    I've been carrying concealed concealed consistently for the past six years, and finally arrived to Glocks (specifically the Gen 5 19) for their consistency, durability, reliability, and ease of maintenance and the abundance of parts to maintain the firearm...all from a guy who used to hate on Glocks. Funny how things change. Good stuff man!

      @@TacticalConsiderations Carried Kimber CDP II Pro for years, then M&P 40, then G22, now G17MOS. Also have an Archon Type B which I love the most, flat shooting and fast on target. I'm pretty well versed with firearms and I wanted to tell you what an excellent video this is, not just for newbies but for us old farts as well. These are the three glocks I currently own. G45 in the bag and for competition, G17 bedside for the wife, G19 for CCW. Whatever minimal changes they made in the gen 5 frame made all the difference for my smallish hands. They just lock in now and the gen 5 trigger handles great for me.

    • @TacticalConsiderations
      @TacticalConsiderations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Likely removal of the finger groves more natural for your hands now.

    • @VZBudgetBuildz
      @VZBudgetBuildz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have tiny hands but my hands are smaller, just small enough to fit onto a Glock 19, but I will say I couldn’t shoot a Gen 4 19 for shit, nor cared how it felt shooting it. When I held the Gen 5 19, I was mind blown, purchased one and then shot a G17 with a STOOOOPID Good group for me. 1.25” at 7yards. And now I’m considering getting a G17/G45 for plinking, but I don’t know if it was the full size frame or the full slide that gave me my added accuracy.

  • @KSTrekker

    Picked up a G17 Gen5 MOS based on your recommendation. I’ve always loved my Gen4’s and didn’t really have a strong opinion on the finger grooves until I attended the Pistol 250 course at Gunsite last week. By the end of the week, my hand was really feeling it; those pressure points you get on your fingers from the grooves - not good! If you don’t shoot a lot of rounds, probably not that big of a deal. I rented a Gen5 at a local range and was surprised how well it shot bone stock. My follow up shots were extremely fast and accurate.

    • @TacticalConsiderations
      @TacticalConsiderations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Awesome man. I am stoked you went to Gunsite I love seeing people take their training seriously. I went through an instructor course last year that was 2 weeks long and we shot thousands and thousands of rounds both rifle and pistol small changes can make a difference. I left the last few long days with some sore hands from running pistols and rifles all day.

      @saltaddict685 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same thing in my experience with the G17 Gen 5. I've never been so accurate and comfortable with a firearm as quickly as I was with the 17. I've shot close to 10k through my FN 509 and still shoot better with the G17 for some reason, I believe it's the hump that makes the difference for me.

    Just got the G45 and so far am in love with it. I hadn't carried since I retired from the Air Force 20 years ago and at that time I had Colt 1911 that was highly modified. When I got the G45 I was able to get it through the Glock Blue Label program so ended up getting it with the Amerigolw sights. Only thing I have done to it was to put on Talon Pro grips which I love the feel of. Have arthritis in the hands so they give me a little more control. I really like the way the gun handles and shoots and I feel quite confident with it. Now just trying to find a good IWB holster that I can carry cross draw due to a bad strong hand shoulder which limits my movement trying to draw from the strong side. After about 200 hundred rounds through it so far I couldn't be more happy.

    Thanks for your videos, they helped me decide which one: the G17! I considered P10 also, but the aftermarket is so strong for the Glock and the CZ grip texture is too "sharp".
    I'm a big guy too and have large hands, so I went with the 17. The 19 feels okay, but the shorter frame felt like my grip comfort was right on the extreme border of ”acceptable" size … the 17 feels perfect!
    The G45 feels damn good in the hand too, but I figure since I'm going to get the full size grip, I might as well get the full size slide and barrel too. I've always liked the proportionality of the 17.
    The P10F feels great in the hand too (sans overly sharp texture)… but that 19 round grip seemed to be too much to conceal well, even for a bigger guy?
    Thanks again for your insightful videos.

    G45 is great for a home defense and great for open carry. Concealed carry would be tricky due to the longer grip but with the right body type and belt/holster rig it’s 100% do-able. The 17 is a great home defense/range gun, and the 19 is great for concealed carry/home defense. I’d say try to find a range that will let you shoot each one and decide which you like best

    I have all 3 and I thought the 45 was going to be the perfect fit, especially since I carry a 17 on duty/off duty. I ended up liking my 19 only because it is the Nomad frame. Started out carrying a Glock 19 Gen 2 back in 1998. Then moved to a 3.5” kimber 1911. Then a Springfield XD, then Springfield XDS, then full-size Wilson Combat 1911 in 45 then another Wilson Combat in 9mm. But after all that I came back to the Glock 19 gen 4 for the past 6 years. I have now landed on a Glock 45 MOS with an RMR. I also use all Glock 17’s with surefire x300 hidden around the house for home defense. I still LOVE my Wilson 1911’s and my 2011’s but, in my opinion, you just can’t beat a Glock for concealed carry for all the reasons you mentioned here.

    I carry G19 with TLR 1 and RMR. Used Gen 3 19’s can be found for around 300 bucks. Swampfox and Holosun ( I also run a Holosun 508T... zero issues) make MRDS with RMR footprints if one feels inclined to get a red dot. Most used flicks have aftermarket night sights on them but Meprolight makes some for a realistic price. Suppressor height versions are able to be found for under 100 bucks. If you want to run a light and don’t want to spend surefire prices, used TLR-1’s can be found for 60+ dollars or Olight makes a few types of lights that are pretty good for the price. Holsters are in an abundance for whatever material you prefer and for whichever way you can carry as far as open carry or (legally) concealed. Aftermarket parts and accessories for the Gen 3 Glock(s)... because hey... who only buys one? Lol... Gen 3 Glocks are reliable out of the box. Not sure if I’ve missed anything. Congrats on buying your first pistol if it’s your first. If not and it’s your first Glock... well... welcome to the “FanClub”. 🤣

    Glocks were never my favorite, but I'm issued a G22 and they actually point and shoot well for me. Now we're going to Gen 5's which made me happy (I'm a lefty). I was about to get either a HK VP9SK or Walther PDP, but my EDC changes every couple of years and I am seeking to stop doing that, uncomplicate my life and keep things simple. So I went and got a Gen 5 G27. It's more than good enough, thought it's good to have my EDC work exactly like the duty gun, has mag compatibility with all the .40 Glocks, can get anything you want for these things. I can make a 27 bigger, but can't make a 22 or 23 smaller. I like the versatility. If I was just going to EDC it, I may have gone with the 23, but the 27 is a better flex into the BUG role as well and can truly be an everyday carry (on and off duty). Can find anything you want for the Glocks and I could even drop in a longer G23 barrel or a 9mm conversion barrel. Interesting side note is the 26/27 has always been made had a rounded-off muzzle, way before other models.

But my large hands don't allow for easy/fast magazine changes, and the grip leaves my pinky almost hanging on for life. I picked up a 45 last week and I think I'm in love. I got a set of those excess Dot sights coming not the big dog I got the standard. And I got the same what you have the tlr7a. Ordered a real tree Autumn leaf looking holster from we the people already cut for the tlr7a and a mag carrier. Unfortunately I do not live in a state that sees self-defense as a reason for concealed carry. Hopefully when the supreme Court hears this New York case that will change. Either way I think it's smart to have a holster whether it be outside the waistband or inside the waistband just to store the gun in when it's positioned in your house for self-defense. I went with the inside waistband like I said in case the ruling goes the way we want, if not it still works perfectly for me because it will sit on the nightstand with the clip facing upward. When I go to grab it in the middle of the night I'll be able to bring it over to my chest grab that clip and strip the gun out of it.
