Thanks Tilly, I also ham a small space that I'm constantly working on. I've had to been really creative coming up with storage and work areas. I had been looking at that table. Thanks for filling up the cap in my plans
@@tilliboomcosplayYou're so welcome! Just like with your desk/ironing table, my biggest priority is having furniture/tools that meet several functions. I use the Ikea BROR cart as a workspace and storage, but it tucks into my closet when not in use which helps me save floor space. Also, underbed storage containers are fantastic to eek out extra space for fabric!
Can you please talk a little bit about why you added the brown paper on top? What function does it serve? Also, where did you get the gray ironing pad? Is it padded? Did you design this yourself?
Hi! The Homasote board we put on top is soft enough to push pin into and sturdy. Due to how the board is made it can be pretty rough to touch and easily gets splinters. Putting the paper on top both protects you and the fabric you are working with. Let me know if you have any other questions on it. :) The gray ironing pad I got at Joanns. It does have a padding that comes with it to it to protect the table. It's the Sullivans Home Hobby Table Cover. It is slightly bigger than my table, but I don't have any issues with it. It has been great for me! Link here - www.joann.com/home-hobby-table-cover/13834643.html
@@tilliboomcosplay Thanks for taking the time to let me know about the ironing pad. I love this table. It'll be great for ironing, cutting patterns and putting my mat on to cut fabric.
Hi Ellen! Hmm IKEA hasn't posted a weight limit so I'm not sure. Even with the Homasote added someone has sat on it and it held up just fine. And they are around 125 pounds. How heavy is your machine?
@@tilliboomcosplay i'm also currently asking myself if it's a good idea to trust my Norden (birch) with heavier weight. I have a 30 KG (66 pound) CRT monitor which i want to put on one side for an extra PC setup. So not in the stable middle, where the drawers are, but on one of the sides where the weight is carried mainly by the gateleg and "only" the hinge on the other side. I wonder if this will work in the long run and not break after a while. So do you know if the person sat in the middle of the table or on one of the sides? I myself am far to heavy for trying that. ^^ What would be you opinion on it? Sure, it's 100% my responsibility, but an opinion would still be nice. 🙂Thank you so much!
Hi Barbara! Thank you so much. Sure the measurements are: 59 and 7/8 inches long fully open with both leafs 31 and 1/2 inches wide 28 and 3/8 inches tall to the bottom of the table
@@ellenhofer3343 Yeah it's great for small spaces, but if you machine is quite big you may want to look at a larger table. Although there may be more leaf table options if you want to go that route.
I have used this table for years in my sewing space. It’s awesome.
It is! I'm so impressed by it all the time. It's such a great table.

Absolutely! So happy you found it helpful!
Your video is short and to the point. Thank you for not turning it into a 15 minute video. 😊
Ha thanks, Nicole! I appreciate it!
Planning on getting this and add caster wheels on the bottom for a portable workstation
+E Ian Siew that's definitely the best move! I wish I had put them on mine.
Fellow small-space sewist here and I love this idea! Such a great use of space
Thank you so much, Laurel! It's been a huge game changer. Any other recommendations you'd have to a fellow small space sewer?

Oh that's a great idea with the cart! And great minds think alike. I also have my extra fabric storage and wig storage under my bed.
Thank you for sharing the tip on this table. I love it! I am going to buy one myself but will add wheels for easy mobility.
After using it for awhile now I would definitely recommend adding wheels! I'm super happy you found it helpful!
Great ideas! I made an ironing table from an IKEA table.
Thank you, Cathy! That's fantastic. It's such a great project that can really help the day to day.

How much weight will it hold? My machine is pretty heavy.

Where did you find your ironing top for the table
Hi Susie! I got it at Joann Fabrics. You can find it here: www.joann.com/home-hobby-table-cover/13834643.html
This is all over yt
Ikea transformations? They are pretty fun. It's really cool to see how creative people are.
