Tom your giving me the bug. We use to raise and race birds like yours, but that was years ago with my Dad. Our lofts name was Skyloft. I still have some trophies up in my attic somewhere lol. It was a Great time, my Dad taught me all about how the sport went. I just always had animals growing up on 3 acres on Staten Island,N.Y. I remember putting out tobacco stems for the breeders to build their nests, cod liver oil in an eye dropper for each bird, getting the bands on the babies before they got too big and constantly checking to see that they didn't kick it off, all those memories. But watching your videos is Terrific! Thank you for that. Alex from Central NJ.
Pulled up to my house yesterday and had a pair of Cooper’s hawks circling my loft… I’m sure they were watching birds in the settling cages. It’s definitely that time of year!
I was always told that hawks are feeding their young at this time of year. They are vicious. It seems like if you have pigeons you have hawks..good luck sir
It works great. If I was gogin to do it again I would go with a batting cage like Danza Loft's, but I would use it the way I do with the tunnel and not as a settling cage. Good luck!
I had 3 birds attacked in the same weekend last weekend. Got all 3 birds back and one was an old bird from last years team. I’m dealing with an experienced female Cooper’s hawk. She’s the sneakiest hawk I’ve seen so far. If I wasn’t out there 2/3 would be dead for sure. All 3 birds will be fine but one will need some time to recover. I swear my net is the reason I didn’t lose all my young birds the first time I let them. I let 24 out with no net for the first time and she attacked 7 minutes in and grabbed one. I had 16 trap back in that day and 5 return the next day including the one the hawk grabbed. Lost 3 I just never saw again so likely eaten hiding in a tree. It’s Hawk university right now out here.
The Cooper's seem to be bad everywhere this year. I had my first hawk kill in '89 and this may he the worst year I've seen for them. I have no Rollers left flying at all and I'm only road working my racers. In spite of this, I've still got at least two Cooper's buzzing the lofts daily. They're not eating here, but they remain active daily.

Very nice update. Can’t wait to see the group loft flying. It gets me pumped to get out in the yard and work with my young birds. 😁
You and me both! I just want to get them all on the same page. Still waiting on a few more birds...

Looking good!!!! My team will be shipped to you very soon here!!! Hopefully it’ll be able to learn fast and keep up.
Can't wait!
I'm really liking your ramp method. I think I'll be figuring a way to implement that.

Why don’t you take any measures to deter the hawk away from loft?
Maybe a topic for a future video, but in short answer, I am more interested in conditioning the birds to be flying or in the loft
