Scorn is an atmospheric first person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry. It is designed around an idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself. Every location contains its own theme (story), puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive lived in world. Throughout the game you will open up new areas, acquire different skill sets, weapons, various items and try to comprehend the sights presented to you.
GAMEPLAY FEATURES
-Cohesive “lived in” world - Scorn takes place in open-ended world with different interconnected regions. Each region is a maze like structure with various rooms and paths to discover. All the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing (throbbing, dripping) world you’re in. But keep your eyes open - the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels. Everything has a reason and purpose - you just need to work out what it is.
-Full body awareness - player will experience better immersion being aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic - objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just floating in midair), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls etc.
-No HUD - For a greater immersion into the world there is no HUD to assist the player. Everything is implied and indicated through environmental design.
-Inventory and ammo management - is defined and limited. It plays a big role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the whole game. Players will have to think about when to fight and when to take cover and how their actions affect the world around them. Different play styles will be needed to advance.

I hope the sounds at the beginning of the trailer can be heard in a more special place in the game, the "horns" that play in the background. They really add to the atmosphere !

Don't worry, no one does. It's the new "in" thing to do. Show the games visuals and slap a name on it before you even have a protagonist, antagonist, motive, or story.
It's certainly not new, and while we don't have the name of the protagonist and antagonist, they're definitely present in this video. The motive (at least here) is at least clearly to explore the twisted world and evade creatures lurking there, but I do wish we were clued in plot-wise, but that really doesn't matter to me, as I'm sure in due time that I will be able to get more information before I buy, even though I'm already sold.
Their website's claim its going to be the hardest open-ended world game.

Doom doesn't have competition. Aesthetically, it's similar, but it's dull. It uses a very washed out color scheme of mostly grey and flesh. This isn't early 2000, you can do better than that.
+Collin8843 Look at what I responded too and also realize that this dullness is the style of the game. Doom is not a horror game. It is a shooter game with a horror theme. This game looks much darker, much scarier and more fun. This looks like a more blurred version of Doom and by that I mean that the two aspects of Doom (horror and shooter) are more blurred together in this game. So I think that future installments of this game could interfere with sales of Doom especially if they add a more thought out multiplayer. Doom was fun for me and still is fun for a lot of people. However the multiplayer was dull and the story was confusing (at least for me).

HR Giger would love this game.
I would buy a good gaming PC just to play this game. It looks absolutely horrific and the concept is so unique. I used to play games a bunch until I had kids and now that they're getting old enough to handle themselves for the most part, I can find time to get back into gaming. Scorn has so much potential to live up to though and from what I've seen recently from other games that looked great but fell on their face after launch I'm really crossing my fingers that it doesn't go down the same path. Can't wait until more info comes out and I've already started saving the money to get a good gaming laptop and controller to play it on. Please don't fuck this up devs. You're not promising the moon but there's still the possibility of dropping this game in the garbage by releasing something that doesn't cut it.

It looks exactly like that other 'flesh castle' game coming out soon called Agony, except that one seemed more like the hide and evade kind of Amnesia style game, whereas this one shows zero happenings, apart from that weird flesh gun.
For me it seems like that an alien race has invaded earth, because their technology is based on morphing biomass into creations that can heal themselves when damaged. Their planet has run out of biomass and so they have invaded earth. The main character could be an alien that has turned against his race or a human that somehow survived the morphing process and now tries to save humanity.

Hmm... Although those designs are really cool, I don't remember magic ever being a part of the Dune universe. His overall design for the Harkonnens feels a bit extreme to me, compared to the source material. Harkonnens were known for being greedy, ruthless, amoral, and political tyrants. As cool as penis bridges and Magic death breathing skulls sound, that doesn't really sound Harkonnen, or even Dune to me. In the nerdiest terms possible, Harkonnens are lawful evil personified. While the director of that Dune movie was going for chaotic evil. I think giger would have been a better fit for the tleilaxu home world.

The trailer is pure artwork. Just cause is not a drawing in 2D dosnt means thats not artwork.
No, it was showcasing the atmosphere and environment, which the game seems entirely driven by. It's a horror/exploration FPS. The surroundings ARE the game.
Furthermore, I've found that those who accuse others of being '12' usually aren't the brightest souls. You know nothing about the person, so don't make assumptions, and especially not publicly. You look like a fool.

Cronenberg man... One of the truest legends of sci-fi IMO. VideoDrome is probably my all time fave by him but pretty much all of his "signature style shit" is true sci-fi imagination food! Its a shame he started making only "normal" movies after ExistenZ. He went from Shivers, Scanners, Drome, Naked Lunch, ExistenZ, Dead Ringers etc to normal thrillers like History of Violence, and (IMO) the extremely disappointing Eastern Promises. Crying shame...

My first step I've done after seeing this trailer was searching the internet for oleglym memory, long shadow watched the film. I typed the only thing I remembered but the atmosphere of the film "organic consoles," and it worked! I'm glad that others have noted the similarity between them :)

scorn seems more fleshy (like you said) and seems visually darker and focuses more on how the environment throbs. Agony is a more hellish landscape with demons and it's death system (from what I have seen) is very unique. I want both of these games regardless though.

Agony is like a fever dream or hellish nightmare, where Scorn is like being transported to an alien planet beyond human comprehension. Both similar, but unique in their own way.
Roy Scorn is much more subtle. I like Agony more, though
