This looks like an exciting job, just broke my timing belt on the highway 900 miles away from home and got it towed back. Only 120k on the motor and 40k on the timing belt. Hoping to fix it and get it back on the road for another 200k at a minimum. Love the video!!
@@snoopy5736 Yep, quite a few bent valves. Every exhaust valve was bent, and a majority of the intakes. Pistons had some minor marks, but drove and ran great after the top end rebuild. 250 miles later I had rod knock, so it has been sitting in my garage since late December, while I've been trying to get the upper oil pan off to change the main as well as rod bearings
Very entertaining video, you also helped me out by showing me where the cams should be on the compression stroke +10000 likes for that, I bought an A6 from a kid who tried to do a timing belt and did not lock the crank down with the special tool, then he removed the cams on one head to replace the seals, which he did not have to do. He put it all back together and did not mark the cams properly and I know the crank moved, so now I know where to set the cams after I redo his job.
Hi, I would like to congratulate you for your video! I have a doubt with the socket that you used to remove the screws of the head, are RIBE M11? several people use the M10, however in the ETKA indicates that the screws in 2.8l, V6 engines are M11! this is very similar to the TORX T55, which one really should be used?
Hi, Your Videoes is very useful for me and I fully like it. I'm sell engine timing tools in China, but i don't know how to use it, your video let me suddenly see the light.
Haha I really like the energy from your videos man, keep it up!
I love your attitude brother! I get so ticked off at mechanical work! I'm not a Dr. Cuz I have no patience! Hahaha! Keep up the good bro.

How'd it go? Did the valves get damaged?

D B thank you! Glad to see it was helpful
Can this be done without removing the engine from the car? How long do you estimate it would take to remove the engine from the car?
Good question, did you ever do the job. Im wondering the same thing.
This guy is about as goofy as I am after working on German car for many years.
