    Thank you for this tutorial on the Cornet Herald. I am getting one for Christmas and your video is a big help. I am new to turning wood. I am a wood carver, painter, and do pyrography but I want to make bowls, platters, and other wood turn items. Thanks again.

      I am on the Emerald Coast in Alabama USA. I really look forward to buying the Cornet Herald. I think I am buying the perfect lathe.

      Having used the lathe since it came out I’ve been well impressed with it and feel that its the best value for money in that price range

    Hello Andrew, what would us novices do without someone like you with the patience to outline exactly how to put this lathe together. 50 odd minutes of instruction. Thanks from a very grateful beginner.

      Hello Garry you will love it I’ve worked with them for many years and it’s a cracking lathe. Demonstrated many times on Heralds at woodturning clubs as well. Have fun 👍

    Andrew, thank you so much for such a good video.
    I have just ordered one of these, and I hope you can help me with a dimension?
    I am going to bench mount it, on an existing bench that has my DML24X on at the moment.
    However, I am a little worried about the spindle centre height! Nowhere can I find the height of the spindle centre off the bench!?
    I have ordered the bench feet as well because I was told that I needed them to bench mount it?
    My concern is that my bench is 910mm (35 1/4”) high, and although I am just under 6’, my elbow height is 1150mm (45 1/4”), the centre heist of the lathe, especially with the feet added, will make it all too high!?
    I would therefore be very grateful if you could give me the heights and any suggestions?
    Many thanks

    • @andrewhall6880
      @andrewhall6880  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jon thanks for the comment, I will measure the height today and message you this evening with the dimensions I am 6ft and if anything I prefer to have the lathe so that it is a little higher to keep my back strait causing less fatigue, you are going to have some fun with your new lathe I’m delighted with mine Ive been working with them since they came out. Have you seen the video on the Record power TH-cam site when I visited the showroom, it was in a time before Covid have a good day.

    • @andrewhall6880
      @andrewhall6880  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello again John just measured up from the bottom of the bench mount to the centre of the spindle is 12 1/2” 318mm Your bench is 35” high + 12 1/2” making 47 1/2” 1207mm mine is 481/2” 1232mm and I’m 6ft and it perfect for my posture It’s something I am passionate about with working in the construction industry all my life I’ve had back challenges and don’t want any more so I think yours should be spot on at that height Hope that helps

      @@andrewhall6880 Thank you so much for doing that for me. As I suspected, it's a little high, but good to know that you find that height comfortable. So I feel more relaxed, and excited about getting my Herald on Monday 😁 If I do find it a little high, I will have to get one of the mats like yours .

      @@andrewhall6880 That’s an idea. What sort of step do you use?
      Can I also be a real pain and ask for another dimension? I need to know the distance the motor overhangs when it is at the end of the bed? Also the actual bed length?
      Many thanks again.

    Did you ever add casters to the legs of the Herald? Curious how that turned out if you did.

    It's a good designed lathe, too bad that the company is not interested for them after sale and the 5 year guarantee turns out useless.
    I have got mine for 3 months now with problem in rpms and the company doesn't recognise it as a problem.
    Of course it's very annoying and some times dangerous when you are working to get to 700 rpm from 400 or to trying to put in 1200 for example and not getting there but too low or too high.
