Prototype actually really reminded me of the Venom gameplay from Ultimate Spiderman, a game that seemingly very few people played. Venom has the ability to eat people to heal, his limbs can change form (though it's more of a temporary thing and being tied to specific attacks as opposed to a true morph), he could run up walls, instead of web slinging he could leap really high into the air, he has an execution style grab, and can throw objects and people. Prototype, to me, always felt like a spiritual successor to that game specific as your goal as venom was to bring violence rather than actually break things.
Dude I loved this game, played this in 2010 and spent hundreds of hours. The amount of chaos you can do like elbow dropping a tank, hijacking it and slicing choppers, it got me so hooked

Prototype will always be, one of my favourite game of its time. Truly one of the most fun game I've ever played. I'd wish to see even a hint of it being brought back.
Ahhh, these games take me back....I ended up winning the Gamestop April pre-order sweepstakes for that year and took home the custom painted Camero. I even got Alex Mercers symbol tattooed on my shoulder to immortalize the moment. I really wish they did more with the series, but I'll always have the memories.
Using only armor and shield just running straight on the streets blowing human and vehicles away, musclemass punching people's body out of existence with normal attacks, prototype managed to make even the ordinary things fun.
I played this game when i was 10yrs old. One of the greatest game of my life that gives me unforgettable memories and this game becomes a part of my life... I lived each and every moment of my life in this game... still waiting for Prototype 3 since 13yrs
Why not mix them? You'll become a conduit that manipulates biomass and then gain all those fancy powers like a organic version of smoke dash where you transform into a flock of bats or birds instead and then refil your conduit powers by absorbing people
The one thing that I absolutely loved from the first game was the Military blotter that Mercer could hear when he was being hunted by special army units. And the destruction expenditure (at the end of a chapter) was a nice touch to make the player realize how much mayhem he caused that day.
Stranger of Paradise is proof that Early 2000's edginess is still alive and well. There is a place for a Prototype 3 in the current gaming landscape and hopefully the time is sooner rather than later.
This & incredible hulk ultimate destruction were the only games when i was a kid that, when you would jump or fall from a great height, the ground would crack & shatter when you hit the ground. This game took that whole premise to a whole other level. I just always found that so satisfying
I used to play prototype 1 a lot but i didn't finish it.And then prototype 2 came out and ive finished that game more then 5 times and im still not tired of it.I hope they make another. If they do it will do sooo good.
One of my favorite games and a most desired for a remake or expand upon games. Interesting story, interesting powers with a very immersive and unique feel. Will definitely be replaying it.
This is just like what happened to Titanfall, after Titanfall 2 it was very clear that the publishers are not interested to make a 3rd game despite the the later huge popularity of the game and the huge support of the playerbase wanting a 3rd game. There was also so many potential for the game and it saddens me that they do not pursue the possibility of an amazing game.
I have good memories of this franchise. Not the best i've played but it was a fun time and memorable. What stuck to me was with the higher outbreak zones. At the High danger Zone you almost got an end of the world feeling with mutants everywhere and a war between the military and the mutants. It would've been cool to see what a third game in this time would be like. We also need a game similar to The incredible hulk : ultimate destruction. That game was damn good.
Subbed. This remains a favorite of mine to this day. I used to parkour for so long and so intensely that I'd forget to blink and cry while I played this game. Anyone who recognizes what a gem this game is deserves my respect. And yeah as someone that got very invested in the games and story: Gameplay: Prototype 2 > Prototype 1 Story: Prototype 1 >>>>> Prototype 2
I want a 3rd entry so bad. If not, it's a series that can truly benefit for a very well thought out, updated reboot. I know that may sound sickening to many people, but I think it could work.
Prototype 1 and 2 are still some of my favorite games, in fact I made a play through of both recently. As everyone is saying, a new one on next gen (2 gens new actually) would be badass!!!
It truly hurts when this happens to good games, so many title-worthy games fadeaway into obscurity. Another one that lives in my head rent-free is Golden Sun! God I loved that game
Golden Sun is one of my favorites. On the bright side with this one. Maybe letting the franchise end is better than what Activision would do if it kept going.
I played first part back in 2015 on my cousin sister's laptop. But got stuck at a mission where a cutscene about a powerful girl came and Alex falls from the building and we had to fight those monsters in a warehouse. It was too difficult, so i left. Then didn't get the chance to play again as my cousin's temporary stay of six months ended :(
I bought the Biohazard Bundle on PS5 for 4$ and although it outputs 1080p 30fps i played both of them for the nostalgia and "hoping" one day Activision give the series another go.
Alex Mercer was such an interesting character to play and get to know as you played the game. When I think of this game and the parkour mechanics and all of the abilities at your disposal it was absolutely fun. The only problem I have with this game is that the missions get a little too similar and after a while you just feel like you are on massive repeat and ready for the ride to be over. That being said I am not disappointed with the game I have never played the sequel but I would be willing to play a third installment if the chance ever presents itself.
There are two things I want to see: A legend of dragoon remake/remaster and Prototype 3. I couldn't care less about anything else but these two things in gaming.
i still play both games to this day, and whenever a friend of mine says they never played the game i'll buy both for them on Steam. my way of keeping the franchise and the fanbase alive
We need Prototype 3 so badly! The prototype series needs to continue! It's the best and if I could I would slap the people who were against continuing the series till they can't live without it! That's how much I love Prototype!
Probably one of the best games that made you feel like a powerful antihero/villain. Something newer Superhero games that flopped should have taken note of.
4:15 - I'm surprised you didn't mention taxi cars, there was overabundance of them because they saved space on car models, what it resulted in is that you saw unrealistic amount of taxi cars everywhere and it just catches the eye every time - every critic was talking about it :D
I still remember rage quitting this game during one of the late game missions. Had to complete a mission under a strict time limit while being hounded by the zombies and the army at the same time. I tried and failed that mission so many times, I lost count and quit it.
What happen at the time was prototype and infamous came out around the same time and prototype at the time had more hype behind it. Ppl started checking out Infamous and liked it better.
Hopefully if the Microsoft buyout goes through, they will bring Prototype back to life with a third game. The games are still amazing and unique in their brutality, especially now when the open world superhero genre seems to be really scarce. Also, the parkour and entire movement system from the first game is superior, bring that one back.
@Danial Syahiran honestly at this point do you really care? It's either they remake Prototype or make a sequel to the second game and it's either amazing or horrible, or they abandon the IP completely and we never get another Prototype again. I'd take the chances

Yo, I gotta see that tattoo design
Yeah same i need to see it
Glad to see so many people enjoyed this game as much as I did. I hope a part 3 that takes the epicness to the next level gets made
Prototype is one of the greatest power fantasy games ever, using the huge blade and the armor at the same time was amazing
Hammer fists jumping off a building to fly thru a tank was too gangster.
I loved both Infamous and Prototype. Would love either franchise to come back.
Why not mix them?
You'll become a conduit that manipulates biomass and then gain all those fancy powers like a organic version of smoke dash where you transform into a flock of bats or birds instead and then refil your conduit powers by absorbing people
The fact this video got over 400k views. Means people want a sequel
The one thing that I absolutely loved from the first game was the Military blotter that Mercer could hear when he was being hunted by special army units. And the destruction expenditure (at the end of a chapter) was a nice touch to make the player realize how much mayhem he caused that day.
Fun fact : A Canceled Spider-man 4 game was going to use the same engine used in prototype it was being developed before the cancelation of the movie
Stranger of Paradise is proof that Early 2000's edginess is still alive and well. There is a place for a Prototype 3 in the current gaming landscape and hopefully the time is sooner rather than later.
Bullshit. *walks away, refuses to elaborate*
someone is starting a fan project I'm here to ask as many people as possible to help out in anyway they can
This & incredible hulk ultimate destruction were the only games when i was a kid that, when you would jump or fall from a great height, the ground would crack & shatter when you hit the ground. This game took that whole premise to a whole other level. I just always found that so satisfying
Yes! I was about to meantion this, Hulk UD was fire as hell, if they remade this games for next gen it would out sell so much
I would climb the highest buildings just for this..
Imagine a Prototype online game where the city is filled with other powered players fighting each other.
This video honestly is going to make me redownload and play them again. I remember having so much fun with both these games
I always loved the mechanics in Prototype... It was so fun to play and I was blown away by the stuff you could do. Awesome video, very well made 💙
Prototype's Gameplay was really great. The franchise deserve another installment.
Still remains one of my favorite of all time. The gameplay, the story, the powers everything is amazing and memorable.
I really hope they make a modern take of this game. So much fun
Subbed. This remains a favorite of mine to this day. I used to parkour for so long and so intensely that I'd forget to blink and cry while I played this game.
Anyone who recognizes what a gem this game is deserves my respect.
And yeah as someone that got very invested in the games and story:
Gameplay: Prototype 2 > Prototype 1
Story: Prototype 1 >>>>> Prototype 2
I had a fantastic time on both the Prototype games and the Infamous games. Each had their pros and cons. But I still love both franchises.
Prototype 1 is like the first lover of my teenage era that I will always remembered
Awesome game. The powers themselves and how good the conrol of those powers felt was awesome
A Prototype Reboot with Alex Mercer via next-gen would be awesome
I want a 3rd entry so bad. If not, it's a series that can truly benefit for a very well thought out, updated reboot. I know that may sound sickening to many people, but I think it could work.
Prototype 1 and 2 are still some of my favorite games, in fact I made a play through of both recently. As everyone is saying, a new one on next gen (2 gens new actually) would be badass!!!
It truly hurts when this happens to good games, so many title-worthy games fadeaway into obscurity.
Another one that lives in my head rent-free is Golden Sun! God I loved that game
At least Golden Sun is back somewhat by Nintendo Online Service
Golden Sun is one of my favorites. On the bright side with this one. Maybe letting the franchise end is better than what Activision would do if it kept going.
I played first part back in 2015 on my cousin sister's laptop. But got stuck at a mission where a cutscene about a powerful girl came and Alex falls from the building and we had to fight those monsters in a warehouse. It was too difficult, so i left. Then didn't get the chance to play again as my cousin's temporary stay of six months ended :(
I'm so down for a 3rd Prototype.
Hey, if you ask me, InFAMOUS and [PROTOTYPE] DESPERATELY NEED a remaster! ❤
This was a great game. The body surfing was epic.
Activision is too busy making COD remakes
Still my favorite game ever. I would kill for a reboot.
That writing sound effect gave me goosebumps every single time... :( Great video but it was hard to watch.
There are two things I want to see: A legend of dragoon remake/remaster and Prototype 3. I couldn't care less about anything else but these two things in gaming.
Holy crap I didn’t know Nerdstalgic had another channel? This dude is phenomenal.
man coming back to and learning that the 3rd game was scrapped due to concord
I wanted to play this so bad as a kid! The commercial looked so cool
i still play both games to this day, and whenever a friend of mine says they never played the game i'll buy both for them on Steam. my way of keeping the franchise and the fanbase alive
My favourite childhood game ❤, Prototype deserves a remake with alex mercer as its protagonist
To me it’s still depressing that one of my favourite franchises ever got killed for basically no reason.
What a nostalgia trip! Absolutely loved prototype. If TDU can come out with a 3rd game, I can have hope that prototype can too.
We need Prototype 3 so badly! The prototype series needs to continue! It's the best and if I could I would slap the people who were against continuing the series till they can't live without it! That's how much I love Prototype!
I loved Prototype 1 so much, would be awesome to have something similar again
Probably one of the best games that made you feel like a powerful antihero/villain. Something newer Superhero games that flopped should have taken note of.
Should Prototype 1 & 2 get a Remake?🤔
I have 2 on xbox I'd look for a disc version though, it's still expensive on the store
prototype 2 was the one that i played, oml seeing the title for this video unlocked half my childhood
The Prototype games were brilliant and great fun to play.
Quitter.. you bring much dishonor to your famiry.
I think they would remake the series
@Danial Syahiran honestly at this point do you really care? It's either they remake Prototype or make a sequel to the second game and it's either amazing or horrible, or they abandon the IP completely and we never get another Prototype again. I'd take the chances
Bro I remember seeing the trailer for this game as a kid and thought it was the most badass shit ever
Best game ever made. It satisfied my urge of just causing destruction and having pure enjoyment of just doing ridiculous gory things
Sending the FBI your location asap
@@metroboomincam2787 wait that’s not what I meant 😂
@@silentagony1019 LMAOOO
a remake or a remaster will hit the spot
Hopefully Microsoft brings the franchise back after acquiring Activision.
I hope so too. THey need ips. Prototype is one game i REALY hope they revive.
Will never forget the days when infamous and prototype had their fifteen minutes. Love both games
My childhood game and one of the best games i ever played, i need to install it and complete it again :)
The second Protoytpe has quality of life changes, but if you put those in the first one it would blow the second out of the water
Both games are still playable to this day I hope they get to make a part 3
Imagine a prototype and Venom crossover.
Proto Venom
Activision at it finest, Guys put soul into the game and make best selling game of the year, while activision lays them out the next year LOL
prototype had one of the best jumps and moves, it actually felt like we had those hands, for 2009, it was reallly impressive
One of my favorite games ever. Acrivision destroyed this franchise...
This is the only game I had pre-ordered in my life there was a hidden mechanic where if you held the weapon wheel button during certain in game cinematic cutscenes like consuming a an orange military target or destroying a base or hive it would do it in slow motion man I miss this game elbow dropping a tank from the top of Empire State or pile driving someone into a building damn them was good times
Interesting, how did you find out about that hidden mechanic?
@@danko5866 by accident whenever you hold the weapon wheel button down time slows down in the game if you press it just before an in game cutscene it slows the cutscene down as well
I love both prototype and infamous its very sad there has not been any other game similar to these franchises since infamous second son :/
