I went to private school and they really drilled study habits/strategies into our heads constantly. I haven't been in school since I left college in 2017, and I'm STILL pretty familiar with study strategies.

Care to Share what the strategies are? I went to public school and they expect you to just know or they just gave us the answers. 😂

I also teach A&P and agree with everything you said. I encourage my students to use an active study technique of teaching a concept during one of the review sessions. Students can spend 5- 10 minutes "teaching" a principle to a study partner or study group.

I had a teacher in high school who started teaching kids these techniques with his 8th graders.

You forgot to explain WHY you will fail, if you study the night before. Just saying so, doesn't make it so. And the reason is, is that coursework in anatomy (and its related function, physiology) are additive disciplines. As you learn the beginning blocks, that information will be needed later, to explain how they interconnect, relate to one another, and also serve to explain the systems, as you "build the human body." Then, sure, you can go into "tricks to remember" the order of cerebral nerves, or NAV (in what order arteries, veins, and nerves are found in situ, and generally, how each layer, region, or system works in and of itself, and how they relate to each other, or not (in pathophysiology). but the KEY OF WHY is that you cannot "study-exam-and-forget." You need to "study-understand-thoroughly-and-remember," as this information will be used over and over again.

My problem with studying, it could be the middle of the day time and I have my material in front of me and I end up falling asleep. It doesn’t matter if I had an 8 full hours the night before, I will end up falling asleep. IDK why.

One last KEY point. And it was news to me, but scientifically confirmed. Like Professor Moore said, you have to review this info --- during the day. Or more precisely, "review this information when your body is not tired." Why? Because you will remember it, as opposed to "crash studying all night" and forgetting that info the next day. And how did I realize this? "60 Minutes: The Science of Sleep." This 60 Minutes program, with this one hosted by Leslie Stahl will blow your mind. I didn't realize that students were actually DOING THE ABSOLUTELY WRONG THING by studying late at night through the early morning, to ready themselves for an exam. (That's what we always did, right?!) But, it's the exact worse thing you could do in order to retain/recall information. And I dare you to watch this episode. Again, mark my words, if you are a student NOW, you will hopefully take to heart what this 60 MINUTES episode will show you, and hopefully -- turn you into an "A student" by virtue of your change in sleep habits. That is, getting enough quantity and quality of sleep. (Look for that episode on TH-cam. It's the "60 Minutes" one with Stahl. Not the other ones.). Peace.
