Just like so many other disappointing videos, there is audio but nobody is speaking to explain what is going on. No description of the chemicals and proportions, or recommendations of the proper application methods. It was interesting but mostly useless. Also, is the amount of time required worth the result? New rims are not that expensive.
I just had a few sets of 15" rims sandblasted. They were very rough. $20 each. A few rattle cans of turbo Rustolieum and they look good. Will the paint hold up? I have NO idea.
(So called “chrome finish” paint is mainly intended for indoor diy use like mirror frames, picture frames etc, - It’s not as durable as silver car paint / enamel paint plus clear coat etc.)
But what price do you put on R&D? What is the value as a proof of concept? What price do you put on learning, developing, practicing, and mastering a skill?
I have resprayed my wheels but I done them while they were still on the van,I used two coats of primer and rub down and cleaned off before two coats of hih gloss sil very and two coats of lacquer,
There's no way with big flakey rust that it started with, that it came out that smooth before the putty! I've cleaned wheels with way less rust that had DEEP pits 🙄
Heard of brush plating. This would had been great in the '60's & 70's as our poor man's mag was a chrome plated factory rim. Will this hold to the elements?
What a load of negativity, bear in mind that not everyone is an automotive genius like most everyone on here, someone, somewhere will have learned a bit here.
No, it wouldn't. Painted wheels last 10 - 15 years, depending on conditions of driving. If you have too much money, better gold-plate them, while you are at it
But that is what he loves doing, so it is not a waste of anything to him. All that matters is how HE feels after he did it. What any of us think on the negative side does not matter.
Why not just place the wheel in a vat of Evap-o-rust? I've removed rust from many items using it; the stuff works like magic in releasing the rust from the metal without affecting the core material. And it can be filtered/separated for reuse over and over. It has zero toxicity and is pH neutral.
@@LowMileageChannel I've heard that the way you've done it is particularly difficult, based on the measurements of the fluids involved and the time they have to work - and the time to rinse th solution. Beautiful work, btw!
Yeah absolute waste of bloody good time & resources which could be spent far better on something else!! Mind you this method migh be good if you were repairing something like Ben Hur's wooden chariot wheels!! I have to conclude therefore that this guy simply has far too much free time & so obviously with nothing better to do!!
@@LowMileageChannel it was super interesting and, as i sayed, amazing job. Im just honestly curious to which point is it worth to restore such a cheap equipment to that state...Im not demoralizing what u did.

You are a tit if you don’t know why this is 😂
Yes like a bikini. What it reveals is very interesting but what it conceals is vital.
I’m glad. Too much mouth running on TH-cam. Just enjoy the art and let that be that.
Shut up you moronic numskull
It's not a tutorial video, much better original soundtrack than some club music.
I would've thought chrome plating bath would've been the steps involved in this process. Never heard of hydrochroming before. Looks neat.
this process can chrome wood materials as well.
I wanna try it out with customizing hot wheels cars now
Search for mirror silvering, that is all this is.
@@abpsd73 yes similar
To much work
Amazing. Appreciate the amount of effort you had gone through to demonstrate this option. Its not easy. Simply put.
Thanks for the man or woman who invented sand blasting, you would not never clean that rust any other way. Great result and very good video!
its possible to clean in other ways, but sandblaster is more faster.

Durability? It looks great, but will it hold up?
Long enough to hang on the wall in the garage.
Give it a month the rust will slowly reappear ,, he never gt rid of all the Rust completely it will come back soon enough
Freaking AMAZING job!!!! Looks great!!!!
You can buy a new steel rim for 45$..he has days wrapped up in a rim where that chrome will be flaking in 6 months
You must be fun at parties

Just admit that you're a typical lazy one.

😂🤣Exactly! Make it worth while. Like watching him restore a paper plate.
The starting wheel was perfectly fine 😂.

Amazing result, the wheel looked beautiful❤.

Good job looks really nice
It's amazing.
Wow that's cool
Very nice, even with the background sound effects
Could do without the fake shop noises in the background. More of a distraction.
Nice job ! 👍
It would have been nice to know what process you did to get the chrome to shine like that
I will try it. Thank you so much.
Why ?
Good stuff!
WOW, impressive and excellent job!!

So some sort of magical alchemy? I’m dubious…
Absolutely brilliant!!!! Love your channel ❤👍🏴
I really need your recipe for that hydrochroming solution, and how long does it actually last?
What a load of negativity, bear in mind that not everyone is an automotive genius like most everyone on here, someone, somewhere will have learned a bit here.
very good video
Great job!
What's the name of Chrome solution your using? Great finish
Spray on "Chrome" will start peeling off in no time. Strip it, send it out for real triple chrome plating.
No, it wouldn't. Painted wheels last 10 - 15 years, depending on conditions of driving.
If you have too much money, better gold-plate them, while you are at it
No Bob is right. so- called chrome paint only lasts a few days, that’s why we don’t all have a can of it in our garage!
@@vordan7111what painted rims last ten to fifteen years . What bs

WoW😱
Something looks really strange 🤨 1:20 - 1:25 did he made two wheels?
Cool
hi , Is it possible to choose the combination of chemicals used to make chrome solution?!
Repairing a curved wheel is madness, and a waste of money. It's cheaper to buy a new one.
But that is what he loves doing, so it is not a waste of anything to him. All that matters is how HE feels after he did it. What any of us think on the negative side does not matter.
With all due respect to the master. I will still ask. Was it worth the money and time spent?
Очень хорошо 👍👍👍
Can you share the chemicals required for chrome finish

I've seen this chroming process before and still not convinced that there is such a thing.

Its amazing !!! how you did this?? ITS AMAZING!!!!! NICE JOB!!!
Daremna robota.
Amazing job, thanks for sharing.
New rims are so cheap that (even in a low income country) this makes little sense. If you have some special rims at hand, it's another story ofc.
Very Impressive🧐

2 components of chemical chrome solution

Probably should’ve picked a nicer wheel. 20 hours to fix a wheel that’s worth maximum $80 is not efficient lol

I wish I had a pound for every time ive been told chrome is a process NOT a paint finish. This just too unbelieveable.

I got the same results but with different grit sandpaper and soapy water. Very time consuming but worth it.

Pretty cool, but isnt a new set of steelies relatively cheap?
I think the whole process was for the video.
But steel wheels don't look like mirror finish chrome.
Two completely different levels of appearance!
It's ok but hardly AMAZING especially that finish, was expecting a miles better end result with that headline. PFFttttttttt.

How you chrome that with plastic spray bottles ?????
