- Hi pen friends and Happy Lunar New Year 2024! In this video, I share some of my goals for 2024 for my TH-cam channel and my journey in my fountain pen hobby! The second half of the video I go over my previous fountain pen wish list and then discuss the new pens I've added for 2024 and the vision boards/spreads I created to manifest the pens in the list! I hope you all enjoy looking at these pens in my wish list with me! Let's manifest a wonderful 2024 year and achieve all the goals we make for ourselves!

Lovely as always! I need to write my pen goals for this year, its so wonderful to have them to look back on a year later. I look forward to seeing your reflection on this in 12 months time! My goals are similar, especially the avoiding fomo and planning for big pen purchases.
Purple inks my fav are watermans tender purple (v saturated very purple but does sheen green) Bungubox Ink Tells More L'Amant (saturated more pinky purple which amazing shading but no sheen) Wearingeul Jane Eyre (Very pale unsaturated lilac) and Troublemaker foxglove (choromoshading purple, I love it!)
I am going to be going to the London pen shows in March and october, hopefully the Dutch pen show in June, and maybe the yorkshire pen show in dec? I am also going to be going to Japan in October, and I'm sure I will be visiting lots of the pen shops!
Omg I'm so jealous of you, going to Japan this year! I have to save a lot for that trip! I will need to try and get Bungubox's inks, they're so expensive though, maybe I'll get more at the SF Pen show xD I think Foxglove is pretty similar to Nekoyanagi, which I have, but maybe it is more saturated? And yes, I wonder how things will be a year from now! XD Here's to hoping a lot of wonderful progress gets made towards these goals!
What a great video….. my main goal this year is to buy fewer pens than last year and to use the ones I have in a more considered way…..I’m writing many of them dry so that I can ink them up more thoughtfully, possibly buy more inks.
My wishlist, at my price point will stretch this year to Sailor PGS models, I have my eye on several as you know, but I can’t decide as there are so many beautiful ones……. I’m in the market if you need to off load any PGS to afford your wish list 🤣🤣🤣

You have such good goals!! I have yet to think of what I would like to do this year for my channel😅 I'm the same way with purple inks, def lavenders and chroma-shaders. I have a hard time with super saturated inks in general - they feel too professional for me and frankly boring!
I adore the way you create your pen wish list, it's so detailed and such a visual feast! I can imagine all of those pens in your hands, ugh I see the Platinum x Hachimonjiya in mine too and the Pelikan M800 Brown Black! 😍 Honestly they are all so beautiful! I'm glad I don't have a stationery shop or pen show near me! I know if I could be able to hold any of these pen models in person, I would totally become a collector😅 I also love how you have your value for the pens, it's such a clever way to be mindful that a lot of time pens sell for much less than the MSRP or seller mark ups. This was such a fun video, you had me glued to the end! Thank you for making this!

Love, love, love this video! 😍 I think you've set yourself some fantastic goals, and you can definitely count me in for support of a sticker shop. I've been working on my own goals/wishlist video for a few weeks, and I just keep scrapping what I've got and starting over. It'll be mid-year by the time I'm happy with it. 😅🤣 And I love the First Snow, but I've already given up on tracking one down - I'm an eternal pessimist when it comes to getting a hold of the limited editions I want (like the Light Latte VP or the new cafe creme colored Platinum that was just announed). 😢 Alas. Anyway, fantastic video as always!

@@KenchanKrafts I’ve got it in an Esterbrook Estie with a scribe nib and I’m using it in my Hobonichi Cousin this month and I love it. It is my favorite pen and ink combo right now. I love the scribe nib as it shows off the shading in the ink without being too broad. With this nib, it doesn’t seem like a dry ink but I had it in a Kaweco Sport with a fine nib and did trade that out for a wetter ink.

Hello Lao! Your pen wishlists get better and better! I want the pens after I see your layouts but I am going to be very very decisive now with pens as I start year two of my own journey. As long as earthquakes stay away Italy will still be on our horizon this year! Keep making wonderful videos! I’m still crushed the Scribo Feel I wanted is forever gone…it was a purple and lavender one…yes they are all limited because Luca make very small batches of each pen…😂You have amazing choices…take care my friend! If I did this for each pen I wanted I would have a Bible…😂

Wow, your pen wish list! A Scribo Feel is on my list too, hopefully the one with rose gold trim finds its way to me this or next year :). I fell in love with the Pelikan Brown Black too, obviously thanks to the fountain pen community here on YT :). There is another brown M800: Pelikan Renaissance Brown. Harder to get but also gorgeous. It could be a next entry in your pen journal ;). Either way, I wish you a brown m800 in 2024!
Ooo, yeah, that Renaissance Brown is a beauty. Almost like looking into raw amber. I am not sure if I'll want a Pelikan as expensive as that though...let me just find it for 400 though and I'll swallow my words lol! So does that mean you've acquired the M800 brown black? :D If I get it this year, it'll be my first striped Pelikan and I've seen that the stripes have very subtle shimmers throughout, which I absolutely love. If that truly is the case, I cannot wait to have one :)
@@KenchanKrafts Haha I know what you meaning about the price, it was the reason why the Black Brown M800 was not even on my wish list, I somehow could you even dream about so expensive f-pens. But there is something about the brown writing instruments and brown inks that I could not stop thinking about it. I browsed the internet, had a habit of checking all brown pens just to find myself a subsitute or pre-loved Brown Black M800. To my suprise I found a pre-owned Renaissance Brown on my local platform, the price was reasonable ...so I snatched it :). I love both the brown stipes and the amber-like body of the brown M800s. I do not feel like owning both though. Time for Aurora Volterra to match my Renaissance :P. It is my 1st gold nib so you can imagine my excitement :). I know everybody keeps saying the same but it is really the case that the nib is very juicy. My F writes like M what I personally enjoy. And I've changed my attitude, I dream BIG :)
I loved your pen wish list!! I got my 1st Scribo Feel Spiaggia Rosa (LTD) back in early December. It was selling out quickly and I really wanted it. It is beautiful and worth every penny. (By the way- I love the Leonardo purple I bought from you- I kept it with the CY grind. It grew on me :-) You were so patient with my nervousness for my first purchase of a used fountain pen. Thank you!!)

There is a pen show in Chester (UK) in April 🖊 I'd like another pen to compliment my Lamy 2000....prob a Pilot (will be in touch about the nib size obviously..!!! 😂) or a dream Montblanc ❤ But then the search for the perfect deep black ink that's easy to clean, and I mean 'black' and not dark grey 😊

Oooo, that’ll be so so exciting for you! I’m going to the Chicago pen show in May this year and very likely the San Francisco too because the Japanese brands are all coming to that one. I’m sure you’ll be able to get a feel for all the pilot nibs once you go to the show ^_^ and find exactly what you like there for a pilot nib! But I’m always here as well for questions!! 🥰 Thank you for your wishes! If you already know about platinum chou kuro ink…I’m sure that one is supposed to clean well and its the blackest ink ever apparently.
Really hoping you can manifest some of these lovely pens into your collection this year! I think my goal so far for this year is to be able to go to the Yoseka Stationery show haha.
Also, I have the same candle and Japanese Cherry Blossom has been so popular since I was in like middle school. 🤣

And yeah, I didn't really care too much about the Japanese Cherry Blossom scent, but so many girlies love it! And...it's actually quite subtle and beautiful. I can see why Bath and Body Works never got rid of it. It sells, it smells, it's a swell scent! LOL! :D
@@KenchanKrafts Thank you! Yeah I think it will be a really fun and unforgettable time if I manage to go! I think it's a good scent but not as amazing as the hype makes it out to be lol. Most of the ones I enjoy more from them are the ones with something like bergamot or citrus so it balances out the sweet. But yeah the Cherry Blossom one is just a classic! Nice rhymes btw haha 🤣

Some of my goals are to get some true red inks (that stay red on the paper instead of showing a more brown undertone), brighter greens, and some browns. I also would love some more Leonardos, though like you, I prefer to only get pens with aesthetics that speak to me. More Halloween-themed pens when spooky season comes around would be great too.
The video I made on New Year's Eve about my Top 10 plans for fountain pen videos in 2024 went over like a lead balloon, with only seven views and no comments, but hopefully that was just because most people were busy celebrating the holiday and never had a chance to notice it. Some of my video ideas include lessons learnt during my fountain pen journey, my most meaningful pens, and pen accessories.
Aww, I'm sorry to hear about that, Ursula. I watch your videos from time to time! And I know, it is hard for you to make videos to the standard you'd want due to limitations, I hope this year you'll be able to make the changes you need for your own setups! I love that you enjoy Halloween fountain pens - xD That is quite rare and niche of a theme for fountain pen collectors! You're one of few I know :D As for a true true red ink - the Colorverse Golden Gate Bridge is an absolutely beautiful bright red. There is Diamine strawberry red, too, if you want to try that - it is cheap and well known. Why do you want a true red, though? I find a lot of people are turned off by the bright red and prefer more toned down reds.
@@KenchanKrafts I like being able to write with a variety of colors, though I agree a red that's too bright can be hard on the eyes.
Hi Lao! Happy Lunar New Year! I remember watching you create your pen wish list. Finally got to try a Platinum 3776 last December in Ultra Extra Fine…and just ordered one on Saturday but in Chartres Blue…not sure what it is with me and blue pens. But I just got a red one for Christmas…lol! Thank you for making this video! I love how much detail you put into your wishlist! It shows your true intentions. When I go to Italy this year I will look for that Leonardo pen for you…#8 and Ebonite feed boosts price…😢I want a Rose Gold Trim pen😊, Glauco Cambon and a tortoiseshell Pelikan in Fine bins, and a Vanishing Point in Extra Fine. For inks I want to explore Sailor, Taccia and Birmingham but you know me I keep buying inks. Very cool and interesting pen choices…thank you for the video.
Looks like a few of the pens I have are in your wish list! I can attest that they are amazing!! Platinum centuries are just classic pens that write well and they are constantly coming out with beautiful ones but they are very limited compared to the pretty ones that sailor always comes out with. You are not going wrong with any of your Platinums. I may sell my Laurel green soon because the body color is too dark for my liking. And OMG if you do find that Cirelo Blue when you go to Italy, I will Venmo you the money lol!! So excited for trip to Italy!

Hey Moon! Thank you! I’m happy you like it, it’s very fun to scrapbook and decorate for you pens or future pens and use your current pens to write. I really hope I can get Hatsuyuki in medium someday for a good price. For now I will have the shape of heart to satisfy my platinum gold nib experience! And I thought it was just the weeks that stayed with the old TR paper, haha, thanks for confirming that for me!
I am loving what you have done with this book. The spreads are gorgeous. Does the PET shine not drive you nuts? It does me. I have a small wish list this year, but I will tell you it contains only real Gold and Gold color trim. I am a gold girl. I also want to go to a show this year. St. Louis is the closest to me. I just got my first VP in Matte Black. I am loving it for now.
OMG Yes!! The glare on the PET tapes are so annoyingggg!! That's why I mentioned in my PET/Washi video that Washi tapes are better for certain spreads - but in general, it is just best when you don't want any light reflecting on the stickers xD And YAY GOLD CREW!!! :) I will only accept silver trims for something that is necessary in my collection - and usually that's a pretty pen. I hope you're able to go to St. Louis show!! It would be lots of fun - and the VPs are great pens! I like my Moonman/Majohn dupe xD the body feels nice.
So pretty! I love all those spreads on your wishlist. My goal for this year is to try as much ink as I can lol. For pen goals, I am hoping I could buy a Platinum 3776 before the increase midyear. If budget permits, hoping I could buy an Estie too.
xD Yeah, in terms of trying inks - I want to reduce buying full bottles and just get tons of samples of ones I would like and sample as much as I can at all the pen shows I'd go to this year. That will save me money on buying unnecessary bottles haha XD Which Estie are you hoping to get? Are you also going for that white frosted one that was leaked for end of this year? The only Platinum's I want are the Japanese exclusives now...the ones in America and the regular ones are too plain for me now xD
@@KenchanKrafts I either would buy the Sea Glass or the Botanical Gardens then I'd probably also buy some specialty nibs cause I know you can easily replace an Estie nib. I would love those Japanese exclusive pens but my budget doesn't permit it atm. Maybe when I am able to travel to Japan again.
My biggest fountain pen goal this year is to hopefully find a pen show relatively in my area that doesn't interfere with my schedule as a Renaissance Festival worker so I can talk in person with a nibmeister about my Vanishing Point. Too many drops left the nib with a lot of feedback, almost ranging into scratchiness and I used to love it for the buttery smoothness. Just looking to get back to that.
As far as a purple that won't do funny things with sheening that I really, really want more than a sample is Violette Pensée by J. Herbin.
Thank you for your purple ink suggestion, Jason! I’ll definitely look into that, I like to pair dry purples into my wet Leonardo pens, so that one should go great in one of them. And I’m sorry to hear your vp became worse over time. Do you have any ideas how the nib became scratchy over time? Yeah all my VPs write ultra smoothly, but I’ve only had F M and Stubs. I heard the EF can be slightly scratchy. I hope you’ll be able to go to a pen show this year! Also I love Renaissance Festivals! You’re doing fun work! :)
@@KenchanKrafts mostly getting knocked off tables five or six times and landing on the nib in more than a few of them.

@@Meli0796 Hogtowns used the resin :D but they used silver trims, so I'm sure you can ask to use any trim you'd love. But the resin itself is indeed so gorgeous. I had my chance at getting this Leo from AWritingGuy's IG store, but the pen plus shipping (90 USD) from his country was gonna cost me $1000! I can't do that to myself xD That price itself will deter both of us from competing against others xD

I do a really janky version of what you're doing with your wish just. Ha ha. I have a Phomemo M02 printer and I print up blank and white photos of some of my pens to put in my currently inked journal

I’m from Michigan, my son just moved to Virginia. I’ve only been to the Detroit pen show, which is teeny tiny. Soooooo, in august, on my way to visit my son in Virginia, I’m going to the DC pen show! 🎉. I’d like to ask your opinion on an ink for my navular voyage miami pen. I’m not happy with things I’ve picked, although everything works in it. Your pairings are always spot on.
Hi Lynn, Oooh, that will be so awesome to get to the DC Pen show! I have that show on my list for next year. The Miami pen is the one with the primary manipulation 4 resin, right? With all the colors of the rainbow! My Rangoli is also the same resin - the PM4 is super random. For such a resin, I pick colors based on the major color(s) that is coming through in my specific pen. Because my Rangoli is primarily yellow/orange and purple/pink - I choose inks in that color family. And then I choose a light or saturated ink based on the nib size (lighter/drier inks tend to be better in broader/wetter nibs, and wet/saturated inks in thinner nibs). I would suggest narrowing colors down to 2 you want to see from that pen and then choose inks from there!
These are some options I'd try:
Golden Beryl or Iroshizuku Yu-yake if you want to go for yellow/orange.
Kobe Hydrangea or Murasaki Shikibu for purple/pinks.
Iroshizuku Ama-Iro or Waterman Inspired Blue for blues.
Looks like you can get away with some sage colors too since I can see that in the resin. Maybe Yoseka's Tang mi se blue or J Herbin Vert Atlantide.
Hope those help! This is a tough pen to find the perfect ink for sure!
