@@jwil2414 you clearly don't know what you talking about. Lol Jordan played when there was no 3 in the key on defense. Everytime he went to the paint he had the best shot blockers of all time plus a crowded paint waiting on him and it didn't faze him at all. Now the paint is wide open.
@jwil2414 how lols. Zone? First l, triangle offense was designed against zone. Second, MJ is medium range shooter he will be taking lots of those if no one bodies him up. What do you think zone does? It protects an area in the court which is primarily the inside lane. That will only limit the offense from coming in but without a legit defensive center that will not be as effective.
It'll be weird seeing two versions of Steve Kerr. The basketball player and the coach. To me, I think Phil Jackson would out coach Steve Kerr because Phil basically taught everything he knows to Steve.
@@izzyproduxsteve could barely string two chips together while phil got 3 three-peats.. I'm pretty sure phil can handle anything that steve can throw at him and the bulls..
What people forget, is how the bulls played full court defense for long period of streetches (Rodman, Pippen, Jornda, Harper are fully capable of harrassing everyone), and the fact that the Triangule offense will provide a more steady efficient offense, which wouldn't allow GSW to have the same number of fast breaks as they had (making the full court press, easier) Look, GSW were a great team, but they beat a lot of teams who wanted to copy their style without the same weapons. If you try to run-n-gun you're way out of a game with them you will be smoked. But the bulls would transform this into a half-court game, slow pace, efficient buckets, try to be physical with them (we are bigger, longer, stronger) so we can draw fouls... 4-2 to the bulls!
@@jwil2414 i disagree. Houston in 2018 showed how to beat GS even with KD. GS won only cause CP3 got hurt in the close out game 6 at Houston. They had aggressive physical perimeter defenders, more physical than Curry, KD and Klay. The Bulls were even more athletic and physical than Hou so GS would’ve struggled even more especially since no one on Hou was even close to MJ.
@@ericlind6581KD would knock down jump shots in Rodman's face for 4 quarters. Remember Karl Malone averaged 23/10 when guarded by Rodman. KD would average 35 on one leg.
I’ve been saying that Mj is the difference imo in any conversation. They think kd is the greatest scorer ever? Try double/triple teaming Jordan except he knows how to score on those as well and he’ll outsmart you on everything
nah its impossibe to guard steph and jordan 1v1 no matter who it is. One is the goat and one is the best shooter of all time. It would be smarter to double both of them and leave zaza and rodman open lol
Yea MJ Didn't always guard Zeke back in the day so not so sure he'd be on Steph all the time especially 1996 MJ...zeke used to Break the Goats ankles during MJ Peak yrs 88 to 91 mind u.
I guess this tread has forgotten that Klay thompson EXISTS... yeah NO, @gordonworth he would switch on him thru out the game and focus on the last quarter.... the question YOU must ask and have an answer for is if Klay lights up Ron while he switches his defensive duties to him, Then What???
Probably the closest thing to the Warriors in the era was the 93 Suns. That's when the Bulls showed they could defeat a high-octane modern offense. The Bulls match up incredibly well with Golden State. Pippen was still fully healthy and he was a better athlete than KD. Ron Harper gives them the ability to play a modern switching defense to handle Golden State's spacing. Ultimately the Bulls would physically impose their will on the Warriors like they did with everyone else.
@jaylonsadler5641 - seems pretty accurate save Barkley. Sun's actually had an inside game. Ainge and Majorlie would take care of the 3s. Barkley is a skilled Green. KD is the X, KJ is the sun's X. So no, don't stop it, relax!
@JJJJ-he8bz - maybe, maybe not. Ainge and Majorle would keep up with steph and klay, for a while. Barkley would abuse Green. You put ceballos on Durant and pray he could at least slow him down
I'm siding with the 1995-1996 Season Chicago Bulls, no question. Why would I vote against my childhood? Besides, they were a well-oiled machine that played with heart and spirit.
@@philipstrotherjr8842 Yeah, pippen was close finishing 2nd in 1996 but Harper was never considered. He was a good defender but unsung compared to the others.
In my opinion it depends on the rules and style of play like you said. If the 17 Warriors played in the 90’s they’d get absolutely smoked. But if the 96 bulls played today against the 17 Warriors I don’t think they’d win as they rely on gritty play and hard defense.(which you can’t really do anymore) But then again they have MJ so who knows, bro a monster😭😂
@@thedon897 i would argue because 3 pt shots is not consistent. I gotta put reality first and curry is gonna get some bad games with his 3pt shooting and so will klay. I personally think the bulls win with this factor of how good the warriors will shoot the ball. Not to say the bulls got one of the best defensive guard (MJ) and still a good defensive team. Although the rules would be different I feel like they will be able to contest the 3 pt shots. It all depends on how curry and the warriors are feeling it.
This debate is simple...........ppl who watched the 90's bulls and ppl who didnt. This was never close same as the jordan vs lebron debates. its fun to talk about but the reality is It would not be close. 3 guys who can arguably be considered top 10 defenseive players of all time. That is the difference. The gap between the offenses of the 2 teams when you include Kerr and Kukoc is not as far from the warriors as you think. However the gap in defenses is insanely huge. Even if the warriors finished 2nd that season. Other then Draymond. none of them will ever be considered great defenders. Add on coaching gap + Michael's killer instinct. Its GG before it starts.
I watched the 90s Bulls and know that MJ, Pippen and Kukoc however great wouldn't be enough offense to outscore the Warriors. Defensively the Bulls could compete but the Warriors also had great defenders with Iggy, Green, Durant, and Klay. Although the Bulls had great perimeter defense the defense of the 90s lined up inside the 3 point line and the PF and Center on the blocks. You have to guard the Warriors out to the hash mark and at the corners. Defensively the 90s guarded position by position today they would have to defend all over the floor and that would make a big difference because the Bulls would have to spend a lot more energy on Defense than they had to in the 90s.
The Bulls will switch everything. MJ Pippen Harper Will switch on those screens for Klay and Curry while Rodman would make Draymond a non factor. It will come down to who out scores who KD or Jordan and I’m going with MJ.
I know this...I'm glad I'm old enough to witness the 80's and 90's overall. After those decades seems like everything went to shit. We got to witness two of the most awesome decades ever.
Duuuuude, some of those highlights of the role players are incredible. Jud with the slam, Kerr breaking ankles. Lol. Also, I agree with your analysis... the Bulls would have found a way, for sure.
I just watched Game 6 of 98 series and thats exactly what I saw was the pace was a lot slower from everyone. Its whether the Bulls D could withstand the barrage of GSW. A test for sure but I got Bulls in 6-7. Bigger and stronger would wear Warriors down.
Great Defense usually overcomes great Offense my example would be Detroit an LA 88 89!! Of course any Championship team has Great Defense or they wouldn't be holding the thrown!! SOME JUST A LOT BETTER THAN OTHERS THATS why Bulls went on to dominate they learned this from Detroit then they Run into who else LA lol an then demonstrate wat they had learned in the eastern with a Team like Detroit at the top..
@@jaylonsadler5641 Yes they were. No player in the starting line up was shorter than 6'6 and Longley was 7'2 and weighed 260 lbs. Longley had to have the strength to match up with true centers daily unlike 2017 Pachulia. Rodman kept Shaq off the block...don't think draymond's doing that. Off the bench the Bulls had a 6'11 Kukoc and every player was 6'6" or taller but steve kerr and randy brown, warriors had 3 players under 6'6". Bulls had 4 players 198 lbs or less, the Warriors had 5..including the smallest player. The bulls were bigger and stronger in just about every sense.
Great video. Sorry, I'm bias: Bulls in 5!!! Like you said, with all the hand-checking rules now, Jordan would do very well today. The GOAT would have averaged over 40 in a modern day series against the 2017 Warriors. Rodman would have been unstoppable on the boards; he would have psychologically dominated Green and then beat him on the boards.
MJ Isn’t averaging 40 in this era, sorry. Hand checking is cute but illegal defense being removed in 2001 is the biggest change, schematically, the NBA has seen.
Yall gotta chill on that 3 point percentage thing cuz they only took open shots. Not saying it discredits any of the bulls percentage but u cant say they were better and just didnt take the shots. Look at the warriors percentage on open shots, its almost 50% from almost everyone the starting five. Exception being draymond with 37% but everyone else was high forties. And draymonds shooting percentage is still 2% above the league average, and by far not the best part of draymonds game
In paper the most successful Bulls campaign was the 1996 campaign. BUT in terms of the strength and depth of roster the 97 Bulls were the most loaded. 9 games prior to the start of the playoffs, they signed a Horace Grant 6'10 type of PF/C named Bison Dele/Brian Williams whos averaging 15.00ppg the season before with the Clippers? (After the season he signed with the Pistons and was averaging 16ppg and became the highest paid Pistons player in 1998). Kerr described him as the most gifted athletic big in the league, and he pointed out that the Bulls could not have won the title without him (Toni got hurt, he was not playing 100% and against the Jazz he was dunking with authority against the likes of Karl Malone from inside the paint). Having said that (comparing the Bulls 97 with the GSW 2017). Offensively they are all even, The GSW edge in perimeter shooting maybe negated by the Bulls inside presence. Not to mention that the Bulls got length in terms of Rebounds that may have the edge . Overall I think the Bulls would defeat the GSW, specifically in the defense department. And I have seen the GSW succumbed to the Cavaliers during the finals series when the CAVS applied defensive pressure .and turned the tide Klay and Steph missed even open shots because they got out of sync. Matchups Durant against Kukoc/Pippen Curry against Jordan/Pippen, Thompson. Harper/Jordan/ Green/Rodman. Questions: Whos going to guard Michael ? Whos going to guard Brian Williams? (Green may have a hard time guarding Brian, he`s taller, bigger (wide body), and also quick. Here are the links to give you a glimpse of Bison Dele/Brian Williams game/s th-cam.com/video/S37QqTovSa4/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/hpkz0XyLHH8/w-d-xo.html
You are 100% right & I honestly forgot all about that guy & he did play a huge role in one of those Bulls Championship runs & if my memory serves me correctly ( was he a left handed player ? 😳 ) but in any case, he was definitely a great pick up for the Bulls, as well as a very tough person to guard in the painted area ? And to be truthful, I have MJ averaging about 45 under the old rules, but with todays rules, VS a Team like Golden State, he would average about 50 points per game. ✌🏾
Iggy klay and Draymond would of taken turns on jordan. Would of they of stopped him? That's not the task, its contain him. Curry guard Harper or Rodman. But warriors have always played good team defense so it really dosent matter. It's tough too because we are in a illegal defense era and not, how would the rules be?
You undersell Harper vs Curry. Harper was a premier perimeter defender and a 20 point scorer before joining Chicago. If Curry was forced into having to defend as well, it doesn’t bode well for GSW. Also, Pippen could get up in KD. As you have seen, he tends to struggle against that. Also, Pippen and Rodman would have been able to switch back and forth during the game with who they guarded. Mike and Harper too. Without any drop off.
2017 Warriors have a chance if Old Kerr remembers what Young Kerr lived through and Old Kerr communicates how the game played out and the Warriors execute effectively based on Old Kerr's knowledge of the game he already played as Young Kerr.
I think people draw a lot of attention to the KD warriors because of their record, I think there should be more debates of championship teams such as 1997-98 Bulls or the 2001-02 Lakers in a 7 game series. (I have bulls in 6)
This is hilarious. The average NBA player is much more athletic and trained by the time they reach the pros than previous eras. It’s indisputable. Attributing breakthroughs in sports science and training to the removal of the most overrated and over-talked rule in the NBA’s history is comical.
Hand checking isn't as big of a deal as people try to make it. Players would just use it like they did before they abolished it. On top of that the Warriors would be able to hand check too. Think about this if the Bulls had to use checking to help keep players in front of them and the warriors don't have to then who's really the better defenders.
IMO it depends on the rules of yesterday vs today. If hand checking is allowed Bulls over W's 4 gms to 3. If touch fouls are counted as flagrant 1s like in today's NBA W's over Bulls 4 gms to 3. The 2021-22 Warriors play a triangle style offense. When I watch that team I can see the same player movement as Phil & Tex Winter ran bk in the 90's. They add more screens within their movements to get Steph open looks, but Steve Kerr has most def taken a pages out of Phil and Pops books. After the Bulls v Warriors gm in Calli I posted a comment saying this is how Billy Donovan should be running his offense, Triangle Style. A T Style offense would work with this Bulls roster because they have so many ball handlers and sniper shooters.
I feel like the bulls will win. Yes warriors will win in the 3 pt game but the 3 pt is not consistent and curry is not that type of player to knock down 8 per night. He have games like 1-13 and if were putting MJ on him I doubt he would even score more than 15 points. MJ also do not depend on the 3 pt but instead he is a midrange master. We seen DeMar do it many of times where his midrange is literally unguardable on some plays. MJ is way better than DeMar with his play-style, mans was flying. If DeMar is getting foul like 8+ per game then imagine MJ because his era was tough so imagine how many free throws MJ would attempt. I also doubt that KD and Draymond can guard him both at the same time. Now lets get to defense. Bulls defense is still good. They need to learn to contest shots and readjust to the new era. MJ will readjust to the new era easily due to his mentality and competitiveness. Its hard to compare the old and new era defense. Also if the bulls shoot more 3s, I think they would be on par with warriors in consistency. They should anyway bc rodman is rodman.
Between these two teams it would all come down to defense and the Bulls had that on lock. We don't even have to talk about scoring the Bulls wouldn't have had any problems scoring. Let's talk defense especially the 95-96 Bulls defense that I believe ranked in the top 3 if not the best defense in the league that year. A team that pressured their opponents from end to end I mean suffocating them. If I remember correctly Pippen Jordan and Rodman were all voted NBA All-Defensive team that year. The Warriors would've ran into a major problem against that bulls stifling defense. That frontcourt pressure just gave teams fits. Let's not forget Rodman is one of the original Bad Boys and never had problem getting physical. The job he was able to do in the ecf series against Shaq at only 6'7 was amazing. The credit definitely goes to the defensive mastermind Johnny Bach who was responsible for laying the foundation.
Longley gets a bad rap because he's so low on top centers all time. Even MJ talked about the bulls center problem and feared facing top center teams like the rockets with Hakeem. GS would wins more often than not because the warrior bench is better than the bulls. I give the bulls starting roster the edge. Ron v Curry, Ron can defend that man well being so much taller but he can't completely stop him, Curry wins only slightly. He won't stop him but he'll do the job well enough to exhaust him. MJ v Klay, MJ will dominate him but Klay would do a decent job gassing him. Pippen v KD, you can't stop KD but Pippen would be decent at gassing him. Kukoc v Iggy, they're about even. I would give it to Iggy but Kukoc is really good at 3s and D but did you know that man is 6' 11"?? No they're pretty much equal. Rodman v green, green is the poor man's Rodman so Rodman wins but it would be interesting. Now this is why the warriors would win, the bench of GS is J McGee, M Barnes, and Looney vs the bulls bench of Kerr and Longley. If it's just the starting 5 then the bulls win more often than not but if you include the bench then the bulls can't get proper rest and the warriors win more often than not. Kerr+Longley is nowhere close to Looney, Barnes, and McGee.
‘96 Bulls win with ‘96 rules and ‘96 refs. KD would get shut down by Rodman. I think Steph and Klay could probably get a ton of open shots but they won’t be able to get stops on the other end. And eventually, Steph is gonna get beat up in a 7 game series. In 2017, with 2017 rules and refs, GSW have a really good chance of beating the Bulls. I grew up in Chicago in the ‘90s. That was my team, but if you can’t hand check and be physical, I don’t see how you guard the 2017 GSW.
If it's with today's rule. I think this series would go to game 7, and be the first Game 7 finals that MJ would have. Game 7 would be a coin flip for either team.
Do agree Bulls win, but the 3P% isn't a real argument, because the Warriors are doing it on far higher volume, and the 3-pt line was shorter in 1995-96.
Yeah bulls iso defense is stopping the warriors kd is feasting on whoever guards him. Whoever is guarding curry is getting torched klay is one of the best spot up shooters ever. Bulls never win the series but they might not get swept Swear yall lack critical thinking smh
This is what it would be: 1996 NBA Rules - The physical and harrassment the Golden State Warriors will get with all the physicality offense and defense of that era would break them. 2017 NBA Rules - They Will make MJ, Pippen & Rodman even more unguardable. Jordan, Pippen & Rodman played when there was no 3 in the key on defense. Everytime they went to the paint Jordan had the best shot blockers of all time plus a crowded paint waiting on him and it didn't faze him at all. Now? Now the paint is wide open! First, the 11x championship "Triangle offense" was designed against zone. Second, MJ is medium range shooter he will be taking lots of those if no one bodies him up. What do you think zone does? It protects an area in the court which is primarily the inside lane. That will only limit the offense from coming in but without a legit defensive center that will not be as effective.
You wouldn't double team Kevin Durant. The Clippers took that warriors team 6 with Pat Bev, Lou Williams, and Montrelz Harrell as the main core of the team. Kawhi Leonard had them down 21 points before as I injured him for the series. The Houston Rockets had them down 3-2 before Chris Paul got injured. Are any of those teams or players better than The 96 Bulls?
New gen players/fans love to go off paper. If you go off paper this if you go off paper that. But for some odd reason they fail to realize that “off paper” teams just about never win championships. If that was the case KD would have at least a few more rings as he’s been on multiple Las Vegas favorites to win a chip teams. Curry would say they’d win in 6 bc he doesn’t think in reality. He thinks on paper. He doesn’t even take into account of his own past final struggles to which it would be very highly likely that he would struggle again in this final. Just think, if he had troubles playing against those teams in the finals, what you think would happen against an all time great defensive team like the Bulls who were long and athletic AF. Its highly likely that it would be more of the same. So yeah on paper the warriors look great. But in reality if you look at their squad you can clearly see that all of their core players has struggled in Big Games as they all have lost a finals in their careers. You know who hadn’t struggled in big games and has never lost a finals or even gotten to a game 7??? EXACTLY!! Ppl love to fantasize about what’s “on paper” so much so that they disregard logic and even what they’ve seen with their own 2 eyes. The Bulls were never paper champs, they were “We Doing this sh*t on the floor” champs!!! Now although I feel like I made a great case buy spitting straight facts, I do understand that the actual question just comes down to a matter of a opinion. And yes I’d be a fool to deny the Warriors a chance to win. I jus give them a very small small chance. Blessings!!!
One thing no one mentions.... Who would you think the public liked more to watch? I bet even the golden state crowd would cheer slightly for the bulls and that style of play of Jordan than the way they play now a days. That will definitely tip the balance in favor of the Bulls... Add to that the insatiable quest for winning from Jordan and bulls can't be beat. Adding that Jordan came back from his defeat super motivated.
I am a GSW homer, have loved the last decade of success. But, I am old enough to have seen those Bulls teams. I always rooted against them lol. At a certain point, you just gotta recognize greatness. There are certain probable outcomes where GSW beat Chicago. I mean, there are some permutations where Curry, KD, and Klay just shoot out of there minds, and its not really a stretch. But, if I had to bet, under any rules, 90s, or post-Otts...the Bulls win a majority of the series/contests. At the end of the day, one team has MJ, and one team does not.
It will be depend on which rules they will be playing on. with 90s rules GSW will have hard time scoring like they do now. with current rules MJ will be scoring like a machine in every single match easily 40+ average. Yes GSW can out score with 3s if they somehow barrage the Bulls, but for how many games can they actually score 80+ with 3s? They obviously have no chance in the paint.
The Bulls would get bodied. They never had to face a team close to the Warriors. The warriors won 73 games and broke the bulls record and won 2 championships without even having Kevin Durant. With Kevin Durant it’s physically impossible to beat that team without an injury. The bulls never had to defend a player like Labron, Durant, Melo or Curry. I keep hearing Jordan would average so many points but that’s 1 guy vs 3 guys that could score just as much if not more. The warriors 3 option freaking scored 37 points in a single quarter on his own.
They guarded Jordan in practice every day. So they guarded someone better than all those guys you named. Bulls would win in 5 with 96 rules and in 6 with today's rules. Someone would say something to piss Jordan off and it would be over
Every era of the NBA had different rules as today NBA rules because over the years time passed and they had to adjust to the eras but there are a lot of great players but their even better teams that make a franchise great and successful too.
My answer before was that “it depends on which rules” But now, after seeing how well the 97 Bulls would switch on screens vs Utah and Indiana in 98, I change my stance and think the Bulls can beat the Warriors even with todays rules. They weren’t a typical 90s team that relied on a big man where you can create mismatches on switches. They had lineups where Kukoc or Rodman were the tallest players and they can get out on guards on the perimeter. While they definitely won’t play the 3 ball game, the analytics don’t tell you how inside shots not only get the opponents in foul trouble, but they also allow for better offensive rebounding position
yeah the bulls played small before anyone else and they played small without actually going small. they had some of the lengthiest players and were all between 6'6 and 6'11".
@@scottb3034 yup. Phil Jackson explained in a recent interview with Scott Williams that with Pippen, they were able to stop Detroit’s pick and pop plays with Laimbeer or one of the guards up top
First, the Bulls starting 5 were all elite defenders and never would have doubled any of the warriors. The warriors only advantage is their offense but defensively they would be liability. The Bull were accustomed to tough physical defense against them which the warriors don't know how to create simply because it was long sincr abolished befor they were ever in the league. The baby soft defense they would use on the Bulls would insultingly inefficient and lacking in potency. The warrior would rarely reach the basket on the drive because the Bulls were too potent on interior D so the Warriors would live and die at the 3 pt line. Jordan would guard Curry and Harper would guard Klay. Klay is a great shooter but far from consistany like curry. He's streaky. Kevin Durant is a great scorer but it's in the era of liw contact defense and we just watched the Celtics crush him in last yr's playoffs. Scottie would be a nightmare for Durant. Scotties defensive weakness was against fast, dynamic offensive players like kobe, Penny, Tracy Mcgrady. But Durant is tall and lainky, and no that quick. Scottie wouldn't be able to shit him down completely but he definitley give him hell. Drammond and Rodman is comical. Rodman litterally shut down a prime Shaq more than once plus he was a master manipulator and his specialty was getting under your skin. Drammond is not even close to being Shaq-ish. And that's just the starting 5. The bulls were extremely efficient scorers because the drove to the basket successfully quite often so they wouldn't rely on the 3. Jordan has the highest scoring average in NBA history without shooting 3's. If the Warrior have even 1 or 2 off nights from 3 land, it's a rap. My Timberwolves are not a strong defensive team and the warriors often have a really tough time against them. Jordan would force Curry to shoot half court 3 continuosly. Let's nkt forget that he led the league in syeals 3 x's and was top 5 every other season with the Bulls. He, Scottie and olajuwan are the only players to have 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season and MJ did it twice. Bulls in 6
You wouldn't double team Kevin Durant. The way he scores doesn't require it.
You wouldn't double team kd bc you're leaving a better scorer 1v1 or open for 3. Kawhi had the warriors down 21 and lost earlier that season also. Third quarters were always the time warriors blasted the other team away. The rockets had them down with a starter, iggy missing.
Its Rodman over Raymond by a mile - Draymond would go insane and get suspended. Rodman would keep his cool and laugh his ass off. . And NOBODY ever will be the competitor that MJ was. MJ would find a way.
NO HAY FORMA DE QUE UN EQUIPO ACTUAL PUDIERAN CON ESE EQUIPO DE LOS BULL.. ademas la presión con la que jugaban esos jugadores de los 90 . No es la misma que ahora.
Because I've watch both teams play I feel the bulls would win because they could switch on defence no matter who had ball cause they all were good defenders 6.6 or taller and curry could not stop any one that posted him up and that is the biggest mismatch and difference in this series
You had to experience the physical nature of the game back then. Statistics doesn’t reveal how they would match up. Many of us saw some tooth and nail games where fast past high scoring teams were shut down. It came down to who was better at chess, of which Michael was a master. The warriors would need to master the half court game to stand a chance against the bulls. The west had high scoring teams in the 90’s that couldn’t win the long game against the bulls. In todays game MJ would score more and draw more fouls.
Scottie was very good at shutting down point guards. I would put Scottie on Steph and Dennis on KD. The beauty of the 96 Bulls was that they had 4 elite defenders that could defend multiple positions.
I concur with these analyses. And in my personal opinion, the bulls all the way, the game rules, play style, gives the bulls the advatage no doubt. and in my opinion, if jordan hadnt retired due to the tragic death of his father (still unsolved basically), the bulls would or may have had an eigh win streak, possibly ten if jerry hadnt fired phil. my opinion. and i think the stats can back it up somewhat.
We always compare the 1996 Bulls, who I think would beat the 2017 Warriors. I also think the 1991 - 1993 Bulls would win. MJ, Pippien, Grant. Youth vs Youth. Paxon, BJ, Cartwright, Hodges, Will Purdue, Stacey King.etc.
i think one factor not highlighted enough is how physically dominant the 96 bulls were. from 88 to 90, they kept losing to the bad boys of pistons. so they buffed starting with jordan, until by 91 they were the physically superior team. and they maintained this physicality thus dominating this game for a 3peat. by 96, this team was a battle hardened monster. then, put the gsw team, who is used to playing safely, in 96. i imagine they would be bullied and crushed in a sweep. well, that's just me and my imagination.
Honestly the 2001 lakers would have me more scared than GS. Their shooting is sick... but that's their gimmick. Take that way, and they are a mediocre team at best. Kwahi ALONE was making them eat crow. Then he gets "injured".... riiiiiight!
I revered the Golden State Warriors from 2015-thru-2019, and I couldn't stand the Chicago Bulls during the 1990's. However, looking at this objectively, I will have to pick the Bulls over the Warriors in 7 games.
I think the biggest factor is the rules. If real defense is allowed.. the physicality and lack of space would have the warriors so rattled I doubt the long rang accuracy would be what everyone expects. You see what happened to KD when the Celtics played physical defense on him last year? He was totally thrown off. Jordan would completely dismantle the warriors mentally.. not to mention Rodman an Pipp. It was a brute man's game in the 90s.
Imagine
1996 Rules - the harrassment the Warriors will get with all the physicality of that era
2017 Rules - they'll make MJ even more unguardable.
MJ would cry if he had to play in an era without illegal defense.
Jordan would be easier to guard in 2017. They could play zone on him instead of 1on1. They would at minimum box and 1 Jordan.

Steve went under Pop after....could have been much improved
@@izzyproduxsteve could barely string two chips together while phil got 3 three-peats.. I'm pretty sure phil can handle anything that steve can throw at him and the bulls..
@@userjlj people like to say "Kerr knew the Bulls weaknesses, he could exploit them..." so ridiculous lol
What people forget, is how the bulls played full court defense for long period of streetches (Rodman, Pippen, Jornda, Harper are fully capable of harrassing everyone), and the fact that the Triangule offense will provide a more steady efficient offense, which wouldn't allow GSW to have the same number of fast breaks as they had (making the full court press, easier)
Look, GSW were a great team, but they beat a lot of teams who wanted to copy their style without the same weapons. If you try to run-n-gun you're way out of a game with them you will be smoked.
But the bulls would transform this into a half-court game, slow pace, efficient buckets, try to be physical with them (we are bigger, longer, stronger) so we can draw fouls...
4-2 to the bulls!
Bottom line. Bulls can guard GS, GS can’t guard Bulls. End of story.
The wouldn't be able to do that against the Warriors. 2017 Warriors had ball movement like Bird's Celtics did with addition of the 3 ball.
Exactly a much stronger team to.
@@ericlind6581KD would knock down jump shots in Rodman's face for 4 quarters. Remember Karl Malone averaged 23/10 when guarded by Rodman. KD would average 35 on one leg.

Stop it suns nowhere near golden state
@jaylonsadler5641 - seems pretty accurate save Barkley. Sun's actually had an inside game. Ainge and Majorlie would take care of the 3s. Barkley is a skilled Green. KD is the X, KJ is the sun's X. So no, don't stop it, relax!

MJ, Pippen and Rodman were on the all defensive team, is what you're thinking of
In my opinion it depends on the rules and style of play like you said. If the 17 Warriors played in the 90’s they’d get absolutely smoked. But if the 96 bulls played today against the 17 Warriors I don’t think they’d win as they rely on gritty play and hard defense.(which you can’t really do anymore) But then again they have MJ so who knows, bro a monster😭😂
hahaha, that's the thing man. It's MJ, like I'm never going to bet against MJ

He’s not out of his mind but I’d take bulls in 7
Curry is out of his mind
When did the Bulls, or ANY team, from that era switch on defense? 😂 That shit was ILLEGAL.
Harper guarding Steph ? 😂😂😂 This is not 2k
@@Tziumannu87 Jordan Pippen and Harper all taking turns and switching off Steph klay and KD

I know this...I'm glad I'm old enough to witness the 80's and 90's overall. After those decades seems like everything went to shit. We got to witness two of the most awesome decades ever.

The 80s, 90s and the 1st decade of this century basketball was much more aggressive than it is now.
Duuuuude, some of those highlights of the role players are incredible. Jud with the slam, Kerr breaking ankles. Lol. Also, I agree with your analysis... the Bulls would have found a way, for sure.
Hahaha, thanks my man! I had to do some deep searching on TH-cam to find them
I just watched Game 6 of 98 series and thats exactly what I saw was the pace was a lot slower from everyone. Its whether the Bulls D could withstand the barrage of GSW. A test for sure but I got Bulls in 6-7. Bigger and stronger would wear Warriors down.
They are not bigger or stronger
like you said its the finals one wrong move can turn in to TO so basically, doing what they can keep the game into a minimal

I don't care if there were 3 Currys and 2 Durants on that squad, they're not beating DAAAAH BULLS!!!

The Bulls in 6, hands down.
Just remember guys when the piston try to stop Jordan in 89 90 they were sending the whole team at him

Sad wat Happend to Bison Dele I know he played for Detroit rite around same time period must not of been for long tho..
HARPER IS A SUPER-SMART DEFENDER
2017 Warriors have a chance if Old Kerr remembers what Young Kerr lived through and Old Kerr communicates how the game played out and the Warriors execute effectively based on Old Kerr's knowledge of the game he already played as Young Kerr.
It would be an epic series that’s for sure. I’m curious how Steve Kerr responds to this question after he retires from coaching the Warriors.
Bulls in 4
Thats true, he's the one guy who could give the most accurate answer
If the 2018 Rockets almost beat the 2018 warriors then 1996 Bulls will beat them becaee the 1996 Bulls will sweep the Rockets
Great breakdown
I think people draw a lot of attention to the KD warriors because of their record, I think there should be more debates of championship teams such as 1997-98 Bulls or the 2001-02 Lakers in a 7 game series. (I have bulls in 6)
the early 2000s would beat bulls easily
Bro ignored the shortened three point line 😂
This is what I was scrolling for 😂
Dude the reason why today's nba looks "more athletic" is because of the hand checking rules
Everyone is forgetting that the Bulls was built for today’s NBA!!
I think MJ is much better than people think he was. He was unstoppable monster who could very easy adjust to today standards
Good video, more of this please💯💯
You got it! Glad you liked it!
Bulls in six playing in any Era under any rules Jordan wouldn't let them lose period.
The 3 point line was moved in closer in 1996. People never talk about that
This is a very rational and fair assessment.
Sooo...why did he avoid mentioning those bulls were shooting from the shortened 3 point line? Its like bragging about home runs in tee ball lol😂
If it's just the starting 5 then the bulls win more often than not but if you include the bench then
the bulls can't get proper rest and the warriors win more often than not.
Kerr+Longley is nowhere close to Looney, Barnes, and McGee.
Nobody in the middle to stop the Bulls! Dunks and high percentage shots win majority of the time. Defense wins championships
People forget Rodman could shoot. His job was defensive with bulls
25% and 19% from three in Detroit and San Antonio respectfully. Dude wasn’t a shooter stop making shit up.
1996 Chicago Bulls! ❤All Day
Do agree Bulls win, but the 3P% isn't a real argument, because the Warriors are doing it on far higher volume, and the 3-pt line was shorter in 1995-96.
Yeah bulls iso defense is stopping the warriors kd is feasting on whoever guards him. Whoever is guarding curry is getting torched klay is one of the best spot up shooters ever. Bulls never win the series but they might not get swept
Swear yall lack critical thinking smh
This is what it would be:
1996 NBA Rules - The physical and harrassment the Golden State Warriors will get with all the physicality offense and defense of that era would break them.
Even if they played with todays rules anybody out there really think Jordan wouldn’t shoot more 3’s and get better at it?
You wrote Bulls fan fiction.
A lot of great NBA players from each team and different eras on their accolades.
Man, you need to pick a team and stay with it AND WE ALL KNOW THE BULLS WOULD’VE SWEPT THE WARRIORS!!!😇
They went to six against the SuperSonics. You think they’d SWEEP this Warriors team? Sweet summer child. :)
All the bulls are sweeping is their floor
Someone would say something to piss Jordan off and it would be over
Get bodied, who on G.S. has a body? Young fella go look at 1992 Dream Team. Better yet Kobe would shut down every player you named.
Every era of the NBA had different rules as today NBA rules because over the years time passed and they had to adjust to the eras but there are a lot of great players but their even better teams that make a franchise great and successful too.
Just from toughness alone, the 1996 Bulls in 6.
Steve Kerr is the real winner in my opinion...he's part of both teams, even Jordan couldn't accomplish that lol...
You wouldn't double team kd bc you're leaving a better scorer 1v1 or open for 3.
Kawhi had the warriors down 21 and lost earlier that season also. Third quarters were always the time warriors blasted the other team away.
The rockets had them down with a starter, iggy missing.
Curry MIA in most of his finals is a crazy take that isn’t backed by stats. Solid video otherwise
Rodman was gonna press some buttoms. Cause some explosions.
Hello from the future. Worth noting that the 3 point line was moved in a few inches 1995-1997. Not that it mattered much.
96 Bulls was the greatest team of all time
The Bulls on lockdown mode 💪
96 bulls They were good in defense, plus they have 4 defensive specialists, Jordan, Pippen, Dennis and Ron, I would say bulls in 6 games
BULLS, MOST ESPECIALLY WITH 1996 RULES
The 3 point line was moved in. Nobody ever mentions that
Its Rodman over Raymond by a mile - Draymond would go insane and get suspended. Rodman would keep his cool and laugh his ass off. . And NOBODY ever will be the competitor that MJ was. MJ would find a way.
I agree 100%! MJ was the most competitive player I have ever seen, hands down! Larry (Legend) Bird was a very close second, in my book.
I hope everyone has a blessed day today.
BULLS, BULLS… BULLS!
But In the five finals that the golden state warriors appeared in they were 3 and 2 the bulls were 6 for 6 no contest
The Bulls played far weaker teams
Scottie was very good at shutting down point guards. I would put Scottie on Steph and Dennis on KD. The beauty of the 96 Bulls was that they had 4 elite defenders that could defend multiple positions.
Steph really want to be guarded by the Goat😆
Lol right?
That would be interesting to see as Jordan never guarded a player of the calibre of Steph. Always guarded average players who played at 2 like him.
bulls will win, in a 7 game series. warriors could beat them 2 or 3 times maybe in my opinion, but Michael Jordan was to great
Agreed, I still think it would be a competitive series, but Bulls would ultimately prevail
Bulls win fs 💪💪💪
No question!
Sooo, would Steve Kerr be playing, or coaching? Just asking for a friend (Popp/Blake).
Steve Kerr coach of 17 Warriors said that 96 Bulls would be even better in this era, imagine MJ space jam in this cup cake era
Honestly the 2001 lakers would have me more scared than GS. Their shooting is sick... but that's their gimmick. Take that way, and they are a mediocre team at best. Kwahi ALONE was making them eat crow. Then he gets "injured".... riiiiiight!
I ❤ Golden state but like André igudala and evan Turner i root 4 Bulls. There is no defense against MJ in the finals!
Which team won the NBA Championship for the respective seasons? Champions vs Non-Champions- This is a no brainer. Pick the champions.
