Love the table idea, very inventive. You've organized ur space very very well. I only have a very small space for sewing, I'm full of ideas now looking at ur flat. I think ur flat is lovely, everything at hand. Oh, love ur vlogs too! You are REAL. Thankyou.

Great Space! Cover it with a large butcher block and keep it in the kitchen for an island in between cuttings.A nice painting over your couch would be lovely.

What a good idea, to raise a folding table. Custom made ones are just far too expensive to even think about buying.

Brilliant! We have that as our dining table - a friend who was moving house gave it to us. The drawers don’t really get used for much except table mats and coasters - I think they are really made for sewing accoutrements. I want to commandeer it and copy what you have done here, ha! 👏🏻 x

They don’t look great but you can buy those elephant feet risers. But it’s tricky if you actually use your table to eat at too.

Great job raising it. You mentioned you ironing surface. Maybe add a fold down ironing board to the cutting table.

Great job. Such a clever idea and done on a great budget too, my kinda thing, and your VERY handy with that drill too. I've just had to replace mine with the battery pack. None of sons, their Father, Family or friends are admitting to borrowing it, my name will be melted into casing with my crafting tool...
You mentioned your slightly untidy space. It's definitely not. I currently work using my dining table in a small living room, I'm working towards snaffling a part of my Sun Lounge, the only place people can actually sit without falling over sewing accoutrements. It's large enough for me to commandeer a bit, to do that I'll have to go up for storage, then get a table like yours to utilise my space well, read that as confine it as best I can to as small an area as possible!
Just in case anyone is buying A1 cutting boards. A few years ago I bought mine off a site on eBay who sold stuff for male /females using them for industrial type uses. There have the same qualities seamstresses require but are way cheaper. In fact, I see some craft sites are selling them. Amtech and Hillington or Hillingdon, apologies, are the makes. I panicked when the arrived rolled up, went to bed thinking I'd just wasted £12. Next morning they were totally flat. My grandson of 2 hasn't managed to annhialate them, trust me, he's a rough boyo, though I'm working on him even though he and his Sister are only here 1/2 days a week. His beautific smile helps!!
It's like everything else on eBay, research, I did find 3 sites selling them for 12.99 each, not a bad price increase considering mine are at least 6yrs old.
Questions questions, can I ask which heat wrap you use. I've SLE inc other issues caused by it, like you, my neck, shoulders, back are a pain. Apologies for the pathetic pun.

I bought the hillington ones! I think I might have made an error below - they were £26 for both so around the price you mention. I’ll update the info. There are definitely a wide range of prices for stuff like this.
My heat wraps are Thermocare, they’re expensive but work. I have them on subscription from Amazon, which brings down the cost a bit. I have a plug in neck heater (we call it the Cape of Good Hope 😃) for when I’m sitting on the couch but these are great for when you need to be unplugged!

Well done! I might have missed it in the comments: your using mending plates, instead of gluing the blocks to the table's legs, allows you to use different-sized blocks, if you wish to change the height.

    • @thecamdenstitch2335
      @thecamdenstitch2335  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks! After this vlog was filmed I actually switched those castors for some with corner brackets, I still used mending plates to reinforce but the whole thing is much sturdier. I use it every day - it has saved my back!

Thank u for this !!! I’m considering buying it and found the height crazy low for a cutting table (which is weird because so many people use it for sewing??) I have an ikea desk that low for my machines atm and even for that I find it too low of a height!
I’m curious about the other giant table you have in the back as I thought it was your cutting table at the beginning tho haha

How sturdy is the table when extended? I’m thinking about buying on for my dining table which also will be my sewing (and cutting) table . Not all Americans have big rooms🙂
Is it sturdy enough and steady enough to hold a heavy machine and the vibrating from it? Thanks !
