  • I needed more room to put my plants inside this winter so I made some wooden plant hangers! Hanging plants from the ceiling doesn't have to be difficult!

    Thanks for this great idea!! Im looking to do the same thing, I didn’t think about drilling holes through the sticks to hang them from string. I was going to saw in a notch so they fit right into the hook!😂😂 good job guys!!!

    Hi. I just found your channel while searching for “DIY plant hanging bar using dowels” and you were the first to pop up. I love your project and look forward to seeing them full! Also, I’m originally from Madison, WI and remember bringing plants inside before fall. I now live in Naples, FL so no more moving in and out…unless they want a tan or warm bath in the rain. Lol. I will be watching. Take care.

    Hey, great video! Thanks for your explanations. What kind of rope did you use?

    "You know where you are? You're in the jungle, baby." Just a hint: studs are vertical; joists are horizontal. Nice work, John and Alesha.

    Lol! Are craft rooms supposed to be neat?! My sure isn't. I always rationalize that allows the rest of the house be clean. Great job on the plant bars!!

    That’s a great idea , I know I put enough holes on my walls and ceiling , why not add some more . I’m renting but as long my rent always paid on time I should be good. Will just fix it after my lease😂. I did this but I use drift wood instead . Thank you for sharing .

    • @GracefulPlants
      @GracefulPlants  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol! Thank you! Do it! No one looks at the ceiling anyway! 😋 I would have LOVED to use driftwood but dowels were the cheaper/quicker option unfortunately.

    Loved this! I think your plants will be happy! I wish I could but we’re renting and already put enough holes in the walls 😅

      Bahaha! Nah! The landlord won't look at the ceiling! 😉😂

    I have 3 dormer windows upstairs (south facing) that I just bought shower curtain rods, the tension type I that I plan on putting in each alcove. Hopefully this will help my hanging plants that need more sun. I have such a dark house as it is that I worry with winter coming that they won't get enough sun.

      That's awesome!! I feel your pain, our house is very dark as well and it's a bummer because I'd love for more plants to be all over the house! Your plants will appreciate the extra light I'm sure!! 😀

    Are those just double knots in the jute string around the dowels?

    I’m looking to do this because I’ve run out of floor space. How do you know how much weight it can hold?

    • @GracefulPlants
      @GracefulPlants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We installed them into the support beams in the ceiling and the hooks have a weight limit around 50lbs

    Wait what do you mean Wisconsin has 4 distinct seasons? Some would argue it has at least 14 seasons including 2 springs, 7 winters, 5 falls, and a short summer. I argue that it only has 2 seasons...winter and construction season 😂

    • @GracefulPlants
      @GracefulPlants  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LMAO! I was going to say that you have to include construction season in there and depending on what part of the state you are in - monsoon season!

    I’m always afraid to take my babies outside , what if they get bugs ?? 👀👀

    • @GracefulPlants
      @GracefulPlants  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of my plants never go fully outside and stay on our enclosed sun porch. They can get bugs while they are inside too so I figure it's worth it by how much more they thrive in the warm/humid weather in the summer 😀
