How to update Gigabyte motherboard BIOS

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ส.ค. 2024
- Hey guy's R4GE VipeRzZ here, and today I'm going to show you how can update your BIOS on a Gigabyte motherboard.
In order to do this we will need a USB storage device that can be used to store the BIOS update files. To update the BIOS we will transfer the files to the USB, booting into the BIOS, and then install the new BIOS through Q-Flash.
The motherboard used in this video is the Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX V2.
I have been searching for the last two days on why my HHD had disappeared on me and had no luck until finding this video. This video was a life saver and I cannot thank you enough for making it! Absolute legend
Glad you liked the video and was able to solve your problem.
This video is a god send. No bs and thanks for explaining everything, even additional steps, simple and easy
Thank you, great to hear that you found the video helpful.
Thank you so much for this very simple and detailed video. I didn’t know my bios hasn’t been updated since 2021 lol.
I was behind a couple updates. Everything worked out fine thanks to you good sir!
No problem my friend, glad that you liked the video and now have a newer more up to date BIOS.
Like all the previous comments have stated - a really simple, informative and no bs video. Following this guide was much easier to comprehend than the overly perplexing PDF manual Gigabyte included in their update file. Thanks a lot!
Thank you, glad I could help.
@@R4GEVipeRzZ why mine said invalid bios?
@@fendysusanto876 That usually means that the BIOS you are trying to install isn't for your specific motherboard model and revision number.
@@R4GEVipeRzZ it's the correct model.
I already found the solution in Reddit.
The problem was my BIOS is too old (f5) and to be able to update to the recent BIOS i must update it to f32 and then f40, after that i can go straight to the most recent
This is one of the most constructive video for updating bios. Keep up the good work man. Subbed 👍🏻
Thank you my friend, glad you liked the video.
Thanks. It works great! This video saved me the hassle of creating a bootable FAT32 USB and then rebooting from that USB.
Great to hear it worked for you, glad I could help.
Best and most clear bios update video I've yet seen. Thanks!
Thanks, glad you liked the video.
Thank you so much for your video. Very clear and straightforward. I never knew my motherboard version was stamped on the board itself! Won't forget that tip thank you!
Great to hear you liked the video, glad I could help.
first time i’ve ever updated bios, this was an easy to follow guide that walks you thru on every minute detail in the update process (that part about formatting to fat32 probs saved me). Thanks for the help! PS: watch the entire video before starting don’t just follow along step by step
Had to flash my bios, your video is truly as helping as well made, thanks a lot man
No problem my friend, happy to help.
i was scared because i never did that and my english is not good, but it was so easy because u tell us so clearly what do to and what info´s to look for. great video! thanks alot man
Thank you it's great to hear that you liked the video and found it easy to follow, glad I could help. And well done for learning English, your English seems pretty good to me.
very helpful video. i wouldn't have thought about the dedicated port w/o watching this
No problem, glad you liked the video.
Very clear and concise tutorial thank you. I watched a few other ones but yours was the best! I did everything as you instructed and it went flawlessly! Thx again and best of wishes to you!
Absolute life saver, couldn't of walked through it any better. Most helpful video ever
Thank you for your comment, glad you liked the video.
Couldn't agree more, did Gigabyte actually expect me to do that on my own lol
Mulțumesc din inimă! Am urmat pas cu pas indicațiile dumneavoastră și a funcționat perfect. Mulțumeeesc!!!!
Nicio problemă prietene, mă bucur că ți-a plăcut videoclipul.
Awesome video man, im glad you explained it so well, before watching this I was scared to mess something up in my pc but now it doesn't seem scary at all. Hopefully this helps some audio issues I've been having lately.
Extremely helpful, thorough, and easy to understand. Thanks for the help
Great to hear, glad I could help.
Just built my first gaming computer and this helped immensely! Thank you! 🎉
Bro thankyou so much i updated my bios from f11 to f14a and it worked smooth you need a noble prize
Thank you, great to hear, glad I could help.
First time I've had to do this, can't thank you enough for this video brother ❤
And now I cannot unhear MotherBod. On a side note my work buddy is trying to update his Bios but when I does, the screen stays blank and has no Input to the monitor and when he reboots for awhile the bios is not updated, but at least he is getting back into windows.
me tooo... MOTHERBODDD///
Right onto the MOTHABODDD
Yea I'm having the same exact problem. Have you found a fix yet?
@@nyankat9268 Im not sure, he doesnt work here anymore : < was almost a year ago .
Beautiful guide! Well explained, I'll also share it on my channel for my motherboard 🤩
Thank you, glad I could help.
Thank you so much for this step by step guide
Followed your video and it worked flawlessly! Thank you
Great to hear, glad I could help.
Beautiful instructions! Thanks so much for making it all so clear and precise. I've subscribed and am now going to flash my bios. thanks again
So your instructions were great, but no matter what I do, q-flash tells me that it either can't read the file, or it's an invalid file. Do i need to unzip/unpack the contents of the downloaded bios update file or just keep it on disk as it was when I downloaded it?
@@user-rh5hv8ge9o As far as I am aware you want the files to be unziped, which dragging them from within the zip file to the USB should do.
If it is saying that the file is invalid it is most likely that the file you have isn't for your exact motherboard model. I would just double check that you have the correct motherboard model and revision selected when downloading.
Thank you so much man this helped me so much I was terrified
Dude... THANKYOU for this video. This has been INCREDIBLY helpful. Thankyou.
No problem my friend, glad I could help.
Thanks for this. Im upgrading to a 5800x3d from a 5600x. I always get a little nervous flashing bios so I watched your video as a refresher & now I'm ready to drop that cpu in. good stuff
Have fun, glad I could help.
Hi there same stuff here , how did it go ? Did you install the newest bios version directly ? Or did you have to install older versions before installing latest ? Ah and was the upgrade worth it ? I’m doing it cause I have a 3080 and I’m pretty sure I’m cpu bounded having a 5600x and not using my 3080 at its fullest
Great tutorial! Very informative and simple. Thank you
An extremely good video that did not push any panic buttons…. Nice and calm
Thanks a ton for this! A little rusty on my Windows practice and couldn't remember how to get my thumb drive to FAT32
Fantastic video. Thank you so much for this very informative video. Everything worked perfectly!
Thank you, glad you liked the video.
Do we even need to use an USB drive for this? Because I see my drives in Q Flash as well.
Quick and easy to follow. Thanks man!
Thanks, glad I could help.
Thanks for the video! Easy to follow and timestamps make it easier.
Gonna refer back after work when i update from version f51 to the latest.
Switching from 3400g to a 5700x cpu in my wife's pc.
No problem mate, happy to help.
FYI, my gigabyte board (Z790 Aurus Elite AX rev1) resets the bios to factory default after a BIOS update. Not only that, it completely clears all the saved profiles! Super important, save your profiles to a USB stick prior to updating the bios, otherwise you need to re-do your whole configuration! Learned this the hard way.
Thank you so well made and explained
Great video, but what do I do with that usb drive after updating the bios? Format it?
So i got the a small problem which i just dont understand i got the gigabyte b650 gaming x ax and when i start my pc he always wants me to press the key N otherwise the pc wont start is there anyway to turn this off?
Thanks my dude. I would have done the wrong motherboard version number if I didn't watch your video.
Doing god's work one bios update at a time... thanks for the tutorial!!
Haha, thanks, glad I could help.
Am i able to have a friend download the bios onto a usb then put it into my computer on first startup to flash the motherboard as 14th gen cpu's arent supported. Do you install windows then enter bios or do you enter bios before installing windows?
Thank you for this video. No help easier done than this one. Thank you!
No problem, glad I could help.
thank you for teaching me how to update the bios of my modaboaad!
No problem, happy to help.
Bro TYVM just updated since 2015. You made my life easier....🎉
No problem mate, glad I could help.
thank youuuuu, i've done update BIOS for my custom PC
I’m not sure what part I’m not doing correctly but when I click update bios I don’t see anything on the right side opposite system volume information ?
Instructions are very well simplified! thank you!
Thank you, glad you liked the video.
Bro, you need to do audiobooks or something. Awesome video, I needed to make sure I wasn't gonna screw up my mobo when I did this lol easy follow. Flashed quick and easy.
Thank you, glad you liked the video. Don't think my voice would be able to hold up for an audio book though.
THANKYOU!
I had to update it to F32 first on mine for install compatibility with the more recent versions, but to install that version also had to install a new EC firmware to install f32
Glad you liked the video, happy to help.
Thank you, worked flawlessly.
Great to hear, glad it worked for you.
do I need to reformat pc or I can do it with all the files I have such as games etc
Great vid! Thank you!
Thank u so much bro this helped out a lot ❤
No problem my friend, glad I could help.
My ALIENWARE R8 PC indicated that I needed to run a diagnostic test. The test also showed that I needed to install updates. I selected the install all updates. After doing the updates, I saw my BIOS update didn't install. I called support to report my situation and was asked to allow the support person to have control of my PC, which I allowed. After a few minutes, I was informed that my BIOS was too OUTDATED to allow the latest BIOS to be installed. All updates newer than mine needed to be installed one at a time, in ascending order, until the newest one was installed. Thanks to this help, my PC now had the latest BIOS installed. I hope my comment helps anyone who has run into this situation.
Legend for a reason thx uuu 😭😭😭😭
I am trying to update......after 1 year finally....
No problem, happy to help.
@@R4GEVipeRzZmy PC's performance improved a lot
this is so cool I upgraded my bios from like F3 to F9 and this technique is so cool. The hold down shift to reset allowed it to work. I tried the del button technique but that didn't recognise the USB properly. thanks a bunch, my bios friend.
Awesome explanations, exactly what I needed.
Thank you, glad I could help.
how do you do the partition part on WINDOWS 11, its already fat32
Hello There thanks for the video. I have a question. when I extracted the folder with the Bios update I have some extra files there including an PDF with instructions the other files are : Efiflash.efi, flash.nsh. I also have the B560DS3HACY1.F9 ( I Believe that is the lastest Bios Update file for me my Mother Board) and I have a folder named EFI that have another folder in in it named BOOT with a BOOTX64.EFI file and another file named start up.nsh. my question really is I need to extract all into my USB correct? Not only the B560DS3HACY11.F9 file. cause in your video demostration you only had that singular file. Thanks in advance.
Hi bro u made this a year ago and all that but i have a gigabyte ga-z170x-gaming 7-oc and i cant for the love of god find a q flash option in my bios can you mby help?
When I booted up into BIOS I didn't see the option to select the UEFI Firmware Settings to continue. Didn't know if anyone had any advice!
thankyou so much!!! love from India!!
No problem my friend, glad I could help.
Thanks ! Worked perfectly for me
Awesome video! Thank you so much!!!
I downloaded the update file and used a flash drive to update the bios. I have a Z690 Aorus Master motherboard and I haven't updated the bios since I installed it.
My pc is reeboting rn, as I type, its ok its 5th reboot…. Wait, something is loading as I type, YES, it worked, you are amazing, earned a like, sub and a comment, the least I could do for you man!!!
Thank you, great to hear that it worked for you.
It fixed all of my issues that I had :))))@@R4GEVipeRzZ
When I download the bios update the zip file has 3 files, a folder with another folder within, and inside that two more files, one of those files is a PDF, should I be picking a specific file or just throwing everything in?
Usually you can just put all of the files on the USB and the BIOS should only display the BIOS update file when selecting the file to flash. However, I would suggest checking that the files are first. For example, if it is a PDF then it quite likely could be instructions.
Do we only need the 1 file, or all of them?
Thank you, you save me a lot of money 😇
This helped me alot thank u🙏🙌🏼
No problem, glad I could help.
Any reason why I keep getting BIOS ID check error?
Super helpful thank you so much 😊
No problem, glad I could help.
Thanks man, helped me a lot
No problem, happy to help.
Amazing vid helped a ton!
Thanks, glad you liked the video.
A very roboting voice but the best clean explanation how to do. Cudo top thanks😃👍
i have b660 ds3h ac ddr4 y1 but my rev is 1.0 the thing is its not showing what rev the update is
Does cpu clock speed also reset or does it stay the same
if my bios update us an application it’s is the same steps because i’m not allowed to open the application in bios
Very helpful, thanks a lot 😊
No problem, happy to help.
Thanks brother, finally my mb updated to resizable bar
No problem my friend, happy to help.
Great tip on the 32gb partition!
Thank you.
im getting invalid bio image error >< ugh any help? i put the specific motherboard i have in the search and everything
When I need to select the usb in the bio it won’t show up and all of the options say unknown device
U saved me man I appreciate you so much thank you
No problem my friend, glad I could help.
when i download it it downloads me a lot of files and it doesnt wrok help
It cant read the file is says I am on 999 mb the file fitted in the usb I formatted it into Fat32 but when i try do it it doesnt work
If you cant find qflash click f1 on keyboard it will give you options. Or just click f8 because f8 is generally the one.
Excellent video
Can I skip all the previous bios from F5 to F8?
Super helpful holy sh*t thank you!
I followed all the instruction but when updating bios I got "Invalid Bios Image"
I ejected the USB after you made the comment about making sure it was in the right port - it was originally in my disk reader USB port and then I inserted it into the back of my PC. As soon as I did that my PC just broke.
Okay by removing the USB it fixed it. Would make sure that you have your USB in the right port from the start!
Gigabyte website says to format the USB drive to NTFS... why is it FAT32 in this case?
if mine says N/A. will my pc not be able to run it?
Great video! Thanks for the help. Bless ya :D
Thanks, glad you liked the video.
Great video! Unfortunately as i followed the steps up to update BIOS i dont see my formatted USB stick and worse, i dont see any except for a "A:Verbatim" option. In your video i could see your SSDs as well? Is there something wrong with my motherboard that it doesnt let me see other options?
Some times they don't make it very easy to use the file explorer in BIOS's. If you haven't already the only thing I can think to suggest is trying it in all of the USB ports, as some motherboard have a specific USB port that you need to have to USB in for it to be detected.
Would this help performance? Because my 12700kf won’t reach 5.0ghz and I am on F8 bios gigabyte
It is possible that it might help, depends on what changes we're made to the updated BIOS. It is especially true that newer BIOS versions usually have better RAM type and speed support.
I needed this thanks a lot🎉
No problem, glad I could help.
My motherboard as of right now doesn’t support my CPU until I update it. Do I update my MB with the CPU installed or not installed?
depends on the MB, just check the manual
