HOW TO BUILD A HANGING ROD FOR YOUR PLANTS or CURTAINS

  • Using plumbing parts to create a custom curtain rod is not a new DIY but it occurred to me “It would also work so well for hanging plants!” I couldn’t find exactly the tutorial I was looking of so I decided to make my own! You will have to adjust how long your rod is and how many flange/T supports you’ll need based on how big or small your space is and what you’re hanging but this video helps make since of the parts you’ll need and how they fit together.

For future reference all you would have needed to use was a masonry drill bit. It'll cut through all that.

That plant rod is gorgeous. I love do it yourself projects❤🌹I have a huge, climbing plant that my late aunt gave me. I put some lattice in a big pot and let it climb all the way to the ceiling lol. Its beautiful. Im going to add a second one next to it, join them together so they will take over the little wall their in front of, put some pretty floor pillows down. That will be my meditation area.

@@Celiadw Yes it is beautiful. You dont need a lot of space just a piece of lattice for the plant to climb up. At the top of the lattice, I placed a pic of my aunt ☺

Hi Celia, you were a random find and for years I have not known what to do with a top stairs metre wide by 1.5m window. I did not want to drape it, needed to retain sunlight as is a NW facing garden, though new I wanted some type of feature, I NOW know how I’ll dress this window....was only looking for ideas to repurposed black curtains rods from my bedroom as we have recently revamped it & yes you’ve guessed it, we’ve embarked on occupying ourselves during lockdown. Many thanks Celia your window feature is totally wonderful. I’ll be ordering wardrobe doors from ikea shortly, will include hanging the plant holder’s....moi to beautiful you ☺️😘🥰

Do you know if I could do something similar over my curtain rod? I want this for in my bedroom, but I need my curtains to stay. So I would think I could make it go up higher, and come off the wall more. (so plants would hang in front of my curtains, when closed)
I also wonder if it would work on drywall :/ and how much this cost 😥
