    Ended up going with 19, 45 MOS and 17 - all gen 5
    My reason;
    19 = winter carry (G43x summer carry)
    45 MOS = for a build
    17 = bed side
    Don’t judge me. Just wanted to justify my purchases lol

    I absolutely love my Gen5 G17 MOS. It’s a duty-sized handgun, but it’s my go-to piece to carry on my belt rig where I’m not concerned about concealment. With a RMR, the accuracy is unmatched.

    I do not have the 45 MOS, but the 45 with reddot mounted. I went that direction as primarily a home defense with a slightly smaller slide with full 17 rd capacity. Plus I am now able to take that slide and mount it onto a G19 or G26. Couldn't be happier!

    Just got a G45 (my 4th Glock) and I love it, it’s my absolute favorite Glock. Got it to replace my gen4 17 as my concealed carry. Also want to note that my 45’s trigger pulled 4.5lbs right out of the box, the moment I brought it home.

    • @TacticalConsiderations

      I am also leaning towards the 45 for my first EDC. If I may ask, how is the concealability for you? Any trouble printing or with a good holster it's no big deal? I'm a 6'1 slim guy so I don't think the full size lower should be an issue for me but I'm curious.

    • @jeremycook5393
      @jeremycook5393 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@charliegundlach8388 Concealment is fine, especially if you’re slim and set the holster up well. A foam wedge adhered to the holster will tilt the gun in. For best comfort, pair it with the Hunter Constantine concealed carry belt. The belt has a metal inlay to support a lot of weight, but also an elastic section so you can hold the gun tight against your body but it’ll still move and flex with you.

    G45 MOS with a Glock factory threaded barrel. This combination will maintain the advantage of the lighter weight G19 slide while being within a tenth of an inch of the full size barrel for ballistics.

  • @fearnonebutone4977
    @fearnonebutone4977 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I love the 17 and 45. One point that a lot of people tend to bring up in support of the 45, is for LE officers being able to sit in their vehicles easier/better and able to draw from sitting in the patrol car etc. However, I’ve never seen an LE officer, myself included, who did not run a weapon light (most notably the X300). So having an X300 would make the barrel length irrelevant to sitting as the light extends out anyway. So if running a bright light, then I think it’s a toss up. That extra sight radius of the 17 is there, but barely enough to make a huge difference. I have a TLR7 on my 45 so that works out, but for duty use I would rather an X300 which makes it a wash for barrel length.
    But I totally agree that the 45 is a sweet overall option and I tend to use my 45 most of all Glocks I own.

    Got myself the glock 45 a few days ago, can’t wait to pick that baby up! I honestly always seem to lean on the “best of both worlds” when it comes to anything.

    After finding out that my natural point of aim is aligned with Glock's grip angle, I've been more interested in these videos. I know there's lots of great guns (i.e., Walther PDP), but since I have a natural point of aim with the Glock grip angle, I've been doing more research on them. I'll take any advantage I can get, even if it means 'compromising' and going with Glock. I appreciate these older videos because your opinions and insights on the platform still holds true to this day. Thank you Mike!

    Just watched this again as I just picked up a G17MOS. I got a 507K to mount up at the suggestion of my gunsmith. I think I might look into putting my 509T on it. It looks like with the TLR7 the two are the same overall length.
    I wanted a 19MOS and was talked into the 17 because of the LEO use & availability of parts since 17/19 doesn’t interchange and with an extended mag in the 19 the play can cause impact that isn’t POA. My price in 9/2021 was $745

    I love my G45, but I bought it early, way before there was an MOS version. When the MOS version came out, I started pricing options for getting my G45 to be optics ready (slide cut, Glock MOS upper, generic upper, etc.) and instead bought the IWI Masada, which is optics ready (comes with 4 plates so you're not locked into a single optic as with a slide cut), is physically almost identical to the G45 (except reviewers have preferred the Masada trigger), performs as well as the G45, and comes from a manufacturer who's reliability is up there with Glock. The difference (other than a more limited aftermarket for Glock fanboys): the Masada is about the same price as just a new MOS slide, since it's MSRP is just $480 (and can be purchased for as little as $402). So the Masada now replaces my G45, and my G45 now lives in a Command Arms MCK Gen. 2.0 PDW Conversion Kit, with an optic mounted on top. All is good with the world.

    Good review. I would take a 19 over either, as my hands aren’t particularly large and I carry appendix. I own the 45/19X, as well as a 17/Shadow Systems DR920 and I’d say that the former seems to recoil differently and is easier to conceal-but the latter size is on my nightstand. The DR920 has a lot less rounds through it, but I really like it a lot so far. Great company-American-made-w great customer service. Huge fan of their optics mounting system which was what led me to them in the first place. And they do shoot a bit flatter than my Glocks. Just great guns. I don’t know why, but the 45 doesn’t quite feel as natural balance wise in my hand. Maybe because the grip tricks my brain into thinking it’s a 17 and it gets confused with the slide weight 😂 but my 17 just points and I feel there’s minimal need for adjustment to align the sights as compared to the 45. Maybe one day I’ll warm up to it as a dedicated carry gun. But for now, my 17 is king and surprisingly easy to conceal even with a t shirt and shorts

    I have the gen4 glock19, glock19x, and glock20. I didn't get the glock 17 as there are just so many other alternatives besides that at that price point. I instead picked up a P80 which is same length as the glock17, and yet has better features, uses glock magazines and a better trigger over the glock.

    Do you have any experience with the Shadow Systems MR920? I have been wanting to get a pistol that uses Glock magazines and between all the G19 clones the MR920 seems to be the best balance of price to performance/features on paper.
    The reason why I don't want to just get a G19/G45 is because the MSRP at my local shops is only around $150 - $200 less than a base model MR920. So if I buy a G19/G45 and after market sights I'm already at the price of a stock MR920 minus all the features it has.

      I like the 5 just because I don't like longer barrels for duty holsters since they drive into the seat and cause you to contort your hips. And they have no real dis advantage to the 17. When it comes to ballistics and site radius those who think that difference is going to make an actual difference are likely not basing that is practical skill.
