This video really helped me to deal with my anxiety today, the sound of the forest, the water, the tools, everything is so calming, you are really talented!
It's so cool to me how people just figured out all this stuff at some point. They saw what was around them and through observation, trial and error, and intuition, found creative ways to use them to make life better. It sort of comforts me on a lot of levels to think that, really, the tools and materials are there, and if you listen to yourself, learn from your surroundings, and make an effort, you can learn how to use them to do awesome things.
Without modern tools they did all that, it's pretty crazy, we have lost touch with our wild survival side and our ancestors' ways, most would hardly survive in a jungle
My cousins and I made a hut in the Australian bush when we were little. Aussie bush is a lot more unforgiving but if we had this man's skills we could have made anything.
@@c4onmylip I think he means more in the straight up sense. Central Australian bush the ground is incredibly tough and vegetation suitable for this kind of construction very sparse.
@Scythe 100%. Even just simple things like lighting fires is so much harder with native Australian timbers, especially in the rain like this video. I always laugh watching bushcraft videos from Europe and North America where they set "thick" batons of kindling, that would never work here in Australia.
@@c4onmylip different places have different environments and weather types. Not everywhere is the same and trust me Australian bush, not in all cases but most, can be a lot worse than typical American/European bush dude
This is so nostalgic for me, this is the kind of stuff we did when we were kids in the 80s; building forts using the stuff in the woods, digging out holes to make the space bigger. I grew up in Alaska where we have nothing to play w/ but rocks and sticks lol
Dude, I remember doing things like this when I was younger (Born 1997) kids now prefer to just stay inside on their computers and play games, I understand I am on one now with this message but I try to limit my usage
I remember too but tree houses for me above the earth up in the branches of the trees, safer, and you get much nicer views too, and the fresh breeze. If I was to build something like that, something like Lothlorien like we see in Lord of the Rings would be my dream
The fact that this video is still a month old yet it already gathered so much views. It just proves that “we” individuals are always gonna be amazed about nature. @@AydinProductionsLtd Yes, I think so. Most people are always mesmerized by stuffs like that so maybe your vid will gain attention as well. Good luck!!
I could imagine a great home in nature, I'm absolutely thrilled how he managed to build it. My greatest respect, it has become absolutely amazing. To be in harmony with nature is the greatest gift.
Consider placing 4 rocks at each corner on chimney then set a large rock slab to prevent rain from dousing your fire. Consider having a drainage trench to route rain water out of dugout. My Uncle taught us as young lads, several decades ago, how to build a field expedient shelter. He was an Infantryman NCO in WWII. Had the wounds and trench foot damage to prove it. Taught us young lads Basic Infantry skills We all were Boy Scouts. And Hunters. Your dugout is the Best I have seen. Merry Christmas. Best
@Faynee93 Those were the exact 2 things I was gonna suggest. Especially the trench uphill. A fire can be remade, but when there is a downpour and your shelter is filled like an aquarium you're gonna be real sad.
I love watching people build these kind of things. So relaxing and fun to see how creative people get when they rely almost only on things they find around them
I was 8 years old when i first helped my grandfather to build this kind of shelter , during years we build 4 of this temporary shelters (we name them “bordei”, was a pleasure to see again how it’s done.

Consider placing 4 rocks at each corner on chimney then set a large rock slab to prevent rain from dousing your fire. Consider having a drainage trench to route rain water out of dugout. Taught us young lads Basic Infantry skills
