Hello from northeast Ohio. I was 12 in 1985, and this movie was always one of my favorites. John Hughes was a hit-maker! We all loved the movies he made. He had a way to make a movie that young people really loved. He died in 2009 at the age of 59, but the legacy he left behind is amazing. And by the way, "Lisa" was played in this movie by Kelly LeBrock, and she used to be married to Steven Seagal. ... Cheers from northeast Ohio.
Not long after this movie Anthony Michael Hall went on a fitness bender and came out of it more than 50lbs heavier with muscles. It was done natural as he did not trust steroids which were still legal though discouraged. This was one of Robert Downey Jr's first breakout roles. A couple of years later, however he was repeatedly busted for drug use and most in hollywood thought he would be dead by the 90s. Downey Jr cleaned up and went on to being a major star in hollywood.
Did you notice the guy that said Malacas at the table in the bar, was the janitor from The Breakfast Club? And Lisa pulling that Houdini disappearing truck was an awesome farewell.
Early on I didn't think *Amber* was going to enjoy it since it is kind of a teen male movie, but she warmed up & didn't take it to seriously & just enjoyed it for what it was
No one is as "offended" as the Internet makes it out to be. Like usual people take a few viral examples and it suddenly becomes reality. If social media had existed in the 80's, your parents would have been just as "offended" as you claim people are now.
@Nasty-Canasta kind of like how you are "offended" by my comment, my opinion, and you have to correct me. You are part of the problem. It's not social media. It's the people on social media who are so insecure in who they are and their own beliefs that they can't handle a simple comment made in a chat.
@@TwoRavens222 How am I "offended" by offering an opinion? That's literally how debates happen. The fact you lack critical thinking isn't my problem. Yes social media is the problem. It made the dumbest, most insecure, people have a voice. The media loves sensationalism so Inside Edition runs a story on how a "controversy" is going "viral" on social media, and people like you take it for face value. It's the same boomer bs of "the good old days". Ironically, it's those same boomers that are offended the most. Imagine getting upset enough to boycott Bud Light or Nascar or a company that has DEI hiring practices? It's textbook projection.
@@TwoRavens222 How am I being "offended" by stating my opinion? So anyone that replies to a comment you make is "offended"? How does that makes sense? Yes, social media is the problem. It gave the dumbest people in society a voice to express their fake outrage. In case you haven't noticed, outrage sells. So now everything becomes a controversy that people like you buy into. Where are these "offended" people anyway? People like you keep mentioning them, yet I never actually come across any of them. Must be that sensationalism again

Interesting tidbits: RDJ hired Duran Duran to play at his birthday party a few years back. Also, he and Anthony Michael Hall were best friends back in the 80s. They even starred on SNL together.
I have seen this movie hundreds of times and I love it every time. Anthony Michael Hall is fantastic in this. This movie is one of my favorite. I remember how young he was in "Six Pack". That was a good movie. National Lampoons Vacation, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Johnnie Be Good were all great movies that he was in back at that time.
The BEST part of this movie reaction - was watching the 2 of you reacting to it! You could tell that J. was going back to his male teen years with these boys - & feeling PLENTY of 2nd hand embarrassment for them. Amber was just having plain old embarrassment that teen boys could really be like this. As a female, I totally understand Amber.
A classic, iconic movie! So much fun! These graphics were cutting edge back then...lol. Kelly LaBrock was an absolute beauty. Your reactions to some scenes in this movie are as hysterical as the movie itself. Yes, this movie did not age well but back then it was awesome and as a teenage boy this was perfect...lol
Anthony Michael Hall is the actor who plays Gary. And as an 80's movie fan, I agree that this is one of my favorite 80s movies, and definitely the funniest role Anthony ever played. Dude is hilarious in real life too, and very fun at Comic Cons when they have him and the cast of this or The Breakfast Club, you can see on a bunch of vids on youtube. Also, if you really like his work, you may like a show he did in the late 90s/early 2000s called The Dead Zone. The “she did what?!” gets me every time lol
Bill Paxton as Chet was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. He was one of the rarest actors there was. A character actor with enough raw charisma to steal every scene he was ever in. It was a genuine tragedy when he died.
"Can we keep this between us? I'd hate to lose my teaching job" is my favorite line in the movie and the delivery was perfect.
Anthony Michael Hall is a LEGEND!!!!!!! Great in EVERYTHING he does!! lol
This movie is the 80's in a nutshell... as you say "lighthearted", fun, don't take things or themselves too seriously, yet still offer great messages. Damn... I miss the 80's!
The shower seen where they are talking and you see a close up on their lips gets me evertime 😂😂😂
GARY AND HIS PARENTS ARE HILARIOUS!😂😂😂
Rob Squad. The best John Hughes movie that no reactors has done is "Some Kind of Wonderful". I promise you'll love it
I was just going to comment the same thing. 😀
I second that! Some Kind Of Wonderful is an AWESOME movie.
@@dustinjones8887 John Hughes got overruled on many aspects of the script in Pretty in Pink and he actually didn’t like the final cut. He wanted a grittier, darker storyline and that’s why he wrote Some Kind of Wonderful. IMO it’s Hughes best film next to The Breakfast Club. I listen to the soundtrack often.
@@chrishackett554 - Wow. So that rejection helped create an even better movie that might not have existed otherwise. That's like BTTF producers telling Zemekis that an atomic bomb (boring) would be too expensive, so they cut the budget to keep it on the same set , which made it much better anyway, with lightning hitting the clock tower. Great to know! Thanks. And yes, that soundtrack is awesome. I got it too. Love that Lick the Tins cover of "Can't Help Falling In Love". The best song you can ever find for the ending of that movie.
One of my favorite movies.
Thanks!...Loved your reaction!!
When they're in the blues bar 'she kicked me in the family jewels she broke my heart "she broke more than his heart "
I absolutely love Bill Paxton playing big brother in this movie😊
GAH!!!! My top 10 of all time 80's movies. I can recite it word for word. Guess I'm watching it again. With y'all!
@gdhaney136 i did too.
I loved Jay and Ambers reaction to Gary in the bar. Amber slinking down in her chair then laughing so hard. You can tell they lost it lol
"He don't even have his license, Lisa!" So many funny quotes! Chet = 💩 LOL And one of the best soundtracks. I love Oingo Boingo. Other 80s romps to consider: Ruthless People, The Toy, Outrageous Fortune, The Money Pit, Delirious, Parenthood, The Great Outdoors, Incredible Shrinking Woman, and Xanadu. Love y'all, keep smiling!! 🍿😊
The Bar scene was classic!!!
Bill Paxton was Morgan Earp n Tombstone, he was the leader of the expedition in Titanic, and he also was on Apollo 13 etc.
My favorite 80’s nerd movie is Real Genius, I much prefer it to this one
❤ this was my favorite movie when I was a kid. Great cast. John Hughes was at the top of his game
For those of you who don't know...the guy in the bar who Gary's telling the story to is none other than the blues music great BO DIDDLEY!
That's a colorized version of the original Frankenstein (1931).
Growing up, that bar scene was our favorite as well... recently got a signed pic from Anthony Michael Hall from that bar scene as well from a Comic-Con appearance. 😅
They actually had Kelly LeBrock's (Lisa) age pretty close in this when they said she was 23. When the movie was released she was 25 which puts her age during filming closer to 24.
Being a teen in the 1980s was the best.
Thank you, thank you thank you I didn’t think anybody would ever cover this movie.
A few people actually have.
Hands down my favorite reaction to any movie by any reactors ever on TH-cam. You guys made my day!😂😂😂😂 Loved it!
Another 80s classic is Revenge of the Nerds! It’s a must watch.
True, but there are a number of consent based questions brought up in that movie...
Yes that is the original Frankenstein movie
In color, which was the rage in the 80's
@@jonathanmoon86yes! Because Ted Turner had bought the rights to a lot of classic films and had them colorized.
Note, the guy who uses the word Melakos is the same guy who is the janitor in 'Breakfast club".
The blues bar scene is pure gold.
Just imagine being a 14 yo boy in the 80s when this movie came out, and only then you can begin to really appreciate this movie.
That bar scene kills me every time!
On the *telephone?!*
Miss the 80’s on so many levels.
Early on I didn't think *Amber* was going to enjoy it since it is kind of a teen male movie, but she warmed up & didn't take it to seriously & just enjoyed it for what it was
I knew you would lose it when Gary got that spice in him from the alcohol and cigar.
This movie was made before people were offended by everything, and it is hilarious!
@@TwoRavens222 How am I offended by replying to your comment? So anyone that replies to any internet comment is "offended"? Please elaborate.
This is why us who grew up in the '80s, with 'Weird Science' & 'Back to School' it's hard to take Robert Downey Jr. Serious as Iron Man
One of my favorite movies from the past.
He was in Edward Scissor Hands too. Anthony Michael Hall is hilarious! Never get tired of this movie. I was a teen and most of the jokes flew right over my head!😂😂😂
Interesting tidbits: RDJ hired Duran Duran to play at his birthday party a few years back. Also, he and Anthony Michael Hall were best friends back in the 80s. They even starred on SNL together.
YES! I am so happy that you watched this.
Better Off Dead
Real Genius
Teachers
Let It Ride
Another great 80's movie that people are forgetting is ST. ELMO'S FIRE & LESS THAN ZERO
❤
Less Than Zero is still my favorite movie
Hoo, boy, Less Than Zero is a bummer. Great film.
In the 80s we didn't get too bogged down with reality, or to quote Robin Williams "Wow, Reality, What a concept"
As a soldier who served in a Pershing Missile Battery, I really enjoy the scene where it appears. It was so random. Such a fun flick!
Ahhh I'm so excited you guys are finally doing weird science!
Not a comedy, but a really cool show, kind of in the mold of Psych or Monk, if you're into those detective type shows
Omg I think we just saw Jordan realize in real time that yes, to go “online” (use a modem) in the 80’s we actually had to place our home phone’s handset onto a port 🤦🏼♂️😂😂
Chet is a weird character, never thought I'd see a young Bill Paxton (male lead from Twisters)
I randomly say “On the TELEPHONE!!?!” at least once a week.
Anthony Michael Hall also played the creep, bully boyfriend in Edward Scissorhands and the geek in Sixteen Candles. He's an awesome actor.
You also saw Bill Paxton as Fred Haise in Apollo 13.
I am so glad you reacted to this movie..top 10 best movies ever. And yes, I’m an 80’s kid.
The 80's were the best! And yes this is how we partied back in the day!
I was 15 when this came out, and it was one of my favorites that year. Lots of big name's in this movie. 😆
23:55: “Gary was just taking a sh*t!”
Wyatt’s smile before Gary’s slap.😂
Oh…that will never not be funny to me.
Slap the 80s out of him 😂🤣
Another 80’s classics. These movies were the best!
