  • First note: I spoke wrong in the video...the little “contraption” was the fuel bowl drain valve. Just a little tip on how to re-prime your powerstroke. Like I mention in the video, if I misspoke on anything please comment.

    Dude! Thank you so much for your video! You saved me and my family from being stuck on the side of the interstate waiting for a tow at midnight.

    Thanks! I ran out of diesel pulling up to the pump and then couldn't start. This did the trick

    Hello, yes 👍 that worked for me, I'm gonna try to post on to show or point at the leveler that needs to be open, someone that or not mechanically inclined might not find it., thanks for your help and that other guy that helped you.

    Thank you thank you thank you for your video. My gas gauge read 1/4 tank full with 280 miles on a digital readout. Nevertheless I ran out of gas on the highway. Because of your video I was able to pour 5 gallons in the tankFollow your instructions and in seconds the engine was up and running. It ran rough as hell for a while but that’s to be expected until all the air was gone thank you again for your video

    That yellow plastic tab is for draining water out of the fuel filter housing.

    For all the people out there with the 1/4 tank issue, it's a very common problem with 7.3... Look up Hutch Mod 7.3 and do this.

    Do you think it's possible he was releasing air via the little schrader valve and not via the drain tube?

    So leave the fuel bowl empty but when cranking the the release pressure open til it cranks up?

    Hope this is my issue. Drive it home and parked it and cranked it about two weeks later until the batteries were just about flat. Figure I must have lost prime.

    Are you typically able to drive your truck around below a quarter of a tank or no?

    • @bw973
      @bw973  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually fill it up before that, but I have been below a quarter tank a handful of times.

    • @raydornbush
      @raydornbush 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alright just wondering because when you said you had a quarter of a tank when you were going into your driveway and it shut off... something that's in the fuel tank, can't remember what it is called, that gives you the last little bit in the tank came to my mind. Some times those fall off, black plastic piece, and can cause problems when at ~ a quarter of a tank if I recall correctly.

      Yeah, it’s the end of the fuel sending unit (or something like that). I’m gonna be dropping my tank before too long to check those filters and maybe just change out the whole contraption...as far as I know it’s never been done.

      If you are running out of fuel at 1/4 tank, the pick up and filter has broken off of sending unit. This is typical in Ford trucks. My 96 f250 did the same thing. 100%

      Ray Dornbush yes my 99 f250 7.3 can go to town and back about 5 times with the gas light on but towns about 5 minutes away

    good you got her back on the road, but next time someone else is under your hood working, might be a good idea to find out what they are doing/did and maybe even before they start tinkering to make sure they even know what they're doing. you don't want some moron pulling a can of starting fluid out of his jacket pocket...

    I'm going to try this tody... I ran out of fuel and had to be towed home... there was no signal where I was stranded so I couldn't search for help online.

      @@bw973 anything that helps it makes sense to crank your engine while the water seperater is open to force fuel.
