My son, Bill, goes to gorgeous, tiny, little special needs school for gorgeous special children. Bill and his friends there all need just a little more care, attention, love and guidance to help them access friendships and education. Bill has autism (and a variety of other issues such as Sensory Processing Disorder, ADD, Dyspraxia, Global Developmental Delay and Klinefelters Syndrome) and most of his school mates have similar challenges as well as Dyslexia across the board. Bill's school is woefully underfunded for a variety of reasons that would take pages of text to explain. The teachers aren't well paid yet they are constantly buying supplies the children need that most pupils don't require; such as pen grips and fiddle toys to aid concentration etc...I have been fundraising for a few years now and with your help have managed to help subsidise school trips, buy sensory room equipment, Occupational Therapy equipment, outdoor tables and chairs, a trampoline...and a mini bus!! # billsspecialbus 🤩 We have a lot to pay for as the school moved premises and took on more pupils. This is all amazing news but means the pressure is on financially. All this fundraising helps a phenomenal school that has given so many children a future they would not have been able to access. Thank you so much for any kind of support you give us.

Oh my I love the sweater and so many projects you are working on or will start.The price for the raffle is amazing. I never had Lay Family yarn, so fingers crossed ! But the most important reason is that it is for Bil's school. Glad you are doing February video's.

Oh my1 What a treat to have you back with us this month - hooray! Your Ranunculus is gorgeous - the color is yummy. And I really enjoyed seeing all of your other projects. I went through my yarn stash last weekend - I don't have a lot but was able to weed out the few skeins I knew I would not enjoy knitting - and ladies at the knitting group were thrilled to get some free yarn! Wonderful!!! I love watching you! That trick with the embossing gun is awesome. I have a bunch of needles with little kitten tooth marks. That will smooth them right out and I don't have to continue cursing as my yarn catches on the rough spots.
I was ever so chuffed the heat smoothed out the catch in the cable. Yay!

I missed you Gayna! Don’t care what you talk about or for how long. You’ve inspired me to make a blue and white quilt - now finished and on my bed - and my first top down sweater - nearly finished. Love those baskets and the beautiful sheep bag and the mini skeins! If I won I think I’d just display them forever! Lots of love ❤️

Your vlog was just wonderful! I enjoyed every minute! That beret is fantastic. I want to make one, too!! I have no idea how you are not buying yarn. I have absolutely NO restraint these days. The winter colourways are so beautiful and just cannot say no. I've even stopped debating with myself before I click "submit" -- it is a waste of time as I always "win"! The prize for Bill's school is amazing. You have done such a wonderful job helping the school. Looking forward to the next vlog that I can see was posted a little bit ago! YAY!

Lovely to have you back again. Never too long - your easy going style just suits me while I knit along, or whatever. I always gain some nugget of knowledge, speaking as a relatively new knitter. I hadn’t realised you could weigh the wool to work out what to do with it. See - a new piece of information. If you’re able to do a daily chat in February that would be great to see us through what is still a relatively inhospitable part of the year. Xxx
Yes you can! You can weigh what you knitted and weigh what you have left and stab a guess at how much is left and what you might do with it. X

I can understand that! Kat has so much incredible knitting to share. I wish I could show as much but my time gets eaten into with my family, house, dogs and garden. Mind you, I think I’d tire of knitting if I did too much. I’m fickle like that!

Gayna, you could wash the fleece and pick out the vegetable matter and then use it as stuffing for pillows or stuffed toys like you would use a pillow or fiberfill.
Gayna, your vlogs are never dull. My December was crazily stressful with a house move and last minute Christmas prep while we unpacked and found our way round a new area. Watching your vlogs was my little oasis amidst it all. I love all your observations too. I've never got 'knitting on' either! I wonder if all our peculiarly British knitting terms will gradually die out?

Ah you’d cope with out me but I love the sentiment. My knitting always has mistakes and that is fine with me. Good enough is good enough. Why out pressure on ourselves? This is our enjoyable hobby that we retreat to when we want comfort. Let’s not spoil it with perfectionism.

I admire your "make do and mend" and repurposing philosophy. We have become such a throw away society.
Haven’t we just! It helps that I enjoy the process of mending, I imagine if a person didn’t enjoy it and didn’t know how then it wouldn’t be accessible to them. Also people are less prepared to spend money to get someone else to mend something when they can replace the item more cheaply. It’s got to change.

I just finished my half and half triangle wrap, it was a long long knit but it’s soooo squishy and good! Completed the Cottage Garden hat from Milarrochy Heids…what an amazing book, great chance to dip in for a little colour work without a lot of commitment. Enjoy!

So glad I found you and your amazingly cheerful and very funny personality. Heard of your channel whilst watching Ali (Little Drops). I loved watching throughout vlogmas. I’m relatively local to you in Somerset. I work frontline with the ambulance service SWAST and have done for nearly 20 years now! I regularly travel to Bristol and Bath hospitals. Oh yay! I love your gentle pootling videos - don’t need any thrills and spills round here! I love that beret, très chic. Watch out for Rialto, it GROWS! I knit a jumper for my boy when he was tiny and I think he finally grew out of it when he was about 10 as it just grew with him!
You are right and luckily I had half remembered that but your comment reassured me that though the beret knitted up quite small it would become the size I need. X
