The 4.3L is the best sounding V6 GM ever made. They really sound good with a cam.
Fun fact: The GM 4.3 V6 is a 350 V8 with 2 cylinders chopped off.
You should hear a 3800 with an equalizer pipe, makes it sound like a completely different engine
@@handsome4922 I know about the 3800. Worked on them all the time. It is apple and oranges when it comes to sound. With the right set up they both sound good. The 4.3L has more of V8 sound out of the two.

I have a 2014 Silverado with the redesigned 4.3 and it does not disappoint. Everything you loved about the old one, plus variable valve timing and about 100ft lbs of torque where you need it. I hope someone swaps it into an s10.

Strange they have different catalytic converters even though they’re both 2000 models. Cat-less with Flowmaster 40s is the best setup on them IMO

@@elcompayahir8122 when i deleted my cat, it was night and day difference. Much louder, but kinda raspy.
Moons ago I ran a 95 with the non CPI motor in it (cant remember what code engine it was).but had Vortec running down the center of the intake. Had 2.5 straights from a Y pipe into those 3.5 chrome slash cut tips coming out under the curves of back bumper. It trucked really nice and man for years everybody thought I had a V8 in it. Only High RPMS you could tell but got soo many compliments on it.

I ran OBX headers into custom 2” collectors and true duels turned down before the rears . She’s cammed to sounds beast .

Had a blazer 4x4 with a 4.3 in it. Old painless is what I called it. Took it up grey mountain, heckle hill when I was living in Whitehorse. There was some steep inclines I took it up

I have a 5.0 v8 1996 chevy, would it sound the same with just the flowmaster? And for the side exhaust does it have to be straight piped?

I've had both of these setups on my s10s and both sounds great however tail pipes with either the super 10 or straight pipe would be the way to go the side exit drone gets old after a while.
Did u do a resonator delete or cat delete?
Have to agree have a downward dump on my blazer xtreme and some days it drives me crazy lol
@@elcompayahir8122 s10s don't really have a resonator, but I've had both a stock cat muffler delete with with a 90 out the side and on the other truck i had a first a super 10 with a hollowed out cat and the a muffler delete with a dump.
@@Jihadbearzwithgunz ya its the drone that got to me on the one truck but when i was in high school my Sonoma had a hollowed cat with a dump right after the cab and boy was that thing obnoxious so many pops and bangs, but sure impressed my buddies
@@ThatSmallBlockSonoma yeah mine dumps right after the muffler under the cab it's pretty rough been wanting to put a tail pipe on it but limited on space with my 20x10 wheels and 295/55 r20 rubber
What kind of converter is on the straight pipe?
I’ve got a high flow cat into a magnaflow 40 and dual tips ran out the back on my 4.3 xtreme. Sounds lovely but I’m looking for more pops and bangs. May delete the cat, may delete cat and muffler altogether but I’m not sure. Any advice?
Ive gota muffler delete with a behind the cab dump. It's really loud anywhere past 20% throttle and burbles on deceleration. The stock cat does a good job at killing the sound that almost any muffler kills the meaty sound

Is there any difference between the extreme engines and the regular 4.3’s?
No not at all extreme is just an appearance package, however all extremes came with the zq8 package which is the stiffer lowered sport suspension
There's 2 diff type of fuel injections tho on the 4.3L. the owners manual says what letter in the vin signifies which injection it has. Might be for just pre 2000s like 98 and 99

Buy an old GM compact car at an auction like a Cavalier or Pontiac Sunfire with a blown engine, buy a 4.3, put the 2.2 from the S10 into the Cavalier, put the 4.3 in the S10, sell the Cavalier for a profit.
Anything that's has a Stock Catylitic converter isnt getting the performance and sound it should because it's not Flowing good it's a Exhaust Filter stock is like Fram and magna flow High Flow catalytic is Like K&N Filter

Stop messing around and put a 5.3 in that.
More power, better mpg, and bolt in kits. There really isn't a downside

@@yourstrulytheswagmonster3606 a boosted 4.3 would still do the same as a boosted 5.3 they both can hold up to 600 horses, You just have to tune the 4.3 right

My 2011 dodge ram truck 1500 sounds way better and way more louder....with that s10 truck..you can get it sound like a 5.0 mustang...trust me..I had a 98 s10 truck...and got a shorter base up under an it ..it was cool as hell..when you crank it up and let it idle...it was bad ass
One with the square tips sounds better, but looks like a Japanese guy got a hold of it. get rid of the spoiler, body kit and ugly wheels and put the original parts back on
