    The scene in Episode 2 with the veteran clone trooper begging for credits made me sad. The clones were stripped of their free will, left with no home, phased out of service, and left to die out. I’m just glad Obi-Wan was nice enough to spare some credits, despite their role in the purge.

      I personally thought it was on a shaky basis. For one, Reva was really reaching with her plan and it was even more unbelievable it worked because the Organa's could have easily hired bounty hunters or something like that since there isn't really a reason why anyone would suspect Leia's true identity or force sensitivity.

      The actual military police was of course the Coruscant Guard who did all the dirty work. And I am not talking about the Senate Guard, the boys in blue, I am talking about the clone force.
      Ultimately Jedi temple guards were only trained to a certain level. They are like the Jedi rejects who werent good enough to climb the ladder past a certain point. In fact that is one of the reasons the GI resented the Jedi.

    Reva feels a bit one tone so far but I imagine we will learn more with time.
    The sudden stabbing of the inquisitor feels a bit weird, but a sudden duel between the two might have been too much for the scene and I don't really see her Force Pushing him down the platform so I'll just assume he somehow survives. Maybe that armor isn't just for show.
    It'd be a bit weird to bring out the Grand Inquisitor just for that, could have been like... 1st brother or another inquisitor said to be high ranking.

      I kind of have an unpopular opinion about the whole Reva stabbing GI thing. To me it makes sense because GI would have definitely overpowered her in a duel, he was more focused on capturing Kenobi, so it makes sense why the quick stab from Reva would have worked.

    • @KalaamNozalys
      @KalaamNozalys 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@ihatecorpsehusband7147 Yeah that's what I think too. A duel could have worked and served a similar purpose (her rebellious attitude made them miss their chance etc) and she would likely have lost. But it would have needed to drag a bit for obi wan to escape, leading to an unsatisfactory duel.
      Or he would have overpowered her in seconds and would likely have rushed for obi wan which would also be awkward.

Everyone is saying how frightened he looked but its also that realisation that they were used and now, like the jedi, they were cast aside and thrown out with little to no recognition. Obi-wan wouldn't have realised until that point that the stormtroopers were not clones. Also note how obi-wan asks for help from Qui-gon and he offers it by having the clone ask for money. I have two most favorite moments. The first was hearing Obi-Wan say, “The time of the Jedi is over.”
    This line echoes what Luke told Rey in Ep.8. It also shows just how similar the story arcs of Luke and Obi-Wan truly are.

While I was already on board with this show at the start, involving Leia and her being the reason he leaves definitely surprised me. The actress who plays her is knocking it out of the park and so far I can buy her growing up into young Carrie Fisher.

    Reva is almost certainly one of the younglings in the opening scene and I wonder what will be the catalyst for her hatred for Kenobi. The original Star Wars was partially a commentary about war, specifically the USA involvement in the Vietnam War. The homeless Clone Vet was a nice homage to the veterans who returned home... without a welcome, in some cases without a home or family and sometimes tragically lived on the streets just living day by day. As you peel away the onion that is this show, it is actually has deep social commentary wrapped in Star Wars lore.

    • @Compucles
      @Compucles 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original Star Wars trilogy was always a closer analogy to World War II with its clear good vs. evil narrative, evil Emperor, and freakin' Stormtroopers.
      The Clone Wars are much closer to being your Vietnam War parallel, well if Lyndon Johnson was actually setting himself up to become Emperor of America behind the scenes...which then makes the Clone Trooper vet scene even more appropriate.

The way Obi-wan felt and his losing of the force and becoming who he became really makes sense. He is exactly where someone who lost would have felt. The refusal of Kenobi to help Bail Organa (as much as he feels being in hiding is important) is kind of reminiscent to The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon rather indifferently says to Shmi Skywalker, "I didn't come here to free slaves" (but is nonetheless interested in Anakin due to his seeming potential as a Jedi).

  • @TigerofRobare

    Was the Clone Veteran played by Temura Morison? It certainly sounded like him. I liked our look at the Organas at home -- Leia mentions seeing a ship of an Aquilan Ranger, whixch is a reference to the early drafts, where they were auxiliary to the Jedi. The scene between Leia and Bail on the balcony reminded me of the scene in the new Dune film where Leto tells Paul he wanted to be a pilot and not a Duke.

  • @PsychoStreak
    @PsychoStreak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I loved how they start out with the flashback summary of the clone wars. Nearly everything you need to know about what brough Obi-Wan to where and who he is gets presented clearly, and nicely builds the case for the trauma and depression he's dealing with. Only thing I wish had happened was a clip from Clone Wars where Satine dies in his arms. Not tht he needs more tragedy, but the tie in would have been nice.
    The scenes with Little Leia was a joy to watch.
    The scene with the clone trooper was excellent. Ewan really pulled off the fear, sorrow and compassion as he realized the trooper either didn't recognize him or didn't care, that his armor suggests he was one of Anakin's troops, and that he was one more person Obi-Wan had failed.
    I admit when the Grand Inquisitor got stabbed my first thought was "Okay, Alex. Explain this!" but I suspect he'll survive, but have to get some cybernetics installed.

While escaping she could’ve possibly seen him and a clone referring to him as “Lord Vader”, as he was given the name at this point, potentially explaining how she knows that they are one and the same person. That knowledge might also explain her drive to find Kenobi as to gain favor with Vader. Grand Inquisitor stabbing was pretty bizarre, but I’m sure he lives considering rebels 🤷‍♂️

    I know people were anxious about the grand inquisitor’s portrayal in this show, but I found Rupert Friend’s acting to be very compelling and I really dig his version of the inquisitor. Maybe even a little more than the animated version..

      His head looked like a fish bowl and his voice and accent was just silly. Not even close to the GI in Rebels.

    Highly doubt the grand inquisitor is dead. I think it just seals Reva’s fate and the consequences she’s gonna face for her actions later on.
    I think Reva is fascinating, even someone as full of anger & hate as Trilla wasn’t even that bold.

    I loved the dichotomy with home Force sensitive and blunt (to borrow a 40K term) imperials treat the power playing: imperials are human pretending to be Sith in their power plays but are ultimately still within the military structure and aren’t shooting each other when things go sideways: the inquisitors are dark Jedi pretending to be imperials and seem to fall back onto out and out “backstabbing” (or front stabbing as the case may be) far more easily, as befitting their characters.

    I imagine Reva stabbing the Grand Inquisitor is going to be the first step in her down fall. He won't stand for it and will likely seek some sort of revenge once he's recovered. I can imagine him striking her down unknowingly at a moment where she would be close to getting Kenobi or after Kenobi defeats her, leaves and she is left to face the Grand Inquisitor's wrath.
    Really enjoyed these first two episodes and can't wait to see where this goes next :)

      I bet reva will turn back to light side of force and save kenobi s life and get killed by darth vader saving him. Or somethiing like that. Star wars has habit of making the main villain turn good.

    • @goblinsrevenge
      @goblinsrevenge 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Johnnyrocks34 I must admit the thought did cross my mind as well. But given how much Reva has been built up to be cruel even by inquisitor standards, I hope they don't try to redeem her. Instead maybe have Vader strike her down for trying to kill Kenobi which would have deprived him the revenge he desires. The Grand Inquisitor sort of hinted that Kenobi is not theirs to hunt in the first episode, but she is so desperate to gain favour she may fly too close to the sun and pay the price for it.

    This 2-part intro to the series was perfect! We got everything, awesome shots of Order 66 that looked better than the sequel trilogy, a different side of Kenobi, world building, a (brand new?) planet that looks amazing, seeing the revelation of Anaking being alive for Kenobi, and even a shock Grand Inquisitor "death"! Im so glad with everything, especially a very good reason for Ben to leave Tatooine and not hanging about too long on the same planet

    I just want to know how the Third Sister/Reva knows Vader's identity. Typically, Vader executes anybody he finds out knows he's Anakin unless they are an extremely useful asset and he can trust them not to do anything with the information, such as with Tarkin and Thrawn. Maybe she saw heard clones referring to Anakin as "Lord Vader" during Order 66 at the temple?

    • @bfrobin446
      @bfrobin446 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess: Vader has taken her into his confidence to use her as an asset against the other Inquisitors, because Vader sees the Inquisitorius as rivals for Palpatine’s favor.

    There's another possible origin story for Reva... she's a product of Project Harvester and not a former youngling/Jedi. In pre-release info Moses Ingram said that Reva thinks/feels that she should be the Grand Inquisitor (GI). Reva's hatred for the GI could come from her belief that she is true Dark Side having been raised in it, unlike the other Inquisitors who started as Jedi and had to be turned to the Dark Side.
    We also learn that the other Inquisitors look down upon her as "the least of" them. Therefore she must be different from the other Inquisitors. Her abilities got her out "of the gutter." The kids from Project Harvester didn't come from the Jedi Order.

    It's interesting how Obi-Wan's internal conflict is the direct opposite of what it is in most other content in this era (John Jackson Miller's novel, and The Journals of Ben Kenobi)
