  • This Tana demo takes you from a simple #todo tag to surfacing todos on Daily Nodes and within projects.
It was recorded live for Tana users in AP Productivity Cohort Six, and presented unedited here. I even left in a part where I was confused for a few moments-I want everyone to see that we're all learning Tana together! Since it's live via Zoom, please forgive the slightly lower production values from my usual content! 😊

You are an exceptional trainer! 🖥 🖱Your voice is pleasant. Your instructions are clear. Your pace is EXCELLENT! 💯 I got off the Waitlist about 2mos ago, but I just started using Tana today (Mar 2023). You're taking me at a pace that works for me as a beginner who is relatively unfamiliar with Roam, Notion, Obsidian, etc. I'm migrating info into Tana from Evernote. So talking and moving like a wizard who likes to click and show off their new toy causes me to get lost quickly. I'm immensely grateful for this video. 🎁 THANK YOU! 👌🏼🙏🏼

As of a short while ago, you can set up a status field which is linked to a node's check box, so that "To Do", "Doing", "Someday/Maybe" etc. all produce a unchecked box, but moving it to "done" will check the box (and vice versa).

The search node within a field adds a generation so it would be GRANDPARENT. That should make your search work and not have to update every single day. 😊

I am desperate for someone to make a beginners guide to Tana - a REAL beginners guide. From scratch, and with explanations of how it works, (and why) and then apply it to real life examples so I can see how things are constructed. Everyone assumes you know what you are doing, or that you are coming from Notion, or Obsidian etc. I really want to build a system (I'm a researcher) but despite playing with it for a few months now, I have no idea what I'm doing and just getting more and more confused. Is there such a thing anywhere??

How to import web data into Tana?

Can you track time later? How trend how long it takes to get stuff done?

Adding it to fields suggests that, yes, you COULD track it later. I'm not yet aware of any automated way to do that, but I suspect that sort of functionality is in the works. There's already quite a bit of database manipulation possible in table views, and you could definitely view your logged tasks as a table
