we didn't get to know them very well, wich affected a lot their characterization.
hated TFA
this time the character were not all flawless super humans, which make the charakters better
Guys dat Ending Scene(s) tho :-)
The most awesome thing for me was Blue Squadron! Apart from General Merrick, that subtle reference to the color McQuarrie wanted for X-wings was so perfect!
One of my favorite moments was Bail Organa and Mon Mothma talking about his "Jedi friend" aka Obi-Wan Kenobi. I kind of freaked.
They paged General Snydulla. We don't know if it was Hera or Cham??? Correct me if I'm wrong.
On the topic of CGI facial recreation I thought Tarkin looked fantastic and Leia looked rubbery.
TheMangakid1995 Tarkin felt like Dobby to me. He didn't look lifelike at all.
+TheMangakid1995 Tarkin looked mostly alright to me, but it's the movement that I didn't like quite as much. Animated facial expressions are hard to get right, especially with realistic features. He looked like a video game character during part of it. I had no issue with Leia.
Kailee Walden same
Of all the reviews I have read and seen of this movie, yours is the first in which I agree with you on every point.
Sexiest suit of 2016
Sup.
Where can I get suit like that.
Star Wars Explained dude the source of the suit pls come on help another fans to suit better like u
I need that now.
This is my favorite Star Wars Movie.
A couple questions though...
1. What was the original purpose of the Kyber Crystal Necklace? (aside from being an heirloom)
What will you become?"
vader scene was amazing but it makes me think why he didn't do the same thing on the Tantive IV
He was all tuckered out haha
Star Wars Explained he kinda did he chocked the captain of the ship stormtroopers took care of them all before Vader could get his piece
Well he's got to pay the 501st for something, I guess.
'Cause he just wanted to test out his newly reattached limbs ;) ;)
pretty much agree with your whole analysis, especially the part about saw gerrera. I just love how they've implemented all these references. Cornelius & Ponda Baba in particular.
i was hoping Jyn and Cassian was not going to get romantic before they died. it looked like they were gonna kiss but i was gonna rage at the movie if it happened.
Lol me too in that elevator I was like DON'T YOU DARE KISS
I don't know if I remember this correctly but the scene from the trailer where Krennic tells Vader about the immeasurable power they are holding was not in the movie, was it?
people are disliking/ hating the movie just for the sake of disliking/ hating it!
The only problem I have with Darth Vader in this movie is that it makes his duel with Old Ben Kenobi that much worse
I would have loved a Porkins reference at the base😂 oh Porkins...
and Edrio Two Tubes, he had sucha cool design and really cared about his crew, why couldn't he come along from Jedah...
Ser Erso Two tubes may be the Boba Fett of Rogue One. I need more Two Tubes!
***MINOR SPOILERS***
I suspect that the only reason for the quicker than light R2 and 3PO cameo/joke was to preserve the record of them being the only characters to appear in every Star Wars film to date. It's probably impossible to keep that streak going forever, but I can see why they wouldn't want to let it go.
It's not a great gag. But it is basically the last moment of levity in the entire film, so what the hell.
the Darth Vader fight scene at the end was EPIC! Fear Vader!!
anyone notice the ghost ship on yavin 4 and when the man annoucing for general syndulla ? i wonder if we'll get the phoenix squadron side of the story
I almost cried when chirret died
R2 Should've been with Bail Organa just in the background as he leaves, I really think Jimmy Smits could have played low key enough for it to work
best star wars movie yet.
Kit Fisto you seem to be mistaken, this is a video about rogue one
the start was a bit choppy but when it all came together it was betetr than the other films
Its my favorite.
that final scene was orgasmic
I love this movie even more now. Still your favorite Star Wars movie?
This movie was true star wars. It had everything star wars content needs, great movie. There was a reason George Lucas liked this film more than TFA, everything was so meaningful.
