      Jordan would be easier to guard in 2017. They could play zone on him instead of 1on1. They would at minimum box and 1 Jordan.

      @@jwil2414 you clearly don't know what you talking about. Lol Jordan played when there was no 3 in the key on defense. Everytime he went to the paint he had the best shot blockers of all time plus a crowded paint waiting on him and it didn't faze him at all. Now the paint is wide open.

      @jwil2414 how lols. Zone? First l, triangle offense was designed against zone. Second, MJ is medium range shooter he will be taking lots of those if no one bodies him up.
      What do you think zone does? It protects an area in the court which is primarily the inside lane. That will only limit the offense from coming in but without a legit defensive center that will not be as effective.

    What people forget, is how the bulls played full court defense for long period of streetches (Rodman, Pippen, Jornda, Harper are fully capable of harrassing everyone), and the fact that the Triangule offense will provide a more steady efficient offense, which wouldn't allow GSW to have the same number of fast breaks as they had (making the full court press, easier)
    Look, GSW were a great team, but they beat a lot of teams who wanted to copy their style without the same weapons. If you try to run-n-gun you're way out of a game with them you will be smoked.
    But the bulls would transform this into a half-court game, slow pace, efficient buckets, try to be physical with them (we are bigger, longer, stronger) so we can draw fouls...
    4-2 to the bulls!

    Probably the closest thing to the Warriors in the era was the 93 Suns. That's when the Bulls showed they could defeat a high-octane modern offense. The Bulls match up incredibly well with Golden State. Pippen was still fully healthy and he was a better athlete than KD. Ron Harper gives them the ability to play a modern switching defense to handle Golden State's spacing. Ultimately the Bulls would physically impose their will on the Warriors like they did with everyone else.

    This debate is simple...........ppl who watched the 90's bulls and ppl who didnt. This was never close same as the jordan vs lebron debates. its fun to talk about but the reality is It would not be close. 3 guys who can arguably be considered top 10 defenseive players of all time. That is the difference. The gap between the offenses of the 2 teams when you include Kerr and Kukoc is not as far from the warriors as you think. However the gap in defenses is insanely huge. Even if the warriors finished 2nd that season. Other then Draymond. none of them will ever be considered great defenders. Add on coaching gap + Michael's killer instinct. Its GG before it starts.

    • @cubbdacrossfacecrippler
      @cubbdacrossfacecrippler ปีที่แล้ว

      I watched the 90s Bulls and know that MJ, Pippen and Kukoc however great wouldn't be enough offense to outscore the Warriors. Defensively the Bulls could compete but the Warriors also had great defenders with Iggy, Green, Durant, and Klay. Although the Bulls had great perimeter defense the defense of the 90s lined up inside the 3 point line and the PF and Center on the blocks. You have to guard the Warriors out to the hash mark and at the corners. Defensively the 90s guarded position by position today they would have to defend all over the floor and that would make a big difference because the Bulls would have to spend a lot more energy on Defense than they had to in the 90s.

If Curry was forced into having to defend as well, it doesn’t bode well for GSW. Also, Pippen could get up in KD. As you have seen, he tends to struggle against that. In paper the most successful Bulls campaign was the 1996 campaign. BUT in terms of the strength and depth of roster the 97 Bulls were the most loaded. 9 games prior to the start of the playoffs, they signed a Horace Grant 6'10 type of PF/C named Bison Dele/Brian Williams whos averaging 15.00ppg the season before with the Clippers? (After the season he signed with the Pistons and was averaging 16ppg and became the highest paid Pistons player in 1998). Kerr described him as the most gifted athletic big in the league, and he pointed out that the Bulls could not have won the title without him (Toni got hurt, he was not playing 100% and against the Jazz he was dunking with authority against the likes of Karl Malone from inside the paint). Having said that (comparing the Bulls 97 with the GSW 2017). Offensively they are all even, The GSW edge in perimeter shooting maybe negated by the Bulls inside presence. Not to mention that the Bulls got length in terms of Rebounds that may have the edge . Overall I think the Bulls would defeat the GSW, specifically in the defense department. And I have seen the GSW succumbed to the Cavaliers during the finals series when the CAVS applied defensive pressure .and turned the tide Klay and Steph missed even open shots because they got out of sync. Matchups Durant against Kukoc/Pippen Curry against Jordan/Pippen, Thompson. Harper/Jordan/ Green/Rodman. Questions: Whos going to guard Michael ? Whos going to guard Brian Williams? (Green may have a hard time guarding Brian, he`s taller, bigger (wide body), and also quick. Here are the links to give you a glimpse of Bison Dele/Brian Williams game/s th-cam.com/video/S37QqTovSa4/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/hpkz0XyLHH8/w-d-xo.html

    ‘96 Bulls win with ‘96 rules and ‘96 refs. KD would get shut down by Rodman. I think Steph and Klay could probably get a ton of open shots but they won’t be able to get stops on the other end. And eventually, Steph is gonna get beat up in a 7 game series.
    In 2017, with 2017 rules and refs, GSW have a really good chance of beating the Bulls. I grew up in Chicago in the ‘90s. That was my team, but if you can’t hand check and be physical, I don’t see how you guard the 2017 GSW.

    I feel like the bulls will win. Yes warriors will win in the 3 pt game but the 3 pt is not consistent and curry is not that type of player to knock down 8 per night. He have games like 1-13 and if were putting MJ on him I doubt he would even score more than 15 points. MJ also do not depend on the 3 pt but instead he is a midrange master. We seen DeMar do it many of times where his midrange is literally unguardable on some plays. MJ is way better than DeMar with his play-style, mans was flying. If DeMar is getting foul like 8+ per game then imagine MJ because his era was tough so imagine how many free throws MJ would attempt. I also doubt that KD and Draymond can guard him both at the same time.
    Now lets get to defense. Bulls defense is still good. They need to learn to contest shots and readjust to the new era. MJ will readjust to the new era easily due to his mentality and competitiveness. Its hard to compare the old and new era defense.
    Also if the bulls shoot more 3s, I think they would be on par with warriors in consistency. They should anyway bc rodman is rodman.

I bet even the golden state crowd would cheer slightly for the bulls and that style of play of Jordan than the way they play now a days. That will definitely tip the balance in favor of the Bulls... Add to that the insatiable quest for winning from Jordan and bulls can't be beat. Adding that Jordan came back from his defeat super motivated.

    Between these two teams it would all come down to defense and the Bulls had that on lock. We don't even have to talk about scoring the Bulls wouldn't have had any problems scoring. Let's talk defense especially the 95-96 Bulls defense that I believe ranked in the top 3 if not the best defense in the league that year. A team that pressured their opponents from end to end I mean suffocating them. If I remember correctly Pippen Jordan and Rodman were all voted NBA All-Defensive team that year. The Warriors would've ran into a major problem against that bulls stifling defense. That frontcourt pressure just gave teams fits. Let's not forget Rodman is one of the original Bad Boys and never had problem getting physical. The job he was able to do in the ecf series against Shaq at only 6'7 was amazing. The credit definitely goes to the defensive mastermind Johnny Bach who was responsible for laying the foundation.

    First, the Bulls starting 5 were all elite defenders and never would have doubled any of the warriors. The warriors only advantage is their offense but defensively they would be liability. The Bull were accustomed to tough physical defense against them which the warriors don't know how to create simply because it was long sincr abolished befor they were ever in the league. The baby soft defense they would use on the Bulls would insultingly inefficient and lacking in potency. The warrior would rarely reach the basket on the drive because the Bulls were too potent on interior D so the Warriors would live and die at the 3 pt line. Jordan would guard Curry and Harper would guard Klay. Klay is a great shooter but far from consistany like curry. He's streaky. Kevin Durant is a great scorer but it's in the era of liw contact defense and we just watched the Celtics crush him in last yr's playoffs. Scottie would be a nightmare for Durant. Scotties defensive weakness was against fast, dynamic offensive players like kobe, Penny, Tracy Mcgrady. But Durant is tall and lainky, and no that quick. Scottie wouldn't be able to shit him down completely but he definitley give him hell. Drammond and Rodman is comical. Rodman litterally shut down a prime Shaq more than once plus he was a master manipulator and his specialty was getting under your skin. Drammond is not even close to being Shaq-ish. And that's just the starting 5. The bulls were extremely efficient scorers because the drove to the basket successfully quite often so they wouldn't rely on the 3. Jordan has the highest scoring average in NBA history without shooting 3's. If the Warrior have even 1 or 2 off nights from 3 land, it's a rap. My Timberwolves are not a strong defensive team and the warriors often have a really tough time against them. Jordan would force Curry to shoot half court 3 continuosly. Let's nkt forget that he led the league in syeals 3 x's and was top 5 every other season with the Bulls. He, Scottie and olajuwan are the only players to have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season and MJ did it twice. Bulls in 6

  • @jbhyip

    IMO it depends on the rules of yesterday vs today. If hand checking is allowed Bulls over W's 4 gms to 3. If touch fouls are counted as flagrant 1s like in today's NBA W's over Bulls 4 gms to 3.
    The 2021-22 Warriors play a triangle style offense. When I watch that team I can see the same player movement as Phil & Tex Winter ran bk in the 90's. They add more screens within their movements to get Steph open looks, but Steve Kerr has most def taken a pages out of Phil and Pops books. After the Bulls v Warriors gm in Calli I posted a comment saying this is how Billy Donovan should be running his offense, Triangle Style. A T Style offense would work with this Bulls roster because they have so many ball handlers and sniper shooters.

    I am a GSW homer, have loved the last decade of success. But, I am old enough to have seen those Bulls teams. I always rooted against them lol. At a certain point, you just gotta recognize greatness. There are certain probable outcomes where GSW beat Chicago. I mean, there are some permutations where Curry, KD, and Klay just shoot out of there minds, and its not really a stretch. But, if I had to bet, under any rules, 90s, or post-Otts...the Bulls win a majority of the series/contests. At the end of the day, one team has MJ, and one team does not.

  • @eddieG667
    @eddieG667 ปีที่แล้ว

    My answer before was that “it depends on which rules” But now, after seeing how well the 97 Bulls would switch on screens vs Utah and Indiana in 98, I change my stance and think the Bulls can beat the Warriors even with todays rules. They weren’t a typical 90s team that relied on a big man where you can create mismatches on switches. They had lineups where Kukoc or Rodman were the tallest players and they can get out on guards on the perimeter.
    While they definitely won’t play the 3 ball game, the analytics don’t tell you how inside shots not only get the opponents in foul trouble, but they also allow for better offensive rebounding position

    New gen players/fans love to go off paper. If you go off paper this if you go off paper that. But for some odd reason they fail to realize that “off paper” teams just about never win championships. If that was the case KD would have at least a few more rings as he’s been on multiple Las Vegas favorites to win a chip teams. Curry would say they’d win in 6 bc he doesn’t think in reality. He thinks on paper. He doesn’t even take into account of his own past final struggles to which it would be very highly likely that he would struggle again in this final. Just think, if he had troubles playing against those teams in the finals, what you think would happen against an all time great defensive team like the Bulls who were long and athletic AF. Its highly likely that it would be more of the same. So yeah on paper the warriors look great. But in reality if you look at their squad you can clearly see that all of their core players has struggled in Big Games as they all have lost a finals in their careers. You know who hadn’t struggled in big games and has never lost a finals or even gotten to a game 7??? EXACTLY!! Ppl love to fantasize about what’s “on paper” so much so that they disregard logic and even what they’ve seen with their own 2 eyes. The Bulls were never paper champs, they were “We Doing this sh*t on the floor” champs!!! Now although I feel like I made a great case buy spitting straight facts, I do understand that the actual question just comes down to a matter of a opinion. And yes I’d be a fool to deny the Warriors a chance to win. I jus give them a very small small chance. Blessings!!!

    This is what it would be:
    1996 NBA Rules - The physical and harrassment the Golden State Warriors will get with all the physicality offense and defense of that era would break them.
    2017 NBA Rules - They Will make MJ, Pippen & Rodman even more unguardable.
    Jordan, Pippen & Rodman played when there was no 3 in the key on defense. Everytime they went to the paint Jordan had the best shot blockers of all time plus a crowded paint waiting on him and it didn't faze him at all. Now? Now the paint is wide open!
    First, the 11x championship "Triangle offense" was designed against zone. Second, MJ is medium range shooter he will be taking lots of those if no one bodies him up.
    What do you think zone does? It protects an area in the court which is primarily the inside lane. That will only limit the offense from coming in but without a legit defensive center that will not be as effective.

    I dont see how people think that the 96' Bulls wouldn't have the aptitude to dismantle the Warriors. The Warriors coach, Steve Kerr had enough aptitude to coach them into a great team. Steve Kerr wasn't even a starter on the Bulls and yet look at how his mind worked to place the Warriors into a different class of team. That should tell us something especially about the intangibles that you cannot account for. They were students of the game. The Bulls would be more than able to adapt and game plan to beat the Warriors contrary to what anybody is thinking. Again if Kerr from that era of play can coach in this era it shows the mental aptitude as a student of the game and he played with other players thst have that same aptitude. Iron sharpeneth iron my friends. Bulls any and all the time.

    Even after dropping the Herman Munsters, the Bulls are still left with too many one-way players. There’s a reason you don’t see many one-way players getting significant minutes on good teams anymore.

    You had to experience the physical nature of the game back then. Statistics doesn’t reveal how they would match up. Many of us saw some tooth and nail games where fast past high scoring teams were shut down. It came down to who was better at chess, of which Michael was a master. The warriors would need to master the half court game to stand a chance against the bulls. The west had high scoring teams in the 90’s that couldn’t win the long game against the bulls. In todays game MJ would score more and draw more fouls.
