    Cool technique! For any Logic Pro users out there who might be wondering how to do this, it's actually really easy. Just load the same amount of Quick Samplers as the number of loops you have inside of Drum Machine Designer (Logic's equivalent of Live's Drum Racks), and then follow the same steps (draw in MIDI notes, etc). Remember to mute each Quick Sampler! Bonus tip, within Drum Machine Designer on each of the pads there's a small cog wheel on the bottom right, click on that and select Exclusive Group and set all of the pads to Group 1. This Exclusive Group is basically DMD's Choke group feature and it ensures that any overlapping MIDI notes will cut off each other and you won't get any overlaps.

      you know the guy uses white noise as a trigger? Well on that track, where you're drawing in the midi notes, you stick an arpegiator before the white noise sound which is loaded into the simpler. If you do this and play with the arpegiator settings it takes the gating process that step further.

    I would have put all loops on same audio channel, set loops to Legato, and triggered via midi controller; but this tutorial allows for more than one loop to play simultaneously. I never would have thought to do it this way. Excellent method, respect to the instructor.

    I cant get this to work properly. all 3 gate settings emulated, and classic mode on each simpler are the same. when the midi note ends the loop triggered doesn't immediately end. he doesn't go into detail on the gate parameters so any ideas what i'm doing wrong. cant figure it out?

    • @lorenzobuffa
      @lorenzobuffa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if you're still struggling with this, but I had the same as you and I figured the trick out. The length of the "Noise" clip and the length of the drum loop must be the same. So I guess if your drum loop is 4 bars then be sure your Noise clip will match that!

    The gate doesn't seem to slam shut fast enough after being triggered by the midi note. The sample plays quite a bit longer than the midi note. Is there a way to fix this cuz the new rearranged loops get quite messy. Great idea though.

    • @AbletonLiveschool
      @AbletonLiveschool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      64 simultaneous audio clips will always be challenging for cpu.
      Some things to try:
      Avoid complex or complex pro warp modes. Use beats or repitch instead.
      Deactivate Hi-Q on audio clips
      Set audio prefs to turn off unused inputs and outputs

The funny part is that I'm watching this video... 10 mins after complaining, for the 1000th time, about Live's absence of a proper comping (as it's available in Logic, DP...). That's the closest to the real deal... but hey Ableton devs, make it fluid and native as in other DAWs, PLEASE !

That works in a similar way to this and was the original inspiration. My version I have built to be 16 channels and and also use the Max for Live step sequencer for randomization.. If anyone's interested hit me up and I will send you a link to my template.. need Max for Live though for the sequencer bit.

    1. Slice each sample to MIDI.
    2. Place each sample slice in one drum rack.
    3. Now you can trigger each slice via MIDI as well as process each slice individually in the rack.
    4. Done.
    Why so complicated?

    • @AbletonLiveschool
