Great video, I too as a widow decided that my home was my home and I use my formal dining room as a crafting space and absolutely feel grateful that I am able to do this. I have faced criticism from “friends” but it is after all my home. ❤
I have 7 sewing machines and people thought I was crazy...lol I've been a tailor for 30yrs for clothes manufactures and designers and dept. stores and now I work mostly from home and I finally getting into what I always wanted to do in addiction to tailoring, but only dabbled in because of being to busy, so now I'm quilting and doll making and fashion designing and painting and clay sculpting and bag making....lol My 13yr old granddaughter loves going through my dress making fabrics and art supplies when she comes over. She always says...is there anything u dont have nana? I say yes!....more space....lol
Thank you for making these videos! I know you can't help that you're naturally easy on the eyes and ears, but I have sooooo many pet peeves with other " youtubers". They get on my nerves!!! Your are to the point, professional presentation, smart, sassy, and super cute!! Oh ya, you have great ideas!! LOL Keep up the excellent work!
i find you so inspirational. you seem like a real person who really does projects, not just someone who spends all their time making their space perfect and aesthetic. i really feel after watching you that i can do some of these things
_Suggestion_ - Your idea of having two of those Michael's _(they should be a sponsor...)_ folding tables is way beyond genius. If you're going to use two of them side by side you should have one of those half circle garden latches to join them together. Once they're locked, they're stable. Seriously, you should consider bringing this up with the Michael's PR and product development staff... for a possible sponsorship video. You get a second rolling table, 4 latches and you have something that can support a bolt of fabric. For 200$. As an apartment dweller, I thank you. You just changed the game... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Babylock is another company that does mid to high end embroidery machines. If you look up Sewistine, here on the YT, she'd probably be able to answer any questions you have about what to look out for?
My mom had a sunny formal dining room and she created in that room for almost 30 years. Family used it at holidays. It just wasn’t all about the decor. She had to hide 3 sewing machines etc. love the scissor sleeve.
I'm 71 yrs old! And I just had to Shout Out You ate definitely a out of box amazing thinker and doer! I have a push button table with a glass top and your ideas were so smart. I know I've lost some grey matter cause the easiest ideas are not that easy anymore. And with that said appreciate you so much with organization. Thank you Oceans! And many blessings always! 😊
OMG, I've just found you!!! Can't believe how many GOOD ideas you have introduced to this old lady! Love you, dear heart! I'm an old southern woman, transplanted in wyoming!
Excellent video with nice options for organization! I really like the way you repurposed the card file and made it a piece of furniture. I think I need the Ikea peg board. I have a tiny bedroom that is my sewing room and I need to start using the vertical space. TFS
I love that adjustable table! I’ve got one, too, and it’s fabulous! I’m tall so it helps a lot. I have a Martelli cutting table that also goes up quite high. Result? No more back problems!
I am floored by your inspiration! I have gone to Ikea twice in the last week looking for those items I need to complete my bedroom/sewing room. I have a very large master bedroom and have told my husband that if anything happens to him, I am converting it to a luxury sewing room, lol. I would move into one of the smaller bedrooms. I love all of the organizational tools you showed us as it gave me so many ideas, thank you!
O.M.G! I lose things constantly and have all clear bins so I don't just forget everything, but your idea using hair ties to put your bobbins on their matching spools is just PERFECT!!!! I feel like 'why didn't I think of that?!' only bcz it's simple and just makes so much sense! Love it! Thank you so much!
Also, the part in which you showed the zippers you've pulled to re-use just gave me inspiration to what to do with all of the small Ipsy bags I haven't known what to do with! Disassemble and make a larger "FrankenBag" and use the zippers I saved from adult onesies or/& footie pajamas! A couple grommets and binder rings, a belt, and voila! FrankenBag!
Might I suggest going to a store like OfficeMax and purchasing furniture sliders for some of your furniture. This will make moving them around the room so much easier. Thanks for the ideas.
I was literally cleaning up my sewing room awhile ago. First it was my brothers old room & some of his stuff are still in room. I just bought a table for my Cricut, but we still can't put it up cuz we don't know where it would go. I made a couple of storage boxes for my threads, supplies, buttons, have a bulletin board. With my Cricut I'm gonna create some labels 4 the boxes. My sketches are on a shelf w/ a WiFi little speaker that I can control with my cell. Since im Epileptic my mom wants to put a chair to keep me safe. But to still have alot to do..!!
Very helpful. I like that you explain the rationale for storage (wire drawers so you can see things) and your ingenuity and resourcefulness are inspiring.
LOL'ed at 22:30... "All the THINGS". No kidding! Some great ideas in here. A little but super helpful one was using hair ties to keep bobbins with their spools. So simple, so good.
I love that adjustable height table but I didn’t get the name of it. I absolutely love you. I have the white drawers, the ikea pegboards, lots of cube storage, also from IKEA, and I have an IKEA bookshelf for my fabric. I also use clear shoe boxes, the bigger ones that have a flap on front not the cover, that I have fabric in on the shelves. They’re nice bc you can see the fabric but it stats dust free. I love ur ideas of attaching the pegboards below. Especially on the moving carts. I have a few carts with the wire drawers that I use for all my ironing stuff and it holds grommets, overall buckles and snaps with their tools. Another thing I love with the pegboards is the thread cups you have. I have little trash cans next to each table but it doesn’t always make it in the bucket. I always end up with thread all over my house. It sticks to the bottom of my shoes. Want to say thank you thank you thank you. U r awesome. So informative but always make me laugh as well.
Omg my face seriously went 😳 when I seen all your beautiful machines!! I currently only have a brother se400 and one day will work up to having multiples. Along with sewing clothes and not just quilts, baby items and such.
I love your perspective. It makes no sense to have a formal dining room you use only once a year. Standing applause that you took it for a sewing room instead. I am an advocate for arranging living space by first considering how you actually want to live. Form follows function. I am a big fan of hair elastics. I use them to tidy up the power cords on small appliances. I'm also fond of bungee cord to restrain shrubbery when I'm painting outdoors, zip ties when I need a strong but semi-permanent fastener and they make a dandy hinge. Long story short, I'm a DIY hoarder that is sorting through the mountains I have not touched in years. The goal is a place for everything and everything in its place. Part of the process is converting a bedroom into a sewing room. I took apart the king size waterbed and will have a daybed instead. I kept both the drawer units that were the base of the waterbed and those will stack to be the platform of the daybed. In a way I am returning full circle to my childhood days when my little bed was in my mother's sewing room. One wall was a shelving unit that held stacks and stacks of fabric. She taught all her children how to sew. My eldest brother has refurbished her beloved Singer for me. It had been stored away somewhere in the years since her death. The housing is a little scuffed but the metal guts are whirling like a top. I"m looking forward to that song.
I have a sneaker obsession so I put half my collection in drawers. Ask me which sneakers never get worn? The ones in drawers that I don’t see on a regular basis. SMH
I'm not sure how you landed in my feed but un delighted that you did. What a fun and informative video! Love that flexi-spot and your arrangement underneath! I'll be back!
Thank you so much for this! I, too, have all my craft supplies, including a workbench for my jewelry making in my formal living room! But... it is a wreck! Being new to sewing- I needed ideas & yours are fabulous!🤩
I am a quilter and have watched many sewing room tours on TH-cam but I think yours is the best and the most fun. Like you, I love love love Ikea. They have the best items for sewists and Crafters. I moved to a really tiny apartment about 6 months ago but I'm moving to a larger one in a few months. Here I can only use 3M hooks on the wall and that's it but when I'm moving I'll finally be able to hang shelving and pegboards etc. So I can't wait to get the sewing room of my dreams again. I've had it before but not here. But I love your pegboard ideas. Thanks for all the great ideas. Now all you need is a Singer Featherweight, or is that hidden in some little cubby? 😊. Fortunately I'm extremely organized in my sewing room but I love thing new ideas and I love the one up the little fabric sleeve you have next to your sewing machine. I think that will be on my to-do list to make after I get my next two quilts completed. But you have many other ideas I will copy. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm. Love your video and subscribe d
@@BlueprintDIY I've used hollow books to protect my good scissors from the rest of my household for years. I liked seeing someone else using them too! I blame Tuesday Morning for a sale way back when and I bought a cartful lol.
So many great ideas! Thanks for your great video. new subscriber! That scissor thing you created is genius. One thing I recently discovered is something you might like. Ikea has these peg boards that can stand all by themselves. They don’t have to be attached to the wall or anything. And I got some attachments for that and use that as a place to hang my scissors. It works so well I’m very excited about it. My desk is facing a window so there’s no place to hang a pegboard that’s within reach of where I’m doing a lot of my sewing so the stand alone pegboard is fabulous. And it’s very sturdy.
You have achieved Greatness in figuring out what is important, useful, flexible, practical, versatile, and beautiful when designing and organizing your sewing room. Although I don't have the same amount of space as your former living room, I can incorporate many of your great ideas into my small space. Thank you very much for sharing!
Thank you for the info! In the future I will be a mobile sewist and since I am rather new to sewing I don't really know what I will need for space or what all I will be storing just yet. I will be living in a camper van out west and I am considering a sewing channel eventually to go with the van life. Living in a camper van I will be limited on room but I plan to have an awning with detachable walls and screens to make a sewing room while I am parked for a longer stay. I hadn't thought of the peg board so I believe I have an idea. I can tell I may end up pulling a cargo trailer just for all my sewing stuff. Hehe
So true. Out of sight, out of mind. Thanks for all the good ideas. I got a 6' conference table from Craigslist and put it on bed risers. Not as easy as a push button to raise/lower, but a sturdy, adjustable cutting table for $30.
I also got 2 tall card catalogs when the local university changed to digital. The legs look like a coffee table that the drawers sit on. All together, the two are about 5’ tall and 6-8’ long. Beautiful!
I... love... this... video! You are so charismatic, I feel like we are cut from the same cloth! Thank you for inspiring me to engage with my creative space more and make it work better for me. I'm tight on money and I'm prioritizing too many other things in my life right now... so what you said about stuff on surfaces moving to other surfaces was all too accurate 😆 But I'm a maker at heart too and I deserve a dedicated space to create, no matter how small it starts off as. Thank you for sharing yours! It's beautiful!
Things on wheels ❤️❤️❤️! And I love the two matching Ikea islands I landed for free. Game changer for working on either clothes or (short ends together) curtains!
OMG - Out of sight, out of mind! I do that all the time! I just bought a new tape measure because I couldn't find the three I already had. On the plus side, the new one is so soft and pliable. I hadn't realized that my 40+ year old ones, I think one was my mother's, had gotten that stiff. Or maybe they just make them out of softer material now. Great video!
Thank you so much for your video. You are a breath of fresh air to watch and love your enthusiasm for what you do. As a new subscriber, I am so so pleased to have found you.
You really have some great gadgets there! Unfortunately I don't have much space for big cabinets, so I improvised a little. My cutting table is self-made with little ikea cube storage cabinets mounted together and a big tabletop. To safe additional space I can simply move it around with the wheels on the bottom and the table holds all my fabrics.
Thank you so much!!! I was considering converting my living room into a functional space, but was hesitant...but now after listening to you, I’m encouraged!!! Mine will be for a library/art room...Thanks again!
omgosh....I love this room. I am so envious of all that work space. I live in a 4 room house and I have NO room for anything. I have just recently thought about sewing again after a 30 year hiatus. I still have not ordered my sewing machine - no matter which one I like - so many negative reviews. I am scared to spend alot of money on one. If I could get a semi-reliable machine and it would last 5 years - I would be thrilled. Anywho--thanks for your videos. I recently discovered you and you are awesome!!
Yes there were some super cute pieces shown. Designers I’ve never heard of too. So many ideas 💡! Again appreciate you for sharing all of these ideas that inspire you, to help inspire others! 🥰
I found this video searching for ideas for a sewing studio that will be built toward the end of the year. OMG!! So glad I did! I'll be watching many more! I also just got a new fabricator and was super excited to see that you had one! Looking forward to viewing all you've got!!
Absolutely loved this video, and all your videos!!! I have a foyer size space and use a 6 foot table that I put up and down 🤦🏾♀️! I plan to get the Michael’s tables to help me organize the space but also remain family friendly. Thanks Lady👍🏾❤️❤️💯!!
I love your sewing room and how you have it setup too where everything is organized where you can find items quickly. I use one bedroom for my collectables and sewing gear. I have two sewing machines in that room and know where everything is, but that room isn't as organized as yours is and I would like it to be.
My husband builded me a hanging table that is attached to the wall at the bottom and it is lifted with a remote control. It has A Cable that is attached to the table that lifts it up to put away and when I need to use the table the table lands on a modified day bed that supports the table. The remote has a small winch in the garage which is the power for the table to lift up or down. I Love the table for cutting fabric, making quilts etc. I have a small room but I have options on how to use my sewing equipment, serger, embroidery machine, quilting machine and my favorite other sewing machine.

I’m sorry to hear you are such a young widow 😢. Great video. Love your energy. Totally agree that your living space should work for you!

Magnets!! Yes! You could sell the scissor holder/magnet panel/pin cushion combo. Very cool.
That bamboo table that raises and lowers is a far cry from the conference table with wood blocks used to raise it up. That would be on my dream list!
Loved this. Headed out for thrifted storage options today 👍🏾 Glad I came across this!
I love you lady! Your designs are off the charts, and I love watching your magic. It is the greatest space for what you do!
Love your space. Good to know its normal to “hoard” (in a good way) several sewing machines.
Yeah, I’ve got a ton right now. 😅
I am love your sewing room. You have taken your time and organized everything in just the right place. Enjoy your evening.

I actually bought 4 of these and put them all together for 1 long table. I use half for cutting and the other half for sewing.

Nice 👍🏾

I got a 6' conference table from Craigslist and put it on bed risers. Not as easy as a push button to raise/lower, but a sturdy, adjustable cutting table for $30.
OMG, I just found you. You rock, love your energy and way of being.
I saw your folding table & bought one the next week. Love it!
Yayyy! I love mine!
I also got 2 tall card catalogs when the local university changed to digital. The legs look like a coffee table that the drawers sit on. All together, the two are about 5’ tall and 6-8’ long. Beautiful!
Yes, I’m bet they’re absolutely gorgeous!
I... love... this...
My dream is your room!
Things on wheels ❤️❤️❤️! And I love the two matching Ikea islands I landed for free. Game changer for working on either clothes or (short ends together) curtains!
This motivated me to put my patterns in my unused cube storage!!
Yayyy
Thanks for including the links - that cart table IS a game changer!
Oh I never thought about that. I have some that are stiffer than the others as well.
My mom used to put old school work in her art studio ☺️
Thank you so much for your video. You are a breath of fresh air to watch and love your enthusiasm for what you do. As a new subscriber, I am so so pleased to have found you.
Thank you 💕 Welcome to the BlueprintDIY family! 🤗
Functional and flexible - perfect description!
Thank you 💕
I love organiser's next to mashines ..its smart !
That’s smart!
Thank you so much!!! I was considering converting my living room into a functional space, but was hesitant...but now after listening to you, I’m encouraged!!! Mine will be for a library/art room...Thanks again!
That’s going to be amazing! I’m excited for you ☺️
Good morning, U are good with ideas to use within the sewing a space I love your ideas. Thanks
Thank you 💕
I am soooo getting one of those folding cart tables!
I'm definitely going to buy some of those peg board
omgosh....I love this room.
I just found your channel and I absolutely love it! I am about to up cycle my entire wardrobe!!!! Yes
Yayyy ☺️
I love the tip for bobbins
Yes there were some super cute pieces shown. Designers I’ve never heard of too. So many ideas 💡! Again appreciate you for sharing all of these ideas that inspire you, to help inspire others! 🥰
Thank you 💕
Thank you for sharing. Scissor holders - so creative!
Thank you 💕
I found this video searching for ideas for a sewing studio that will be built toward the end of the year.
Yayyy, so glad to help!
You deserve it all for free look at how hard you work! I hope u get sponsored.
I love your sewing room and how you have it setup too where everything is organized where you can find items quickly. I use one bedroom for my collectables and sewing gear. I have two sewing machines in that room and know where everything is, but that room isn't as organized as yours is and I would like it to be.
My husband builded me a hanging table
that is attached to the wall at the bottom and it is lifted with a remote control.
I just found your channel and I am so Impressed. I can't wait to watch more of your videos.
I go to Re-STORE store Too its an Awesome resource!! The card catalog is EPIC!!!!!
