The Bible does not agree with established scientific fact.
On the very first page of the Bible in the first chapter of Genesis it states something so absurd that it is shocking to realize this now.
There it says that God separated the water with a VOID.
Separated it to water above the void and water below the void.
Some translations use the word firmament, expanse, or vault but it all means the same as void.
To the water below the void, God gather to its place so that dry land would appear in its midst- Land and Sea.
God called the void HEAVEN.
So according to the Bible's definition of heaven, if you jump up into the air or you jump off of your roof you are briefly in heaven.
Heaven is the space between Earth and all that water up there.
The Bible says that birds and angels fly through midheaven.
It also says that when it rains, that is God opening the floodgates of heaven, obviously to let some of that upper water rain down upon us.
Psalms 148.4 mentions the water above heaven.
And Genesis goes on to state that God created two great lights, one by day and one by night, and also the stars and he placed them IN THE VOID.
He also created birds to fly ACROSS THE VOID.
The Bible writers and people of that time had no idea that Earth was a spherical planet which revolved around the Sun in a solar system with other planets. They didn't even know what a planet was. All they knew is that there was a sun and a moon and stars in the sky and that they were just lights like lamps placed there by God. With beliefs such as that, it is no wonder that medieval paintings depicted angels sitting upon the clouds. It wasn't only until the last few centuries with inventions of telescopes and other scientific discoveries that we began to understand Earth's relationship to the cosmos.
So when you go outside on a clear day and you look up and see all that blue, keep in mind that the Bible writer and people of that time thought that was an ocean of water up there ABOVE the sun moon stars birds and angels.
Who wrote the Bible? The Bible is a man made book. Written by several unknown sources. Therefore it can't be authenticated if we don't know who wrote it. It blows my mind how people just "assume" the Bible must be the word of God. NO! The word of God must be unchanged and must come from a prophet of God. We have no idea who even wrote the Bible. What we do know however is that the the Bible was written by an unknown source, decades after Jesus life, in a language he didnt even speak. The Bible is no more the word of God than elmo. The Quran however came directly from Muhammed and has never EVER been changed...and that's a historical fact whether you believe in it or not.

Faith is belief without logical reason for that belief. It's even worse when there's a corporate benefit behind it like the JW, Catholic Church, Mormons and others.
? Faith specifically in God means to trust in God given God's reliable character, not without evidence. Many people think God exists given the historical evidence of jesus and other events that occured in the bible, but not all these people have faith in God. But yeah it is quite pathetic that this is what people think a church looks like and willfully give them their money like that can please God somehow. Def a shame

YHWH cares. Not shaving is one of the 613 laws of the Hebrew scriptures. There were a few laws on the shaving of hair and beard but those were in regard to mourning or oath taking.

I'm a Ukrainian exJW. While there's no name "Pablo", we have "Pavlo" (with the stress on "o"). Also, nobody would stop that young woman from fleeing the war. While it's expected to help in some way, at least by donating money, no one will know you don't do it unless you tell it yourself. And surely you won't be persecuted by not doing so. The only way to get persecuted is by directly helping the russian army

The funny thing about that cartoon is that actually does happen. My mom's whole family came into the untruth because after they came to the U.S., they couldn't go to the local Catholic Church for some reason (the story of why honestly never made any sense) so when Los Testigos showed up at the door, my abuelita let them study with my mom and her siblings so they'd at least have some sort of religious education... And... After my mom and all her siblings and cousins that immigrated with them converted, they kept hounding my abuelita until she finally caved and converted. And she was a true believer until she died. Like you said, those old-timers were built different. She was regular in the ministry all the way up until the end. The last conversation I had with her was her saying «Mijo, you have to go back to the meetings. Think of what your mother would have wanted. ¿Don't you want to see your mother again in the NewSystem™?» 🙄 I loved my grandmother, but the cult was the only thing she and my aunts and uncles focused on. Everything else was secondary.

You also can't have the New Testament without the moral problems of the Old Testament, which includes rules for selling your children as slaves, (including as concubines, a.k.a. sex slaves), and rules for how to properly engage in ethnic cleansing & racial discrimination or stone gay people to death. I'm not trying to be rude, just explaining why regardless of the JWs, I can never be a Christian.

At least other Christian denominations say that EVERY member of the religion is going to Heaven and sit with God. Only 144 thousand people (among who the Governing Body counts themselves) going to heaven when your religion numbers in the millions sound very culty.

When I was teen I had to stay with an elderly sister and my mom because we had to move out and my dad and siblings had left and moved out but I was too young to and we didn't have anywhere to live. And that sister was adamant I had stolen her jewelry. I never even saw it! I was too afraid to leave her living room. I was scared to use her bathroom. I was secretly in a lesbian relationship. I hated it. I could've lived with my girlfriend but my mom didn't want me to for some reason she thought it was better to live together in that woman's tiny apartment and you could tell she was pissed off. I think honestly mom took her jewelry to pawn it because we were poor. I hated this religion. We'd go to big conventions and pretend my girlfriend cared and just make out in the bathrooms for hours whenever no one came in. 😂

We took in a refugee family from Ukraine when the war started. They decided to leave the cult before leavingand we had no idea until they arrived. They said war is proof there is no god.

@@neverperching1554 I would make the "If God real, why bad things happen" point because suffering things will still happen regardless if you're Christian or not. Even Jesus warned his followers that suffering will happen until he makes his return and Christian will suffer for simply being Christian. That being said, this might sound like a different cult because JWs do put an emphasis on "armageddon" and "the great tribulation", which are different ways of saying the rapture. They do say that everyone's gonna suffer a lot more around there but only JWs will be saved. Though I can't blame that Ukrainian family for feeling that way

Unfortunately, years ago the GB said that they had done all the necessary research, so I guess the 🐑el just follow along and believe them. (Even tho none of them were Greek scholars). People follow the crowd and not be critical 🤔 thinkers. I was practically born in and wasn't either till I was out of the parental home for a few years. The definition of "blunder": "a stupid or careless mistake."
Note that both the spelling and pronunciation are a stupid mistake, a blunder, according to this Bible that Watchtower publishes.

That’s a really good point you make, the lacks of retirement and funds older generation jws are left to live on.
For the leaders to insert themselves in someone’s financial future (then not help out when there’s a lack) - the leaders recommending this should have to live the impoverished life they are willing to put on their followers. Not living in their bunker with three meals served every day and someone cleaning their room and laundry. Hell no. Live on the funds your rank and file live on because of no education and career.

I was in Vegas for the SUPER BOWL and saw born-agains screaming at people on the sidewalk you're going to hell over and over again, now that's DISTURBING
So one day i was looking at the article and i decided to mark every word or phrase that was meant to shape the way i think instead of encourage me to think. It was about 60% or each paragraph. By taking interest in marketing i learned that the industry likes to use words that envoke emotions to make you buy. And in the articles i've found they use lots and lots of emotional words used to sway you towards or against certain behaviours.
I have a shepherding question: What happens to the sheep in the end? Don't they all get EATEN???

JWs were actually out & about yesterday & stopped by. I didn't tell them I was once a JW until I faded away before the pandemic. But I did tell them that I hadn't seen them anywhere since then.
I didn't recognize any of them.
I wondered if this territory was passed to a neighboring congregation. They were dressed so casually like in the videos. No suits & only 1 of the 3 had a tie on. They could be walking a dog in the park. Not like it was when I was sweating to death in long skirts & sweaters covering everything.

The name's Pavlo, not Pablo. Yes, it's the Ukrainian for Paul. As for the video, it's complete nonsense. As a witness of the evacuation I can tell you that women had no problem in leaving the country. And a lot of men were exempt from the draft too. What's more, in the initial phase the refugees were accepted without any documents. Of course, some people are upset because of people who flee the country while they're fighting and dying, but it's never been the official policy.

I seriously cringed when the JW cancer patient was preaching to the nurse! My aunt, who is an RN, my little sister, who is an MD, and several friends who work in the medical field have had JW patients try to preach to them, plus have to wrangle with the HLC when blood transfusions are refused-common with my sister. Believe me, it’s a hot mess! I also cringed on the JW version of the 23rd Psalm-I just hate the words “loyal love”! Why would they replace those words for “mercy”? What do they find offensive about “mercy”? Those cretins just don’t make any sense!

I was not raised a JW or ever was one so the culture of it is new to me. My husband was raised as one and hates his upbringing. When I watch these videos of their speeches and media and I can’t help but to just focus on their language and tone. They speak so condescendingly and infantilize their members. Like their inflection and how they ask their questions comes off so weird. It turns me off. How do people sit through these with a smile for hours and not catch they they’re literally talking to you like children. They just eat it all up. So weird.
Myself, I believe if you cringe you should win, not lose. Those who should lose are those who cannot get through these videos without cringing. Myself I lost it on the first mention of "bosom" with a closeup of his suit. Given their CSA history, they really shouldn't be broadcasting closeups of the chests of those in leadership.
