If you didn't play the game yet, infecting island is EXTREMELY annoying, and could make you lose the game because of that! One of the island is the all-mighty-meme lord:Greenland. They're very hard to infect, and if you do, cold climate and low population density makes it harder to infect locally.
This is how I feel about that GREENLAND, which is not green. Virus is so weak against humanity's super weapon.

Greenland was always hard to get to, but I remember that I even one time had problems with the philippines where they would nuke city’s with infected people and they made me lose the game, because then after half invading it with the nano Virus a cure was made for my nano virus and lost.

This worked for me: never start with Greenland or an isolated country (I personally choose China). Don't play aggressively from the start, don't invest in symptoms, invest only in transmission: the most useful are water transmission (for Greenland) and all transmissions that increase mutation to gain symptoms without using points (bird transmission is the best) . Save as many points as you can, you'll need them later. If your disease mutates mild symptoms, you can leave them (a bit risky), but if it starts mutating many or lethal symptoms, remove them to remain undetected. Stay undetected as long as you can until at least all countries (including Greenland) are infected. When they spot you and they start doing the cure, use all your saved points to get lethal symptoms and win fast. Save a couple for lab upgrades (the ones that delay cure). If you use the fungus, you shouldn't have any problems.
Except for the birds, not being a fungus, and water transmission, this is pretty much what COVID did in real life.
Funnily enough fungus is always the one I struggle with. Everything else I find alright.

One time I was doing an absolutely brutal run but my plague just wouldn't touch Canada. No matter what I did, it just wasn't affected. Even after I got some people sick, it just refused to spread in Canada alone. Canada ended up leading the cure research and saving the world. I still have no idea what happened.

Decade after the world was complete silent Greenland sent a task force to investigate and determine the condition of the world and also to find survivors if there are any. Days later the squad arrived at north Canada with advance night vision technology. They moved out in the cold foggy night and went to investigate the buildings and surprisingly some of them are in terrible condition as if a great war happened, as they went further to the south they noticed a figure running in a hallway. With caution they followed the shadow and ended in a dead end. Confused one of the soldiers look back and was taken away by something dragging him into the dark, with quick flexes they began to shoot to save one if there Comrades and as they did the shadow let go and vanished in the dark. The commander commanded to make a temporary base to signal back information back to the ship and into the country and so they can also request reinforcement. They found an abandon Hotel with no sound to be heard, as they moved up they were surrounded by survivors with damaged rusty rifles, the squad leader calmed down the panicked survivors and told them there gonna be rescued, pleased on what they heared they put there guns down and agreed to let them stay. In the rooftop of the building they set up a mini radio tower to send in information, with a few fixes and moving objects they made a comfy living room. As soon as they began to build up there radio they heared a huge bang, gunshots, and people screaming in the Lower floor, remembering what happened earlier the squad got their equipments and rushed down in the stairs and bumping into one of the survivors. The survivor explained the situation in short as possible and after he was done talking a long tentacle like thing smashed coming from the floor and pulling him down, the squad lit up there lights only to see countless dearranged bodies of the survivors and in the middle was a monster who is currently regenerating and using special eyes to look for other survivors, they dropped down there flammable grenades to burn his rotten flesh down and retreated together with the remaining survivors, without any status or information about the creature they returned to there ship to escape as who knows what limits that monster has.
Decades later of reporting this information Greenland has began it's expansion throughout northern and southern america and some bits of Europe, Asia in the other hand was more dense than anything. The mutants evolution was so fast they needed powerful nuclear weapons to take down one big ass strong Mutant, it was also proven that the cause of this mutation was the coronavirus which have been developing throughout the decades and will continue developing. The monster that was found in Canada was actually a 3rd rate mutant who can only regenerate and use tentacles. Parts of the south is still currently having a war and retaking the land, Several war machines was sent in Europe to exterminate A-Rank and S-Rank mutants as those mutants have tough like diamonds skin or a lighting speed regeneration. In Asia however the mutants have evolved so much they began killing each other and some have also acquired knowledge of a human

The year was 2028, after 6years since their borders were now opened and something jamming their signal to the outside world and blaming the harsh cold weather's, lack of food and supplies to fight the cold weather were not being delivered, concerned what's going on since their last cargo delivery was a year ago the prime minister and several other officials went in to solve the problem and as they go they took one of their cruiser ship for a comfy ride. The year was 2030, 2 years after the prime minister went missing and several other soldiers who were sent back to America or Europe for information about the minister but they never came back, starved and hungry the residents couldn't even grow crops without the snow storm crashing their farm. The same year Veteran task force was sent in to investigate the unusual silent of the world and recruiting survivors into their ranks. A week later after that event the roundtable was formed consisting of 12 members who were formerly part of the government and some are talented intellectuals, surprised for the sudden announcement the people doubt that they would make a change after knowing that their are monsters outside the country that can grow limbs and organs but despite their doubts the roundtable quickly began to move and formed a plan, with their remaining troops and machines together with the saved survivors they formed a plan to expand their nation and also to gather supplies such as food and ammunition. In their second day they sent in a squad to scout upper parts of Canada as they are the closest area to be explored and also to build a temporary base to send in information as they begin their next stragic move. And as they expected it was roaming with zombies and strange looking ones as well, without any information about them they avoided them and we're forced to sent back campus and explore safer locations as the roundtable were extremely cautious about losing any troops. Some parts of the land were only filled with normal type mutants and only a few special ones so they were able to retake several small parts of the land while also writing down on what abilities they posses or how strong and hardened they are, some were hurt in the process but nobody was in critical condition

The year is 2045, the Dracula project which enhance both body and mind and increase regeneration of troops was a success and advance Mecha human armour were finely crafted by the inspiration of High ranking mutants. The first generation Spartans are also high in demand in several parts of the world as they needed backup immediately for both offensive and defensive, flesh hounds are also still living deep in the sewers and tunnels hunting down people with their long fangs and that the roundtable are getting stressed over these monsters as they are incredibly extremely fast and can turn anyone they bite into ghouls making them a formidable opponent, And their were also rumours about the government creating Homunculus that have different powers by using the dead bodies of high ranking mutants and troops who have good genetics...but that's just a rumour right? It's not like a certain character is gonna be born there with the power of Vampire that can regenerate and won't die no matter how much shells you fire at it and can do blood bending right?

Just saw this in my recommendations. Can't believe it's been more than 2 years from when it appeared in my notifications.
I found going for the extreme zoonosis perk in transmission gives me non-human infection of Greenland. Has yet to fail me. If I'm having issues getting there I adapt my strategy to include animals. Also works on Madagascar. I'm less worried now when they close their ports. :)

A trick that helped me was to make the disease highly infectious, but not symptomatic. Anytime a symptom evolves, devolve it. Wait till 100% of the world is infected then start killing. Making no symptoms also made it virtually undetectable. I was able to speed run all the way to the parasite even beating the normal difficulty and brutal on parasite using this strat. Also, I’m on mobile so idk if it’ll work for you, but just a thought! 😄

@@CantPickOneFandom You can get it done actually pretty quickly if you focus on the physiological symptoms on brutal. It makes it hard for the scientists to want to make a cure because of insomnia. And save your drug resistance perks for when you have half the population affected, then you can bring the lethargic and symptoms up to bring death. I always found picking central america for the first hour is the best way to get people infected fast without it going notice. Because right beside it is the powerhouse the United States and you're taking one of the big players out early, especially when you have your Air and water transmission activated. That's the fastest way I figured out how to get it done (which is about 2.0 years) to get everyone infected.

Greenland: pathetic.
Hint about Shadow Plague:
- Choose Greenland in the Start, upgrade Blood Rage to Max while killing people, and maybe save up some DNA point for Vampire Flight and you can upgrade them as well
- Evolves the Dark Rituals abilities 1 & 2
- Once when the Templars are spawned, just destroy all of them (need Blood Rage Max)
- Now fly to Caribbean and save up the DNA
- Just save up for around 400 DNA point (Remember to get Blood Rage on and move to another country if that last one got fully exterminated)
- Make all of Vampire Lair scatters around the world and evolve Shadow Portal for easier transportation
- Now trigger the Shadow Plague
- Go to Abilities tab and purchase the abilities that increase the infection rate
- After that, use it to upgrade the transmissions of Shadow plague and adding for some symptoms
- Go to Symptoms section and evolve a symptom called Vampiric Awakening to make everything easier
- Don’t forget to destroy all of the research facilities for cut off the cures
- Go evolve the Shadow Slaves upgrade and after that just infect and killing all of the world

well, spontaneous infections only happen when playing on Casual. If you want to get achievements, well good luck!
edit: spontaneous infection event only happens on casual, but there's still blood transfusion (for maxing out Mosquito/Blood tree) and the spontaneous *animal* infection (from maxing out zoonotic tree) but those are super rare. I've only ever seen the blood one twice in my life, and I've played a LOT of plague inc
What I usually do is start in Saudi Arabia and start my disease off by having it be more transmit-able and show no actual lethality or visibility. This allows for over a period of time where every country on Earth (including Greenland) to be infected. This is when you save up all your points and max out as much lethality and resistance upgrade as possible to kill humanity quickly.
This is going in my "where to go when there is an apocalypse" document, roght next to switterland, and Bhutan
For newbies here's a tip: Evolve all way to spread before the kill effect so people wont search for cure neither close ports and airports way too early

Funniest part with Shadow Plague starting in Greenland is that this is a VERY good strategy for completing this disease on Mega Brutal. You just chow down on the two islands and murder the Templar and then go from there

Yeah I Play this game and I actually ALWAYS start in Greenland work on building the disease so by the time it spreads it is fully developed and the game finishes pretty quickly
Tips for infecting Greenland for new players: Suggesting you go quiet, like infect everyonr before unleashing Armaggedon on the world or just make sure you’re not too aggressive that you kill your hosts before Greenland’s infection starts. If you infect your starting country's population above a certain percentage (i don't remember atm but iirc it is above 50 percent) game initiates a random checkup and that checkup has a certain percentage to detect the outbreak. I learned about this in pravus's mega brutal series so if you wanna learn more about it I would suggest his channel
edit: i checked it out and if any country gets infected %100, your plague gets instantly noticed

If you're a fungus, you can use fungal spores. And also, maybe start of as the UK, and upgrade the air and water transmissions, because the UK is an island country, they have to rely on boats and planes more than mainland countries, so, the UK would brings lots of infected ships and planes around the world. Also, I wouldn't recommend starting off as Greenland, because not many ships come from Greenland, and you'd be stuck for a while.
