      Depends on if it is just a scope or a repair, so you will need to be cleared by your surgeon first.

    Why does my knee seem to beg to be popped now? Im about 2 months post injury and it’s still healing. As I sit, it gets a little stiffer and the inside burns a bit, then there’s a huge compulsion to twist just a little to get it to pop. Instantly it’s more pain but then total relief too. But that relief doesn’t last long. Then it’s also sometimes over and over and over throughout the day that it “wants” to be popped. The pop started with my knee just about a week ago. Is it gas or fluid getting in somewhere that just doesn’t feel right so it “wants” to be popped? Am I hindering healing by popping it?
    I’m so glad you are on TH-cam! I’ve sent a small donation, subscribed, and I’m on my way to look at what else you have.

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Sometimes with a meniscal tear, you can have what is called a bucket handle tear. Often it will catch and have that feeling that it needs to pop to move again. If the pop is painful, it's not the best to do, but movement is important as well (so it's a tough balance). Sometimes just turning your knee slightly inward or outward will help avoid the pop.

    Thank you so much for your time....my pain started suddenly with a lot of locking & popping of the knee one day. And as I continued my usual routine of execrcise and dance rehearsals it got worse to pain and swelling. Since then I have changed my routing to mostly release & strengthening of the knees and avoided jumps and deep flexing of the knees and direct pressure on it. I practice RICE too. I feel better but pain persists on the inner side of the tibial bone in the front of the knee below the pattella on a point. I am on a performance tour in Australia and having to perform as choreography requires with jumps and deep plie etc though some stuff I have managed to shift to the other side or chenged completely. I appeciate your valuable time....warm regards

      @AskDoctorJo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stretching and light exercises help with the healing process without increasing the irritation. Often the meniscus will not repair on it's own, but once the initial irritation goes away with proper treatment, you can then progress your strengthening program.

    Thanks Dr.Jo , nice video 😊👍I am suffering from a small tear in the Posterior horn of the medial meniscus for the past 2 months. Doc advised me to use a walker for 3months, but I am not doing that as I am not feeling comfortable with that, but I have reduced walking and avoiding any load on my knee... All this while didn’t try anything due to the fear of worsening the tear. However I want to get back to my Dance Aerobics soon 😬 I will try these exercises to get recovered fast😉

    Hi I am from TURKEY. I am 23 years old. 2nd meniscus degree tear in 2.5 years. I went to 4 different hospitals. I had physical therapy in 2 different hospitals. but my meniscus still hurts.Doctors said that you are young and it will heal with exercise, but it does not. I haven't run for 2.5 years. I don't strain my knees. I exercise but it is not improving. I am now looking at the physical therapy exercise plans of different countries. Do you think I should remove part of the meniscus with surgery? THANK YOU.

Im I gonna feel better again? Or should I accept that this will be my new normal. Thanks🙏

    hello Dr. Jo, thank you for great videos , they are very informational, I'm a 42 years old and my knees cracks, grinds, pops and have mild pain often. I had this problem for a long time and I have leaned to live with it but it seems to be getting worse; I have flat feet and I have tried foot orthotics but it doesn't help, what exercises do you recommend to fix this problem or strengthen the knees?

    I can't wait to see if I have a meniscus tear. Sad to say I had left knee arthritis since 6 years ago. I put too much weight on my left hand side since the age of 13 because I dislocated my right hip. Just two days ago I did Zumba and I twisted my knee. I would hate to be told that my pain is all arthritis. So bad I can hardly walk Saturday afternoon.

    Diagnosed with a torn meniscus or what was left of my meniscus from getting scoped 25 plus years ago. I have some fluid on my knee and can't fully straighten to full extension or bend it real well. Injured it about 3 months back. MRI shows torn ACL also but prior to this injury my knee was bullet proof, weight training, cross training, swords and kicks NO problem. Since this happened and I can't lock my knee out my right thigh is withering and freaking me out. The Dr says to do some stretches to get my knee to lock out again and bend. Not sure what to believe or do at this point,

    As confirmed by the MRI:
    * A suspected small grade III B tear posterior horn medial meniscus
    * Grade I sprain medial collateral ligament
    Such injury is about 14 days ago
    Yet i still feel some pain and as u said a sort of instability in my knee

    Will such stretches and exercises help
