So for anyone who didn't get the ending, the entire game takes place inside some giant sea creature and at the end this creature is caught and slaughtered, allowing the protagonist to fall free from it's digestion(?) system, onto the conveyer and into the crusher. This is proved by how the protagonist falls, and by the other creatures in two pieces in the background, whos guts and internal creatures also fall onto a conveyer.
I think it's more of some reproductive system. Some baby sharks go through _slightly_ similar (albeit not as extreme) where the embryos duke it out in the womb and eat each other until one survives.
Close, it is a newborn. The entire time was an embryo or fertilize egg. The creature like sharks was eating its smallest & weakest siblings. Sharks hatch inside their mother & eat their youngest siblings. The female shark mate with different males so, the strongest offspring survives. Also some animals lay their eggs inside other animal like a parasite their offspring grow inside of an animal. Nature is scary & wild.
It really is implied after all that everything gets crushed. Each time the bar in the lower part of screen shows the next stage: one cell, couple of cells, more cells, small embryo etc. When it comes to the last one, it looks like bloody mashed meat.
For a few moments before the ending cutscene I thought that main character will evolve into the same purple creature, that would be much more cruel, being forced to continue the vicious cycle than simply die.
i think this game's message is that there's always gonna be something bigger than us. even though in the end we eat Orro and its embryo, we eventually realize we've been swimming inside a bigger fish all along. Something I imagined for if there was ever a sequel is that the skull of the orro behind you is just big enough to stop the crusher in time for you to get out of the way, and the next part is to slowly make your way to the sea. By now you are a juvenile of your creature, and your goal is to find your parents- whom of which laid your egg inside of the larger creature. Due to pollution nest sites were scarce, so they got creative. Even tho the game states you are mashed meat, it would be cool to see!
I love indie horror games such as these, and it’s there’s no loud sounds, gore, that scary stuff that scares you but it’s just a really unsettling feeling that lingers until your safe from the threat or something, somehow it’s more scary
The ending is actually very interesting because there could be a plot if they will make the part 2 Like the crusher just cant crush easily the big guy (the purple monster) so thats the moment that our protagonist can escape, or a magical thing happened like he got a wonderful powerful legs and poof escaped on that factory thing. And we never knew what lurks in the deepest ocean.....
I agree that’s what the game is trying to tell, but I believe everything is not for nothing. I believe being alive and experiencing things is a lot more interesting than just blank space as if nothing exists.
The Ouroboros (snake devouring itself from the tail) is a symbol of the cycle of matter in the universe, which devours itself to be born again and so on indefinitely
3:58 It chills me how The Leviathan gives you a kiss. I dont know if its because its another version of yourself, the fact that you freed him, Or maybe because it just the animal canibal instinct.
I noticed that in the last chase sequence the main predators human ‘face’ has actually rotted away at the front exposing the nose ridge. The side eyes also are almost “crying” and the body is even more rotted from when it was first shown (less segments + more exposed inner flesh and bones). You also later find the rest of its ‘body’ it looks like that detached from the front half, and maybe you even swallow it’s younge(?) because you eat an embryo that looks like it has a smaller pinky wormy version of the creature that was safeguarded by a wall of its rotting corpse before you destroyed it. Just an interesting note tbh dunno what it means though
Orro is the name of the big purple creature and borros is the name of the played character. Orroborros is the name of the snake that eats it's own tail. The game has a lot of symbolism. Really an amazing piece of work! Thanks for watching :)
He knew what dangerous creature are we even at the start - normal predator gives up after long chase, because he understands that we don't worth to waste energy, this creature isn't even gets distracted on other creatures - it keeps chasing us, because it understand how dangerous we can grow, and eat its last embryon. At the end it even rips off part of his body to protect his last egg. These acts kinda show us that it is the last of it's kind, and it's doing everything to protect his only child, but too late.
I interpreted it as how perilous conception is. A fertilized egg has to go through a lot to even get to a point where it is viable, and even then- nothing is guaranteed
for those who didn't understand the real idea of the game, actually the name "swallow the sea" is about the human being with its heavy machinery and destructive technology devouring more and more the sea and destroying its ecosystem little by little as shown in the end of the game
Ya gotta wonder, what was that thing growing into? It it was powerful enough to eat other large multicellular organisms as a single cell, and then even bigger ones as a fetus, who knows what that thing could've become if it kept growing.
Sharks do that in real life, they hatch inside their mother & the biggest eat the smallest one. The female mates with different males so, the strongest offspring survives & pass down their genes if they get to adulthood. Nature is wild.
My spin on a good ending: Borrus escapes the factory and takes revenge on the people who are crushing all these sea creatures. These fish now become the dominant species of this world, and bow down to King Borrus, conquerer of land and sea.
Horror games that take place in the deep sea give me a feeling of dread that no other horror setting is able to accomplish, especially when they play with the idea of the deep sea being full of horrific creatures.
11:06 if you look closely the purple monster is crying while eating himself, he literally does not have enough foot to survive and is stuck eating himself.
You can not know for sure, but I asked the creator in a Q&A if there would be a sequel, and he answered that that would be hard, as he implied that it got killed :/

Yeah, that story would make sense actually.
SEND THAT TO THE DEVS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(spanish) y luego el plop twist, Orro se come a sus padres y acaba el juego

Same honestly.
Love how when you get big enough the red worms are like: OH HELL NO! Lol
It was very satisfying to eat them eventually haha
I love indie horror games such as these, and it’s there’s no loud sounds, gore, that scary stuff that scares you but it’s just a really unsettling feeling that lingers until your safe from the threat or something, somehow it’s more scary

Whenever i take damage i become sad hearing that sad sound it makes
Me too :(
Everyone else: This a very unique and scary game, i wish to see more of this.
Me: hehe funny marble
You are a simple man ;), I respect that!
The ending is actually very interesting because there could be a plot if they will make the part 2
Like the crusher just cant crush easily the big guy (the purple monster) so thats the moment that our protagonist can escape, or a magical thing happened like he got a wonderful powerful legs and poof escaped on that factory thing.
And we never knew what lurks in the deepest ocean.....
The thing is that it’s an industrial crusher I don’t think some big purple fish is gonna stop it anytime soon
and the small creature is 100% confirmed to be dead
"Pixels are not scary, they can't hurt you"

I love these classic flash game style games!!! Especially the ones where you swallow things and get their powers or get bigger and bigger.
The ending proves that, no matter what we do, no matter how many hardships we have faced, everything is for nothing.
Dude, that is just about the saddest take on this game so far :'(
I agree that’s what the game is trying to tell, but I believe everything is not for nothing. I believe being alive and experiencing things is a lot more interesting than just blank space as if nothing exists.
@@unchained8491 Just feeling philosophical the day I wrote it and was like, " I guess I can write a depressing comment".

It’s cool how Nicolás uses Orro in this game and also has Ouroboros as a boss fight in Brutal Orchestra with the same design. Pretty neat!

The Ouroboros (snake devouring itself from the tail) is a symbol of the cycle of matter in the universe, which devours itself to be born again and so on indefinitely
3:58 It chills me how The Leviathan gives you a kiss.
I dont know if its because its another version of yourself, the fact that you freed him,
Or maybe because it just the animal canibal instinct.
Borrus be like: I'm gonna eat myself to survive
The human face creature has a name, it's Orro
@@LuckClover1 Mr Orro was actually just living on a prayer and pure stubbornness
@@DelRae no, AN Orro, that's the name of the species
Orro is officially the cause of my thalassophobia
When you realise that this game is just seashine but in 8 bits and new enemy's:
16 bits.
This is so heartbreaking. I have no words.
How many times have you watched this play through over the years?
Me: Yes
You have watched this multiple times? :D That is awesome my guy, thanks a lot :))))
I interpreted it as how perilous conception is. A fertilized egg has to go through a lot to even get to a point where it is viable, and even then- nothing is guaranteed
I fear no man, but that thing....
4:05
It scares me
I do not blame you haha.
This is EXTREMELY good visual story telling!
I love how the giant purple creature is named Orro. Short for orroborus which is a snake eating its own tail, just like the creature.
for those who didn't understand the real idea of the game, actually the name "swallow the sea" is about the human being with its heavy machinery and destructive technology devouring more and more the sea and destroying its ecosystem little by little as shown in the end of the game
Ya gotta wonder, what was that thing growing into?
It it was powerful enough to eat other large multicellular organisms as a single cell, and then even bigger ones as a fetus, who knows what that thing could've become if it kept growing.
Watching this while having fear of the ocean was a bad idea, I should've took the hint from the thumbnail
Be careful when playing eat sand on roblox you don't know what's been hidden below you..
What's the hidden on that game (i player roblox anyway)

The author of the game. Made another game, named Brutal Orchestra. Many of the characters in this one, reappear.
My spin on a good ending:
Borrus escapes the factory and takes revenge on the people who are crushing all these sea creatures. These fish now become the dominant species of this world, and bow down to King Borrus, conquerer of land and sea.
OH SHIT I understand, so the biggest predator is not Borrus but the fishery that caught them. WE are swallowing the sea

Hes too big to have enough food even by eating himself
