**Correction - I used a Panasonic lens so the actual stabilization shown in the video was in-body stabilization only for Olympus. Which is even more impressive.

Yes - watched your setup video - very helpful. It’s been my everyday camera for running around with the kids because it’s so light and so great at photos. And it is my out and about video camera too - such a good value especially when you already have mft lenses. Thanks for the vids about it!! 👊👊

Great video Mark! Nice to see that you got a good deal on that body. I've been a long time Olympus OMD user with the EM5 I/II and EM1 I which are all awesome cameras in their own right. Just stumbled upon this video..must have missed it! I’ve been debating on the new OM5, but have just found a used OM1 MK2 on a post Boxing Day sale at a camera store for a very good price! Biggest draw on the OM5 is the small size for long hikes etc, but this is tempting!!! Also, Happy New Year! 🎉

Wow!. I use my EM1 Mkii as a webcam and it works great (4K). But based on your tests I need to use it for vlogging!! BTW, what lens were you using?
Oh it’s likely the best Vlog camera you can buy. I used the cheapest lens on have actually. The Panasonic 14-42 kit lens from my old g7. If you get an Olympus lens with stabilization - you’ll get even better results!!
Thanks for the video. Did you consider the Em5 miii? What lenses are you considering to pair with your Olympus? Is 12mm too tight?
The 12 mm 2.0 from Olympus would be my choice for VLog style video. It’s pretty wide on it’s own and if you get a little tripod that extends out - you can get some really wide selfie video. The Em5 is a great camera - super light and stylish, but the EM1 mark ii has pretty much everything the E5 has and it has 2 card slots and is a bit of a better build. The thing that made me choose the EM1 mark ii is that because the camera is a few years old, you can get it for cheaper second hand (and even brand new). Oh and I don’t think the Em5 has OM-Log - which I am using

great video and im glad we agree on stabilization. i dont get why sony doesnt improve their stabilization and other youtubers promote it as vlogging camera, the only under $1000 useable sony vlogging camera is the zv1. even that isnt great just useable. im likely getting the zve10 soon tho, for tripod static video. good video keep it up!.
I am surprised as well that stabilization is not a bigger issue for most TH-camrs. I find shaky video very hard to watch. If I ever use the ZV-E10 off a tripod, I will definitely use Catalyst Browse
While I'm waiting for the gh6 release I'm searching for a camera for a b-cam that's video/gimbal friendly. I enjoyed your review of the sony zv cameras and was on my way to purchase until... I came across the olympus e 1 mark ii. When I read the reviews and viewed the olympus website. I got excited not only because I found a solid camera for the low.. The upcoming releases from olympus proves they're not leaving the micro four thirds segment. Appreciate your reviews. Enjoy your Omd E 1 Mark II .
The Olympus is a great camera. the video features aren’t as great, no zebras, less dynamic range, spilts files into 4gb chunks and doesn’t have unlimited recording. BUT a killer camera other than that. severely underrated.

the em1 mark ii is weather sealed, but the sony is not. The sony will be a lot better in lowlight

just because there’s always a chance you might mess up your camera. it certainly voids any kind of warranty. but it’s a risk that lots of people are willing to take.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis i hear you there. Injust wish olympus would have fixed that in a firmware. I'm loving this camera from the reviews and the recording limit was my only deal breaker. Once it gets to me, warranty doesn't really matter especially if I get good units. Knowing there's a way to give it the record longer than 30minute option is a risk I'd probably be willing to take. But I definitely hear you there. Its something I'd have to study and see before I even try.

You can get great footage out of the EM1, but the ZV-E10 has more video features for sure.

So, I am stand-up comedian and I am trying to record all my gigs. Currently I am using an old Olympus em10 mark ii with hacked firmware (I can record 52 minutes of SF quality) but I am considering an upgrade.
Can you suggest me what should I upgrade to:
- GH5 - unlimited recording, can use it for vlogs in future, already invested in MFT lenses
- Olympus em 1 mark II - firmware can be hacked for 2h+ record time, great stabilization for future vlogs, already invested in MFT lenses
- Sony a7SII - As i know it can be hacked for no record limit, Great in low light scenarios, 50 1.8 is quite cheap
Any other suggestions are welcomed. Listed cameras are just what I am searching for second hand. Budget is around 800-900 eur and this is the reason why I don't consider gh5s
Haha - yes. I remember from another video where you commented. I certainly know a thing or two about trying to record at comedy clubs. The truth is that you don’t need lowlight for the stage at all. The lowlight comes into play before or after the show in the green room or something like that. If you plan to shoot in lowlight, the A7Sii would work, but it’s autofocus isn’t great so you’d have to manually focus. The Sony cameras are not as easy to use for video and their stabilization is terrible (except the a7s3) if you’re handholding. But if on a tripod, the a6400 is a good option although it’s apsc. Pretty good in lowlight and has perfect autofocus and unlimited recording time. But if you already have MFT lenses, I would look at the GH5 and EM1 Mark ii. And the decision there is clear - if you are happy manually focusing - GH5 all the way. It’s just by far the best video camera you can get in that price range. Easy to use, great button layout, 10-bit image - it’s my favourite. But I always manually focus at gigs. Now if you want your camera to be able to autofocus, have great ergonomics and and take amazing photos, I would do the EM1 mark ii. But the problem with the em1 is that it’ll split the files up in 4 minute chucks and has a record limit. I don’t know if your hacked firmware can fix both those issues. Basically, in a nut shell, I use the GH5 at standup gigs and I am very happy. When the gig is just a random show, I will actually pull out the camcorder Sony AX53. I actually did a video about it on my standup channel.

Also, don’t forget about the G85 - it’s a really good price, no record limit, doesn’t spilt clips, great stabilization, and has a similar image to the GH5. It has no 10-bit and no vlog and you definitely need to manual focus though.

Regarding g85, it's close to impossible to find it in Eastern Europe (we have g80 which has the recording limit). In the end I feel like going and understanding gh5 will help me a lot in future.
Last question, I am considering buying Sigma 18-35 with viltrox speedbooster after the purchase of gh5. Is it a good buy and which lense do you use most for recording your gigs
@@Hrumpy People love that sigma lens with a speed booster, but for me, I much prefer the size and weight of the native lenses. I would look at the Panasonic 12-35 2.8. Great quality and native lenses work better overall with the camera and is wayyyy lighter. You won’t get as shallow depth of field, and won’t be as good in lowlight situations, but with video work of comics on stage, the Panny 2.8 MFT works well.
p.s. It would be nice to see a comparison of Olympus vs smartphones in low light. I would like to know whether Olympus can beat smartphones in any situation.

Still they Have really gotten better over time..However, One Fact That Leaves Cell Phones Truly Non-Comparable IS= The Size Of Their Super Tiny Sensor, ..= Almost Microscopic in Size :- =About the Size of a Pencil Eraser,
=Thats Approxly 1/10th The Size Of a Micro 4/3rds Sensor,
Then how About a Standard Entry Level DSLR's Camera Like The =Canon Rebel Sensor which is Approx 30X Larger Then Cell Phone Sensor(& Then There's The Pro Full Frame Camera Sensor Which Are About 70X Bigger Then The Cell Phone Sensor🙂
I would go with Olympus but they don't have 23.98 fps only 24 fps. Unless they have done a firmware upgrade on that. Too bad, I think better cameras and lens than Panasonic.
It’s not clear in the spec sheets, but Olympus actually shoots at 23.98 fps unless shooting in C4K.

Yes, that was an error on my part - the Olympus can have dual stab with a compatible stabilized lens from Olympus. In this test, the only, the Olympus body was doing its stabilization only.
Panasonic stabilized lenses do not work with Oly ibis. They can’t communicate.The em1 II is an iconic camera in the Olympus line up.
You’re right - which makes the stabilization in the body of Olympus all the more impressive. Because in the video - the GH5 was using dual IS and Olympus was only using in-body. Gotta go get an Olympus stabilized lens and redo!! I pinned a correction. Thanks.
