- Welcome back, as title askes.... I think I can split it in half, but need to source completely green timber, so later this year I'll do another one of these but thinner😉
Try it and let me know how you did..

Thank you very much for watching 🤗 - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
This is the first time I have seen such turnings without the use of a light. Well done Tomislav.
Thank You Jack☺️
That was a cliff hanger. Had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Congratulations, we’ll done
Thank you sir....
Wow. Never saw anyone make a paper plate on the lathe before. Lol. Awesome technique!
Thank you ☺️
Fascinating!🤣
Very nice Tomislav. Great exercise for consistent wall thickness and tool control. 🕶
Thank you Steven
So fun to turn thin. Great job.
Indeed, thank you
That's amazing! I found myself holding my breath quite a bit during this so you had my full attention for sure. You seem to be about the only person who can say "Just one more cut..." - and get away with it. Great job.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thank you Brendan 🤗 I had my fair share of one cut to many but weirdly not much on thin stuff like this 😅
Tom, you have the fine motor skills of a surgeon. Wow!!
Thank you sir 😀
Wow! That was an extremely impressive display of turning skill and patience. I have to admit that I was cringing when you were clamping that piece up and wrapping the electrical tape around it.
😲But it all turned out OK.
Second time posting my comment on this because Google apparently didn't like that I posted a name and another social media outlet initials so it removed my post. Trying again but have removed what might have been interesting information. It was about a guy on another outlet who makes cowboy hats and bends the brims the way you did with this piece.
Usually I can bent bowls quite severe but the foot on this plate prevents me...I feel resistans from it....I saw your previous comment, not sure what happend, I like how turners make hats and such.... ☺️
Reminds me of cowboy hat turning. Speaking of which, they use back lights while turning to judge the evenness and thinness. For the interior, used to be 12v light with a wire going through the spindle; nowadays LEDs with batteries fit under the cap. I was going to suggest an LED pen light jammed in the morse taper, but you've pulled it off without anything like that, which is more impressive.
Great vid, as usual.
I have to get my self one of those light, thank you very much for watching
Hi Tomislav, I had second thoughts about the finishing of your plate. Should I do it I would try to squeeze it in a slightly smaller cardboard box, keep it somewhat damp and put a weight in the middle to force it in to get the desired shape. I will try this to control a little bit more the warping than with a microwave drying process. Once again your project was stimulating. Thanks
Perhaps old bowl and squize it in there.... should make up an interesting shape☺️
I jumped on as soon as I saw your post on IG... DANG! I have to try this!
Go for it,its really fun.... thank you for watching
I am very happy to see you still enjoy turning even after so many hours on the lathe! One of the best thing in life is to keep a child mindset (no negative vibes here, on the contrary) and be able to enjoy oneself and be amazed even by the most simple things. On top of that, amazing technique and light touch! Congrats!
Thank you Boris very much 🤗
I have watched Richard R. In person. Both of you have strong hands and a soft touch. Dennis White also had a soft touch and very strong hands. I think it comes from a lifetime of turning. This is a great demonstration of those qualities. Well done, sir!
Thank you very much for kind words 🤗
Very thin, Tomislav. 😊 thank you for having fun with us. I was more nervous when you bent it in the clamp. 😊
It should bent more but that foot is thicker so it restrics movement a bit.... thank you for watching
Excellent skills test! It's pretty amazing to be able to get it that thin and stay in one piece. You could make it one of those challenges with your 4 ways projects.
Very cool and great job!
Thank you very much 🤗
Thanks
☺️
This video inspires me to make plates. I won’t make them as thin as yours. Question: how did you process the blanks to their starting thickness? Did you chainsaw them that thickness or…?? Please explain. Thank you, Stuart
I resaw it on the bandsaw, before bandsaw I used exclusive electric chainsaw for this kind of precise stuff....
nice job and very skill with your tools .
Thank you very much
thanks
Thanks for watching
Спасибо, Томислав! Прекрасная работа. Высший клас! Твои работы мне всегда нравятся, не оставляют равнодушным. Хотя эта похожа на экзаменационную работу.
😂thank you very much 🤗
estoy aprendiendo mucho con tus videos felicidades maestro un saludo desde Barcelona .
Thank you
Might I ask what that wood is? I would call that silver maple. I got a bunch of what looks to be the exact same wood from a neighbor’s felled tree. That piece has such a beautiful ripple. Awesome video as usual
Its rippled ash 🤗 thank you for watching
Amazing fine sir. I’ve gone thin enough to see light but not that thin. Wow! I did like the Camera angles you tried. I didn’t see any bad angles.
Thank you For feedback ☺️
Great skills building.
Thank you
Such skill! Very impressive!
Thanks 😀
Отлично сделано 👍👍👍
Thanks 😀
The point? Maybe a lamp shade?
Could be.... sky is the limit😉
That is amazing. Would it be harder or easier to turn a bowl that thin? Thanks for another excellent video.
Hmmm I would say bowl would be a bit more difficult ☺️
That made me nervous.
You should see in few hours a 4 ways😉
You should make a lamp shape Tomi 😁
Will do👍 hopefully soon 😉
i have made some pieces that you could see light through , but they were a mistake ,thanks for your insite, bryan mccabe aka ,woodbutcher
Thank you Bryan, no there is opportunity to make one on purpose🤗
Wow! I take it you're not a coffee drinker?😁
Thanks.... nope , haven't drink one in ages😉
