  • Removing an aluminum Engine head on any car is very similar. There’s an order to take in the bolts out. Do you want to give that you had the best chance of not warping. The torque order to put the head on his reverse of removing the head. You don’t reuse the bolts because in the torquing process they get stretched out. It is a very Close tolerance torquing sequence

    FYI exhaust valves were the bent ones (par). Intake valves come in trios

    In the haynes manual it is mentioned to loosen the head bolts in reverse order of the tightening sequence

    You don't have to remove the exhaust manifold or the intake manifold with the cylinder head in place. It's a LOT easier to remove and install the exhaust manifold when you have the cylinder head on the bench.
    The intake manifold just needs to be moved to the side with almost everything attached.

    It's not torx that you need to remove it, that's why they get stuck, lts a #10 polydrive head bolt socket : assenmacher 3462 #10 polydrive

      There’s different ones for different years there either 12 point or torx

    Why did you start loosening it from the inside? I hope you were going to have it resurfaced anyway but still..
    Loosening from 10-1 tightening from 1-10

    If a piece ever gets stuck, rotate in the opposite direction to break it loose instead of tryn a wiggle it 😊

    Tou have the valve sets mixed up. The exhaust valves are 2 and the inlet are three. Always bigger inlet capacity on inlet compared to exhaust😊

    What size do I need for the head bolts.

      It's a specialty bolt you have to buy in a kit. Try felpro, that's what I used

      Yes, they tend to fail at the turbo charger and consume your oil, I would inspect for growling noise coming from the turbo itself, if unattended could lead to a fail engine, also the pcv vacuum hose are a coming failure to because they are made of plastic and break and deform causing vacuum leaks and what not, usually they sell the whole pcv system hose kit on the web, these are the most common things I find on these engines at the shop, it's bad turbos that lead to bad catalytic converter and very low oil pressure, and bad pcv system hoses that leak to crazy vacuum leaks, by bad I mean they are worn out.

      Ik this comment is really late, but if you haven't already, make sure you at least know when timing belt was done last. If you don't know, I'd say just change the belt. Mine just snapped on me and bent many of my valves. Wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

    Your supposed to go from 1 to 10 on loosing the head bolts, it's the exact opposite from the tightening order. Omg

    • @josefelix4152
      @josefelix4152 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...... Never done it that way and never had a problem because the machine shop resurfaces the head, it's wierd not to resurface it, but yeah that's what the manual says so I guess that's how it should be done....

      @@josefelix4152 I just used rough sandpaper on a perfectly flat piece of glass, then went to a more fine grit. I got the head flat that way lol
