My cringe moment was the moment she dumped her family’s Christmas ornaments:
1) her children or mother who lovingly gifted or made some of them. All those memories were tossed too, bcuz Watchtower and misguided people have taught her to disregard her parents, her husband, and her children’s connection to those memories. To distrust and despise an innocent and beautiful tradition as a statement of allegiance to the Watchtower and a rejection of everyone else. She was brainwashed into thinking those ornaments represented sinister forces.
2) and that the act of tossing those ornaments signaled the beginning of a life of fear and suspicion of everything not sanctioned by the Watchtower, even including neighbours, friends, and relatives. All relationships will be recalculated to eliminate evil influences. Even extending to avoiding education. The psychological abuse is horrific and will be hard for them to jettison as adults. And if the husband doesn’t join, he will silently be ostracized within his own family.
Poor children and husband, and grandparents.

Yet, they refuse to accept Jehovah's Witnesses are a destructive controlling CULT.

JWs could take a passage from their Bible out of context, and use it to condone murder, or rape. That, is what makes this cult, soo scary.

Being willing to die for one's beliefs is not unique to any religion. For those of us old enough to remember, there was a group called Heaven's Gate who all committed suicide for their beliefs. Jonestown, Branch Davidians, etc. All you have to do is convince your followers their beliefs are super duper special and totally the absolute truth and at least some of them will be willing to hurt themselves or others

The reason there are two different geneologies for Jesus is because one was on Mary’s ancestry connecting him to Abraham, Noah, and Adam establishing him as the promised savior of humanity where as the other is on Joseph’s ancestry connecting him to the destined king from the line of David as also fortold… I also did a quick google search and there was another Herod directly after Herod the Great that reigned during Jesus’s birth.
The Joseph line never made sense if God impregnated Mary. 😮

Agreed. But those witnesses are not being inspired to testify by a God who is an alleged perfect communicator, flawless and true. Gospel writers allegedly were. So, if there are fact stated in between gospels that cannot be perfectly reconcilable, like the genealogies can't, then...
Varying accounts is actually a stamp of authenticity. Otherwise if every minute detail was exactly the same the accusation could be made that somebody doctored the Scriptures. In a court, if all witnesses spoke word for word the exact same testimony, the judge would have reason to believe somebody got them together earlier to rehearse a script.

It was the Catholic Church at the Council/Synod of Hippo that determined the official canon of the Bible. But don't expect prots or heretics to ever study actual history lol
You could start with the ecumenical councils, the canon and deuterocanon (apocrypha) was received by the bishops of the early church based on the *consensus* of the church fathers and apostles. Essentially the gnostic gospels are outside of the consensus of the fathers (the bishops and monastics who knew/were ordained by the apostles and passed down both their written and oral teachings) so they were rejected. Their contents and the gnostic leaders held antithesis theological understandings of God from the Church. Hence why Arius (allegedly) got slapped by Santa Claus (Bishop Nicholas of Myra) for blaspheming the divinity of Christ at the first ecumenical council. Reading Ignatius of Antioch or Justin Martyr helps clear things up too. But I also recommend the videos and writings/books of Andrew Stephen Damick and Stephen de Young, they are super nerds on this subject
9:50 It should be noted that the only reason why some scholars believe that the gospels were written after 70 CE is because Jesus predicted the destruction of the temple in the gospels, which happened in 70 CE. If you don't just presuppose that these predictions were inserted after the fact and instead accept that these could have been legitimate predictions from Jesus, the evidence that the gospels were authored much earlier (62 CE or earlier) is fairly strong, with even some atheist scholars acknowledging it.

May I ask you guys here for some advice? Two of my friends, who are PIMI JWs, want to persuade me to their bible study. I left Christianity 1.5 years ago.
But I care for my friends, and I want to tell them, why I think the God of the bible (if he exists) has not a good morality.
I wish to speak to them about slavery in the Bible and the genocides ordered by God.
Do you have an advice what to point out to them?

Ask them how they can be sure that nine old men in New York are inspired by God. Also, you can ask about their contradictions in doctrines along the years.
Short solution: you can tell them you're an apostate.😂😂😂
These scriptures are all commandments about slaves being obedient and submissive to their masters: (Eph 6:5-9; Col 3:22-4:1; 1 Tim 6:1-2; Tit 2:9-10; 1 Pet 2:18-20).
Exod 21:20-21 condones the beating of slaves as long as they're not outright murdered (yikes), and Gen 16:3-4 and Exod 21:8-11 show god permiting the use of slaves as concubines. AND Lev 19:20-22 allows even the grape (TH-cam doesn't like that word) of slaves with basically just a slap on the wrist as punishment.
Probably don't have to use all of these. I'm just giving you a lot of options to look through, so you can pick whichever you find the most shocking/disgusting lol. Kinda busy right now, so if no one else replies with scriptures about god's several genocides, I'll come back later to send some of those too. Good luck!
@@auditordoscientosveintitre5545 thank you for your reply. Yes, I know a lot of the changed doctrines of the JWs and I always cautiously point one out, when I happen to meet them. I am careful, as I don't really want them to stop listening to these contradictions. I hope some of them will stay in their memory and one day, they will remember and be able to see the fraud and leave the organization.
I have not left the JWs, but a very similar cult. With a very similar doctrine, especially in regards to the importance and fulfilment of Revelation.
People who helped me see the deception of my former cult were very careful and patient.
When I left the cult, I was still a Christian, but after taking a look on cult tactics and a closer look on the authenticity, inerrancy and morality of the bible, I decided to leave religion altogether.
But it was a long process.
In the end it was not the particular doctrine or the changes of it, but the immorality displayed by the biblical God what made me leave.
My friends have agreed to look at the topics of slavery and genocide (for the first time in years ;))
And when I suggested these topics, I didn't imagine they would agree to talk about it...!
Ha, so now I need to be prepared ... and I don't have enough knowledge to speak about/present it...
And I am not very articulate. 😅

They usually have the same arguments against slavery and the genocides as most other apologetics.
Like it was a different time, and this was already progress in that time, and at least slaves were granted some rights etc.
And regarding the genocide with the Amalekites, they say they did awful things like ch. sacrifices and therefore the genocide was justified.
I think completely different and dont think genicide is ever justified (but I remember being deeply indoctrinated not long ago, defending the the bible to the point of silencing my conscience when it comes to these horrible things)
I want my friends to have an opportunity to hear about these things, so I want to point out, why the bible is not morally good.
They don't have a chance to hear that in the echo chamber of their congregation where they are now...

Agreed, and yes.. Unfortunately I'm well aware of how it is, and how it feels. I've been through many Americans protestant churches, my family was generally Lutheran, but the main church they sent me to, in my youth, was a Presbyterian Calvinist church, and oh boy were they liberal, but the strangest thing is that I'm Moravian by birthright.
I shudder to think of the poor people indoctrinated into the Latter Day Saints, Church of Mormon, and JW, if anyone needs Orthodoxy it's definitely them..

From that point forward no one ever changed them again,, Is that what your saying? It would have to be one guy or a group that knew what changes they would make and why would they do that? Would they gain power? Prestige? or was it for money?
