    They asked MJ who would win one game between the two teams and his response was epic... He said Bulls would win by 2 or 3 points - when asked why so little he said it was because most of his team was in their 50's and 60's now

      @Polkekeke They were great offensively, not defensively. There’s no way they have any chance agaisnt the Bulls, especially the 96 Bulls who are arguably the best perimeter and inside defensive team of all time. They’d absolutely kill the Warriors on the glass, and they have nobody who could guard Jordan and Pippen. KD would have to average in the high 30s just to keep them competitive. Not happening with Jordan, Pippen, Harper, and Rodman all taking turns at defending him. The Warriors wouldn’t even beat the 2001 Lakers.

    Warriors have a high chance of success even with 90s rules, for these reasons
    1. Ball movement
    The ball just never stops moving, not by dribbling but by passing it to the right person. Their ball always finds the guy who needs to shoot so the argument of locking down Durant, Curry, and Thompson using a man-to-man defense is kinda stupid.
    2. Efficiency and volume of outside shooting
    They are not just shooters, they are high efficiency and volume shooters.

    Hypotheticals are always fun, and defensively the Bulls match up with the Warriors much better than people think. Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman all made 1st team all defense that year and Ron Harper was no slouch either. And all 4 of those guys were between 6'6" and 6'8". The ultimate switchable defense before it became cool.
    Let's also not forget that the "most talented team ever assembled" was on their way to being bounced in the western finals a year later had it not been for a Chris Paul injury and 27 consecutive missed 3 pointers so not like they were utterly unbeatable.
    With that said I still think it would be a toss up 7 game series and whoever imposes their style the most consistently would win. If the Warriors can push the pace then they probably win. If the Bulls control the tempo and slow it down like the Rockets did to the Warriors in 2018 then the Bulls probably win.

      @jamespuso1627 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The lanes are as open as they are today because there are shooters all over the floor and defenders are spread further apart. Other than Kerr there's nobody really on the Bulls I'd want shooting the 3 ball and up against a team defense the Bulls would be screwed offensively with Rodman on the floor who can't really do much scoring outside of 5 feet there's no real reason with a defensive anchor like McGee protecting the rim you can't just play the defense they played on Rondo before he added a better 3 to his game and just sag off him and do a soft double team on someone else. I'd imagine they'd have Klay and Draymond double team Jordan almost the whole time since it'd be hard to punish them for leaving Rodman open.

      @Tecmo84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @jamespuso1627
      @jamespuso1627 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tecmo84 Well, if we're talking about the double team and leave a man open bit yes we're only talking about Rodman. As for leaving the rest open for 3s, that's kinda where it gets tricky because it depends again on if this hypothetical match up is happening in 1997 or 2017. I'm pretty sure 1997 was the last of those few years they shortened the 3 point line to up scoring in games. Pippen, Kukoc and Harper were 32%, 33% and 29% career 3 point shooters and most 3s back then were pretty wide open, so with a normal size 3 point line generally speaking yes I'm fairly comfortable sagging off them to close driving lanes if I'm coaching the team defending them. With the shortened 3 point line maybe less so since all 3 were shooting well beyond their career averages in '97 but the line being shorter also means less spread and space to cover.

If he's catching it in the high post off ball I have Klay trying to keep him out of his spot and deny him the ball and Draymond on him when he probably catches it where he wants anyway to keep him from getting closer, maybe try bringing real heat and have Klay try to get him to pick the dribble up and keep him from getting his fade off clean. He's the GOAT so even against that kinda heat he probably drops an efficient 24-25 but if I'm the Warriors keeping him from exploding for a 40 piece is probably enough for the W with the offensive firepower they have.

    I think this is a great match up. Imo, I would put MJ on Curry, I think MJ could guard him better than Harper. I think the matchups favor the Bulls because nobody can stop MJ. Pippen has a better chance of making it tough on KD than the Warriors stopping MJ. It'll likely just become a outscoring match between MJ & KD. GSW's 3pt shooting is OP, but Bulls were pretty good at the time too, granted they didn't shoot as much. MJ was 42% from 3pt, Pippen 37%, Kukoc 40%, Buechler 44%, Kerr 51%, so I think they can hang when it comes to shooting too. It just really comes down to who gets stopped, MJ or KD.

We just saw Durant this year when Boston double teamed him and he was rattled. Plus they were talking about the free flowing Golden State offense but what about the triangle offense the Bulls ran to perfection where everybody touched the ball. At the end of the day defense wins championships and the best defensive team could stifle the best offense and that '95-'96 Bulls had four of the best man on man defenders ever and nobody can tell me that the Warriors would just getting their shots easily, whenever they wanted.

I promise if he had a bad series this finals vs the celtics people will say the exact same narrative but because he didnt nobody says that.

      Kd in 2017 was pre achilles and also 4 years ago on a team where you cant double him like the celtics did so that statement doesnt make sense.
      The warriors have a better overall team, better bench, system, more spacing and doesnt rely one 1 guy to get 50% of their points and also doesnt have a guy who is a problem offensively(rodman).Very easy to bring up the defence narrative when the bulls never had to worry about guarding guys past 15ft in a slower paced era dominated by bigs not guards 90% of the time,These guys are running sets 30ft out.17 warriors were the 2nd best defence with an average height of 6'7 (minus curry).

It took one of the greatest shooting performances in Finals history for the Cavs to take a game from them. it was an outlier and that was the only game the warriors lost the entire playoffs. there is too much scoring talent on that team, along with curry running around the court which will scramble their defense and generate open looks for KD and Klay. And they have elite defenders in Klay, Draymond, and Iggy. They will be able to limit, the rest of the bulls squad, minus jordan, and drop 120+ a night pretty easily. It's not about the rules/officiating. It's play style. If you take them from 1996 and just have them play vs '17 Warriors, the Bulls will lose by a minimum of 30pts. It's going to be a sweep as well. The Warriors will humiliate the Bulls every night. I think any team that made it to the playoffs the past 3 years will DOMINATE the Bulls in every series. That is if you just make them play vs one another right away.
    But if you let the Bulls adjust first to modern play style, training, conditioning, get them familiar with the thought of centers moving fast and taking 3s, let them know and adjust to seeing 7 footers taking step back 3s or point guards taking 3s from half court, if you let the Bulls train and prepare and adjust (even their bodies) to the modern style, I'd say it's Bulls in 5.

    It depends on how you think basketball truly works and what variables you choose to "control" in this hypothetical game between teams of different eras. For example if a team 20 years from now plays like 2017 GSW but slightly better, would I consider them to be better than 2017 GSW? No, because GSW did it in 2017 with less knowledge and information and earlier in the evolution of basketball. 1996 Bulls is a greater team in their era than the 2017 GSW warriors are in theirs.
    If they play against each other, whose rules are they playing under? Do we get to wipe out all knowledge of basketball gained between 1996 to 2020 and let the raw talents of GSW play against the Bulls? Because 1996 Bulls have zero knowledge of the 2017 GSW. Or do we magically input all knowledge gained and give it to the Bulls and try to re-imagine how much better they would be with it? The teams that comes later has an advantage because they have more learnings and information. Can GSW develop a free flowing offense if they developed in the 90s or would they have given up that play style? Does MJ have a 3pt shot because every player in the league today that can shoot as well as MJ has developed a decent 3pt shot? So many variables......

      The bulls dont get the luxury of gaining imaginary knowledge/skills they never had. And you don't get the excuse of taking the knowledge and skills the warriors have and diminishing it because the bulls don't have that. You just take both teams in their primes that's it. That's why newer teams and players are always going to be better than the older ones. New teams have the benefit of learning from old film and new training/health techniques. That's why imo jordan and alot of the older gen are getting overrated. These new school guys are faster, stronger, smarter, and more skilled than the old cats and that's going to continue to happen as the game continues to age. It's that simple.

    1996 warriors probably run into the problems the pacers had with Jordan and Pippen always having a fistful of stephs Jersey like they did to Reggie miller. The bulls would manhandle them on the perimeter. The illegal defense rules would hinder the warriors excellent switching quasi zone.

What they had forgotten to mention was the bulls will adapt to any situations and knowing Jordan’s competitiveness, he would have dissected the warriors and dissolved them mentally and emotionally! And with Phil Jackson coaching the team, they will create a game plan that will suffocate warriors offense! But to close the argument, unlike bulls! They win the championship, warriors can not close! So, the scores in the 90s are actually a bit misleading. It wasn't only a matter of better defense (tbh, I'm not convinced any part of it was due to better defense).
      1) the pace was slower (~92 possessions per game in 1996 vs ~97 in 2017).
      2) Offenses are far more efficient now that they emphasize 3s, shots at the rim and FTs.
      3) Defense is much harder to play now do to the amount of space all the extra shooting creates.

    When its all said an done kd an steph will be top 10 all time .people dont realise that warriors teams was built with 2 of the best shooters ever an arguably the greatest scorer along with one of the best defenders to play the game in draymond so its really tuff to say bulls would win

      Funny how people try to compare Draymond to Rodman. The scoring average is about the same but Rodman leaves Draymond in the dust as far as a rebounder and defender and it isn't even close. Rodman averaged over 15 reb per game 6 out of his fourteen years and double digit reb the majority of his career. Draymond has never avg double digits EVER. How are these two considered close in talent level.

    It’s the Bulls 4/5 times. No question. They can defend the perimeter and play man defense. The Bulls would dominate them on offense, and slow them down on defense.

      How do you slow down steph curry? Man has a hand in his face and hits 30 footers. He can hit you from everywhere and if you dont double him well, houston we have a problem. How you slow down KD? It dont matter if you throw a body at him. You seen KD play? Nobody even gonna reach him to block his shot😂 wanna slow down klay thompson? If this guy is in the zone he and the basket become one person. 37 points in one quarter on 100% FG. There is no slowing down man. Were you asleep from 2015 to 2019?

      Who exactly is going to defend Curry and Klay? Is MJ going to spend his time chasing over one of them all game on defense? If not both of them are putting up 30 burgers.

      Who says 96 bulls had no talent? Lmaoo.. if they practice 10000x threes way into their prime in this era then i really think they can adjust to todays game add to the fact that almost all of them had lethal mid range and outstanding defense..

    Curry will absolutely have a field day. In most finals he has 2-3 people guarding him, however back in the day with iso match ups, they will never think of doing that, as a result Curry will be regaining down 3's, while KD has a field day in the paint. MJ would be MJ, but they can not match the shooting prowess of curry, and the complete package of KD.
