      Isn't it usually the back two cylinders that get super hot because the coolant can't cool them down effectively, so the block gets hot and expands and contracts different from the metal on the heads and that's usually where the head gaskets fail @@CJSFBRD

      I doubt it big time. Mine is practically stock, caltracs, and a kn intake being the only mods that actually do anything, and itll break loose if i floor it stopped with performance tires (admittedly rather cheap ones but they grip pretty well just wear out fast) Another point however is that it is the 7ft bed so there is less weight on the rear tires (this is entirely a guess based on the fact i think the wheel base is longer)

      It shouldn't affect fuel mileage other than I can't keep my foot out of the throttle now! I pull cars on a trailer with no problems, and it's actually quite enjoyable. • @GadgetMan-rr3ik

    Why? It has rubber motor mounts and the 4.3 does not make that much more horsepower than the 2.2, get a book on these trucks and turn to the engine and specs pages and your jaw will drop when you see how weak the 2.2 is and you will see the 4.3 power is close to the 2.2 engine. Honestly this is why so many of these trucks don't last the 250,000 miles Google says they last.

    • @CJSFBRD
      @CJSFBRD  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      4.3 may not make much more hp but destroy the 2.2 on torque numbers. I just like to build things that are different, and I don't believe anyone has done a turbo 4.3L and kept the factory spider injection for a budget build. Just wanted to show it can be done for cheap with minimum mods and without doing the marine 4.3L intake swap. I also would never touch a 2.2L, not going for miles per gallon. It's all about smiles per gallon!

I miss the days tbi obs trucks that are efi but have the same style intake flange as a classic style intake which means those motors are easier to modify and give it maintenance is easy aslo.

Anyway my dream truck is a obs with mild shift kit in the transmission and maybe like smog legal exhaust performance headers, it's a 5.7 motor, they are good trucks all done up on 20 inch rims and rubber band sidewall type tires, like real low you know? they don't rub when I turn or go through dips.

    rip the spider injectors aprt.
    GET boost ref' FMU,
    bigger pump,
    lgt35, or 60-1 turbo? .68 hotside? .70 coldside turbo? some piping..
    a scavenge pump?
    lastly HP tuners for the timming? And be safe to run 7-8psi?
    lol shyyytt i got most that layin in my shop.. except for hp.. lol

      Decap the injectors, 450lph-ish fuel pump in the gas tank. NO boost reference FMU, I tried the FMU setup and it messed with the tuning on HPTuners. Much easier to tune without FMU. EBAY turbo from over 10 years ago not sure what size but its smaller T3 flange

    • @CJSFBRD
      @CJSFBRD  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could outsource HPTuners locally most likely, either way it's the most inexpensive route but possibly the most expensive part. Once turbo is hot I have been daily driving at 7-9 psi. 91 octane and no intercooler

      Under $1000 but I did have some of the parts laying around, like the turbo and I reused old exhaust pipes and modified them to work again. The can vary depending on what parts a person has laying around and also how they get it tuned. I so far have tuned this pickup myself with what I learned in youtube

      @jakecarlile2294 mine is a 2003 vortec, and they are rated 190 hp and 265 tq. Also being a ZR2, it comes with 3.73 gearing which is pretty decent, but 190 hp in my 4500lb truck is no racecar. Like I always say "4.3L The power of a 4 cylinder and the gas mileage of a V8"

      @cjcusey9163 hell, I'd put that uo against my 88 Dakota once the motor is built the way I want it. After all the die grinder work and post parts hunting, I should be making around 200hp and around 250tq. Give or take on the numbers. I'd have to dyno it before or after it's in the truck

    • @CJSFBRD
      @CJSFBRD  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @toast9758 I definitely should put an intercooler on or swap to E85 but I don't think I have enough injector left to support it. 300whp would make me happy as a daily driver. I'm guessing it's around 250 whp currently
