To be honest, from the day I got an iPhone 14 Plus I use phone less and less generally. It’s not about the processor or the screen size. It’s all about why and how you use the phone. I don’t have many apps and I barely use most of them. All started by deleting Instagram. My life became much much better.

    • @mollyflayer13
      @mollyflayer13 ปีที่แล้ว

recently i’ve starting minimizing everything in my life. i deleted pinterest, facebook, instagram, tiktok. i still have snapchat but i use it for communication. not mindless scrolling. i feel youtube gets me the most now that those apps are gone. but if i don’t have the time to sit down and watch the video, then i don’t. with all those other apps i used them even when i didn’t necessarily have the time. that was an issue.

      I love LOVE loooooooveeeee my #iPhone13Mini !!!
It’s the best #phone ever made. For reference, I’m 5’11 195lbs with average to large hands.
I recently had a daughter. I had the iPhone 13 Mini 128gb which I bought in 2021. This year upgraded to another iPhone 13 Mini with 256gb. Having a baby and taking pictures really takes up storage fast. Which brings up a great trait about the phone, it’s the perfect point and shoot phone.
#Apple really messed up by discontinuing it, unless of course they have other secret plans for it. I really hope they do. Because I have the privilege to be able to upgrade to any the iPhone every year or other year, but I will use the iPhone 13 Mini as long as I can or until they release the next Mini.

Why Chrome? Because he loves to compromise his privacy and loves watching ads? Brave blocks out all that sh*t, so it's much more "minimalistic" and doesn't track you. Apple Notes can do everything scannable can do. Apple Reminders can be every bit as minimalistic as Teuxdeux; no need for *another* app, another subscription.

Living in an age where all these companies are paying professionals to keep us as consumers. I must say it’s really tough to build these great habits but I definitely think it’s doable.
I think as a society we need to start having these conversations and holding on another accountable. It’s very easy to get lost in the sauce when you’re having a bad day and infinitely scrolling your life away.

Same here. Was in 2019 and I remember procrastinating for my university midterm in the library by just binging TH-cam videos instead of actually studying. Came across "How to get up at 6am every day", watched it... and then watched every single one of his videos. By the end of the day I deleted all my social media, and I haven't gone back since, and anytime I can feel my life spiraling out of control again, I come back to Matt's videos (aka right now at 4am as my depression is currently fueling) and it's a nice "realignment" to see "Ok, remember why you're doing this. Slow down, and just focus on where you need to improve, and do a lot of bicep curls".

Don't know if you ever tried it your phone, but I found it very useful.
You delete every home screen icon and use only search tool from the lock screen.
Now each time you tap on the screen of the phone you clearly have in mind what app you're about to use.
In many cases it even faster than taping on the app icon. For example when you need to set an alarm if you write "Alarm" in the search it immediately opens all your Alarms in the app.
P.S. But for all of you who like keeping home screen icons, I wish apple would've add an option to hide text.

This isn't necessarily a phone app, but switching from Asana to ClickUp in my business was a game changer. It's definitely worth exploring! Not only can do more with tasks than Asana, but some plans also include unlimited file storage so you can say bye-bye to your cloud storage costs. They even have a chat similar to slack so you can consolidate that too. I am a TH-camr as well who needs to coordinate tasks between myself and my team. We create a "task" in clickup for every video, and I'm able to upload photos and other promotional media directly in the task so my team can download what they need to do their part of the task. Super convenient!

Two apps that I’ve been using almost daily for over a year now are Rise Sleep and MacroFactor for tracking macronutrients. They seamlessly integrate with Apple Health so they won’t disrupt anything you’re doing with how you track your health metrics but they provide valuable insights and UI that kinda of act as data enhancement overlays to make more use of the raw data you’re tracking. Rise uses your sleep tracking data to estimate when you will experience dips and peaks in energy and MacroFactor (in addition to food logging) can analyze your food intake vs your weight to continuously calculate macro targets based on actual data.

I use it primarily to limit my social media use to 15 minutes a day (I can't ask for more time like Apple's Screen Time - it was a game changer for me). Forest is a great app! It's one of the few apps that I've actually bought the premium version of.
The app lets you set a timer, and for that timer's duration, you can't use your phone.
Each time you complete your timer, it'll grow a tree in your virtual forest, but if you use your phone while a timer is in progress, it'll burn both your current growing tree and all other previous trees you've grown.
I've found after using the app for about a month, it became really easy for me to leave my phone alone, the urge to pull it out and distract myself doesn't come up nearly as often as it used to.

Reddit was a great aggregate for fitness knowledge. It’s best stuff was saved in a menu where all the tried and tested info was kept in a wiki. Twitter was useful mostly for immediate things like job opportunities, but for study it falls short.
Reddit fell short in the end because it’s crowd sourced and ultimately seems to be full of the same demographic or too many different ones providing opposing opinions, which in a way is kind of like twitter. So I now have no followed subjects on reddit and use it solely as a search engine, and I’ve finally stepped away from algorithms all together with TH-cam being the last standing.

Thanks for the app recommendation. I looked up Daylio and then realized I’d used it in the past at some point as I had a download cloud for it. I want something for the new year to really see how my negative thoughts are and if they overshadow the positive ones. On the flip side, how to highlight the positive thoughts so I can get out of parental rage with my little ones. 😅

The scannable app is not necessary. Apple notes has an option that allows you to scan documents

How do you organize and reference screenshots/pictures in your phone and other Inspirations for something you want to remember, something you want to design, or maybe something you want to take a picture of later?
I have over 2,000 screenshots of Inspirations in my phone from social media, youtube, and the internet. It's overwhelming using pictures as a second brain and referencing them later in the future.

I would get a Pinterest account and start uploading them as Pins, so you can delete them from your camera roll and organize them into boards and categories. It will clear up some space and you can have them all in one place, you can also figure out which ones are actually useful and which ones are just taking up space and be more mindful about how you screenshot and save.

Matt, go for Notion; you can get rid of 10 apps or so (sure, it takes some time to set up, but it is worth it 100%).

Im using the app called “One Sec”. Been a big game changer for me. It puts a hold screen on or asks you for an intention before you enter the app. Should give it a look and see
If it changes your habit with Reddit

the cause of so many alarms are either alarms every 5 minutes, or the exact time I need to wake up after using a sleep calculator

Newton Email is fantastic - I think you'll love the Zenbox settings. Also, Look into automations with your watch face and iPhone screens eg. In the morning I have my Todoist widget front and centre, at night time I have that widget hidden and only have a few apps on my night time phone screen.
