My ALIENWARE R8 PC indicated that I needed to run a diagnostic test. The test also showed that I needed to install updates. I selected the install all updates. After doing the updates, I saw my BIOS update didn't install. I called support to report my situation and was asked to allow the support person to have control of my PC, which I allowed. So apparently you cannot update to the newest bios straight from a older one if anyone else is having issues with that like i did try installing them in order of date
So im going to be doing this soon on my Gigabyte B550M DS3H and i currently am running a R5 2600 and going to be adding a R5 5600X, just wondering if there’ll be any complications once i update the BIOS afterwards? Should i just turn the pc off then replace the older cpu or not? Advice in general would be appreciated
It would depend on if your current BIOS version supports your new CPU. If you current BIOS version supports your new CPU then I would change the CPU to the new on before doing the BIOS update. This is so that you can see that the CPU is working. And in the event that there is something wrong with it you can easily go back to your old CPU without having to try to down grade your BIOS version back if required. However, if your new CPU isn't supported on your current BIOS version, but is on a new version. Then you will need to do the BIOS update with the old CPU installed, and then once the BIOS update is done you will then need to install your new CPU. As for complications the only major thing is that you check that the BIOS version you are updating to supports the CPU you are going to be using. So you want to carefully read the CPU support list to ensure that the BIOS version does support the CPU.
Hi bro u made this a year ago and all that but i have a gigabyte ga-z170x-gaming 7-oc and i cant for the love of god find a q flash option in my bios can you mby help?
I’m trying to update my bios but in the bios menu when I try to install it it just says “invalid BIOS image”? What do I do from here? EDIT:I figured it out because my Bios was such an older version I needed to update to F32 first in order to get to F60
What year was the version you used to be on and what year was the newest one? I haven’t updated my motherboard in 4 years so i don’t know if i need to update the recent ones first
It is possible that it might help, depends on what changes we're made to the updated BIOS. It is especially true that newer BIOS versions usually have better RAM type and speed support.
you didn t said if it s a problem if you keep the usb in pc while entering bios, like i m gonna plug the usb copy the file then i m gonna unplug the usb and when i enter bios i plug the usb??
So your instructions were great, but no matter what I do, q-flash tells me that it either can't read the file, or it's an invalid file. Do i need to unzip/unpack the contents of the downloaded bios update file or just keep it on disk as it was when I downloaded it?
@@BeauSchutz-z8i As far as I am aware you want the files to be unziped, which dragging them from within the zip file to the USB should do. If it is saying that the file is invalid it is most likely that the file you have isn't for your exact motherboard model. I would just double check that you have the correct motherboard model and revision selected when downloading.
I’m not sure what part I’m not doing correctly but when I click update bios I don’t see anything on the right side opposite system volume information ?
So i got the a small problem which i just dont understand i got the gigabyte b650 gaming x ax and when i start my pc he always wants me to press the key N otherwise the pc wont start is there anyway to turn this off?
When I download the bios update the zip file has 3 files, a folder with another folder within, and inside that two more files, one of those files is a PDF, should I be picking a specific file or just throwing everything in?
Usually you can just put all of the files on the USB and the BIOS should only display the BIOS update file when selecting the file to flash. However, I would suggest checking that the files are first. For example, if it is a PDF then it quite likely could be instructions.
possibly a stupid question. in my motherboard (b450 aorus elite v2) i need a bios version f61 for my ryzen7 5800x3d that i am gonna be installing. my question is can i flash my motherboard on a later bios version like f65 instead of the older f61 and would i run on any issues or would that be better for my system.
The important thing when figuring out what BIOS version a CPU is supported on is to look at the title of the column in the table. For example, if the column says supported since. Then that means that the CPU is supported in that version and any newer ones. However, if the column says supported up to. Then that means that the CPU is supported up to that version and no newer. From having a quick look at the CPU support list for your motherboard. The 5800x3D has been supported since BIOS version F61. So the 5800x3D should work on the latest BIOS version that is currently F66c. Going with F66c is probably highly advisable as many of the updates since F61 appear to be important security fixes.
(i have a gigabyte b550 aorus pro ac) ok so when i get to the bios flash it has 4 options for flashing and all of them say “unknown device” and i clicked through all of them and none of them are the right one. i tried with 2 different usb’s and same result. and yes i plugged it into the right usb slot. the usb is just under 32gb so i dont think that is the issue. it’s formatted to FAT32. i have flashed my bios before with the same usb and had no issues at all. any suggestions?
worked well, game me a heart attack when my pc restarted about 8 times after but worked. now fingers crossed it fixes the issue i have had for a year, i noticed my bios has been removed from there list..... hopefully its a bad one and now im sorted.
Great video! Unfortunately as i followed the steps up to update BIOS i dont see my formatted USB stick and worse, i dont see any except for a "A:Verbatim" option. In your video i could see your SSDs as well? Is there something wrong with my motherboard that it doesnt let me see other options?
Some times they don't make it very easy to use the file explorer in BIOS's. If you haven't already the only thing I can think to suggest is trying it in all of the USB ports, as some motherboard have a specific USB port that you need to have to USB in for it to be detected.
I get a Id check error every time. I double checked if i got the right bios for my motherboard. it is indeed the right one with the newest intel microcode patch. but it wond let me install the update. maybe bc my bios version rn is from 2022 and i need to install a previous one first?
Am i able to have a friend download the bios onto a usb then put it into my computer on first startup to flash the motherboard as 14th gen cpu's arent supported. Do you install windows then enter bios or do you enter bios before installing windows?

Do we have to do incremental or jump directly to latest?
I havent updated since F50
Unless it specifies otherwise, you can jump straight to the latest version.
worked well, game me a heart attack when my pc restarted about 8 times after but worked. now fingers crossed it fixes the issue i have had for a year, i noticed my bios has been removed from there list..... hopefully its a bad one and now im sorted.
Thanks brother, finally my mb updated to resizable bar
No problem my friend, happy to help.
Thank u so much bro this helped out a lot ❤
No problem my friend, glad I could help.
This helped me alot thank u🙏🙌🏼
No problem, glad I could help.
I get a Id check error every time. I double checked if i got the right bios for my motherboard. it is indeed the right one with the newest intel microcode patch. but it wond let me install the update. maybe bc my bios version rn is from 2022 and i need to install a previous one first?
When I booted up into BIOS I didn't see the option to select the UEFI Firmware Settings to continue. Didn't know if anyone had any advice!
thankyou so much!!! love from India!!
No problem my friend, glad I could help.
Am i able to have a friend download the bios onto a usb then put it into my computer on first startup to flash the motherboard as 14th gen cpu's arent supported. Do you install windows then enter bios or do you enter bios before installing windows?
