So I didn’t really talk about it in the video, but that Xbox from GameStop had some weird stuff going on inside 😂 like screws missing, spliced wires, etc. and I’m 99% it was GameStop that did those things because the GameStop warranty sticker was still intact. I’m not surprised tho lol
I was just going to say that lol. Gamestop had this bright idea to hook the fans directly to the 12 volt line, so the fans run at full blast. They say that it would "last longer".
Any gamestop refurbished 360 is basically a goner. They bolted the heat sinks instead of using the x clamps and did the fan mod which makes the fan run at full speed at all times.
I watched a 12 yo open a 360 before I opened mine 10 years ago, he was very thorough. You don't have to put the top back on the disc drive, you can just remove the magnetic spindle cap out of the top of the disc drive casing and just set it on top of the disc right after the drive goes back in. There's just a silver plastic circle stuck to the top of the drive casing that can be peeled back to access the magnetic spindle cap. I kept one from one of my parts systems and just use that for any other drive I test, that way I don't have to peel that sticker back on every drive. The sticker has a very strong adhesive, so it can be placed back on the disc drive case quite a few times before the sticker stops being sticky. Doing it this way allows you to see the laser and how well it's working. A laser 'pot tweek' can bring life back to a dim blurry laser that stopped reading discs, and make it bright and dense again.
My dad did get a few xbox 360's back in 2007-8 and me and my brother got to play on one of them, later both of us got the slim version, but he still has like 5 white old xbox 360 and some of them might still have the blades dashboards. I know the one my brother and I had back in 2006, but sadly updated it as we played.
thats not good. i do the same as soon as we updated because of Kinect updates my xbox 360 without internet. ( believe it was game will automatically updates ? ) then we got internet later in 2012.
14:43 The service year being 2010 on this Xbox 360 with no HDMI port might mean that it has the rare Elpis Xbox 360 motherboard (if the console is powered with 203W)! Elpis was introduced by Microsoft to fix any faulty Xenon Xbox 360s that may have RROD'ed during their lifetime. Elpis was first introduced in mid 2009. They're basically modified Xenon mobos to fix the RROD problem, and Microsoft would continue to fix Xenon consoles with the Elpis board until 2011
I sold my og 360 years ago... I NEVER used the USB on the front so that little latch never broke on me... I didn't realize I had a selling point there 😆
It was always common for the front USB flap/cover on these original fat model xboxes to be broken. As they seemed to break very easily. As it was just held in place by a very small spring clip and tiny plastic side mounting pegs.
I'm pretty sure the 360 I have chilling in my office closet is one of the ones that doesn't have an hdmi as well. I don't know what dashboard it is on. It hasn't been used since I got the og launch one when it came out.
That’s what I’ve done plenty of times in the past, but something was up with the 2nd console. Something in the hole seemed to be blocking me from pushing the gears. It was weird. I should’ve tried it on console 1 though lol, I just completely forgot about it until console 2
@@jrob0021 yeah I saw with the second console was just whincing when you were tapping the first one, I love the 360’s I still have 2 original non HDMI models both working so always enjoy your Xbox videos.

A butter knife works better than banging on the top of them just FYI. My first 360 the disk drive would get stuck on and I would just hit the eject button while lightly prying in it with a butter knife and it would usually come open
Yes that you man, finally more xbox 360s. Those videos are my favorite. From goodwill or gamestop doesn't matter, if it's a 360, it's a good video for sure. Love your videos man keep it up.
i believe that 3rd console was actually an opus and not a xenon, cant really tell because youtube compression but it did not appear to have the center peg in the psu port
I see that you tried the same thing as me, which is looking at the power socket through TH-cam compression :). Jacob has confirm in an other comment that this console has indeed an Opus motherboard, which is quite rare.
I rememeber the rrod era, it was basically hold your breath when you turned the console on, wondering if you were gonna be a victim of red ring 😂 exciting times 😂😂
I enjoyed the video, very detailed and informative ty. I have a 360 that only plays some discs idk why but that's what brought me to your video. I am now really interested in the Delta 2 power supply. I have been wanting to set up video game consoles in a van and was wondering what the best power supply would be for that. I'm glad i came across your video and would like more information about the Delta 2 ty

The constant closing 360, i had the same issue, never thought to tap the top, i use a trusty butterknife lol then promptly sold it to a second hand store as scrap parts, as i got a series x to replace it. No clue what would cause the tray to freak out tho
I had one of the OG X-Boxes that had the blades dashboard, me and a friend were playing Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock with guitar bundle that I got for my birthday, the problem (out of 4) was the motherboard melted. problem 2, after shipping it to get fixed in Frankfurt, Germany, it came back working for a few months, and when i went to play it one day, i had the dreaded E74 error, telling me the graphics card has died, so back to Frankfurt it went for a new Jaspar motherboard, it again came back working and only 2 weeks of me receiving the console back, problem 3 was the Laser died, so I couldn't play any disc based games or play my music CDs. my uncle and his friend fixed the laser for me, which worked for a week, (no fault of their own) and this is the final problem before i gave up, my disc drive made a grinding noise. so it was a useless system riddled with problems. we got a pre-owned PlayStation 3 console, which had the disk take in spit-out take back in problem AFTER 3 YEARS of owning it. Sucks to be me, I guess, when it came to an Xbox 360, haha.
I still own 2 launch consoles.. Both somehow still work but one defo needs a few caps replaced.. Which i have a donor 360 for. I bought the heatsinks with the extra heatpip and heatsink and replaced the ones in my two after i did a repaste
I'm hoping to find a nxe dashboard console that's what I had in 2010 and I'm nostalgia for. Plus I just hate the metro dashboard which is what my current 360 has

I love how he calls it the ww2 Xbox

Iv'e always wondered where ALL the electronics at Goodwill went to!
Goodwill again? Oh no... I wonder if they are broken
If GameStop removed the heat sink screws on an early 360, that’s a common sign of a bolt mod. (Bad)
The person from GameStop that started the bolt mod should be put in jail for all the Xbox 360 consoles they ruined over the years.
